Actual live video of an ethereal Muse past: this should be in the National Archives. Thank you- whoever you are who posted this saved this through the decades.

It has been said that Landowska was more the master of her instrument than any other musician. No one of any soul would argue against this. But the ranking is not important: just listen to how she plays: this is grandmotherly love: she does this simply for you:
She plays, and you 8 years old, press you skull tightly against one of the Pleyel's legs. The vibrations resonate in your skull as well as your eardrum.
When done- she takes you aside and gives you chocolate treats or cookies, and tells you about what you just heard. You cannot comprehend it, at your age, but you listen and love it.
Landowska is the world's musical grandmother.

Her technique is perfect, just close your eyes and lisent the rich and colorful timbre similar to the human voice with its nuances.

The interviews with her I have seen, reminds me a bit of my paternal Grandmother (50 years ago). Nothing musical. But then listening to this music- watching Wanda move and perform, could you imagine being a grandchild to her? Sitting under the Pleyel, pressing your head to the frame to 'feel' the music as well as hear it.
And how your grandmother would tell you stories about the music the way she does to her audiences?
    Unsung national treasure.

She is my favorite artist, but I must say her technique seems bizarre. Is it derived from 19th c. German piano technique?

Not as bizarre as some of these comments...lol

Perhaps is it a fantastic cross between her natural gifts, romantic technique and hand position borrowed from Tomas de Santa Maria "Libro Arte de Tañer Fantasia"? The curl of her second joints have a notable resemblance...
