There is no magic one size fits all strategy for making huge profits across all markets and timeframes. It is very easy to overfit a strategy to a certain pair and timeframe so be sure to back test on as large of a sample size as possible then forward test to see if the results hold up.

Honestly I appreciate you and your content < Technical Analysis is good but I find It truly baffling that major crypto youtubers just look mostly at pure T.A and completely ignore the bigger narrative of why BTC pumps/dumps and why the future outlook will be even rosier than it seems. It's kinda irresponsible to ignore the fact that each ETF launch so far has caused a major dump at the peaks of BTC. We were already on shaky footing with historically low volume and almost pure whale pumps, narrowly avoiding a long-term bear market. Backtests, particularly with many independent variables, are generally curve fits. They prove nothing except most people don't know much about trading systems. Even a well done back test must be walked forward to determine it's performance on out-of-range data. It's common for a curve fit like this "system" to completely fail a walk forward on random out-of-range data. Don't trade this "system" without real testing.
Yes it is very easy to curve fit although it does become harder to curve fit the higher the number of back tests performed is. I always recommend to backtest as many times as possible followed by a forward test of 6+ months. If the system holds up it can be slowly scaled into with real capital starting with a greatly reduced risk per trade.

@@tradepro there are walk forward capabilities in software like Tradestation. They backtest on one set of data, then WF on the out of range data then increment forward, rebacktest, and re WF. Then they splice all the WF tests into a single continuous set of data with full performance statistics.
I would guess, and I hope I'm wrong because the numbers are incredible, that some of the signals, divergence for one, appear late. That works fine in a backtested strategy result but as it unfolds in real time, you don't get the same entries. Is that true with this?
You won't know whether the divergence was indicating a signal regardless anyway, not sure what you mean by this comment. When you trade divergence you are going off the recent pull back in price
I’ve seen that TradingView scripts don’t work the same on a live market. The signals are delayed by 1 candle. So technically speaking the back tests are completely false. Because 1 candle can completely change the outcome
@quinn that's absolutely not true. The pinescript checks if all conditions are met. And when this is the case (you only know if the candle closes) it opens a position at the open of the new candle. On live market, you are gonna be later than pinescript...
The long and short of it, no pun intended, is that automated strategies don’t work. If they did, and we could make the fortunes they often claim, why would anyone do anything but trade that strategy? This strategy and some others do seem to provide good signals but it requires human intervention.

Bitcoin trends very hard so im not surprised this strategy works on it. im sure if u try other periods the results are very very different. and the results get clobbered in range market.
@@sommi888 As long as you're not taking trades inside a congested, overlapping set of bars, that shouldn't be a problem. Usually entering an entry order above the high of a fully solidified bullish engulfing candle (for longs of course) helps you stay out of range bound entries.
The way its done in this video they have different settings so while the Super trend has settings of period 10 and factor 3 the atr trailing stop has 17 and 3

One way to improve this methodology is to optimize the back test on one set of data, then use the selected settings to back test on a recent set of data not in the original optimization. Ideally, the walk forward test should be on done on fresh data that includes all likely market conditions. Testing on known trending data will probably skew results.
Hi guys, Doing the challenge now everything is going okay but just wanted to ask during Christmas holidays and first week of January the forex market is a little slow is this normal? Regardless of the win rate, the strategy used, etc, the most important thing about this video is showcasing just how useful and well designed the indicator is. In what appears to be a single indicator (I say appears because I have not subscribed to it yet to see it myself, just going based off what I can see in the video) you have ema's, supertrend, atr, stop loss, take profit AND customizable options for things like divergences. To have all of that in a single indicator is incredible, and a really great tool regardless of the strategy being used. And on top of that it can calculate commissions, win rates, profit percentages, etc? Sure, you can get all of this for free by doing it yourself since all of these indicators are free, but rather than paying for a higher TradingView subscription to get more indicators you can use just one, and one that has more features combined than any of the individual ones. I will be checking this out myself very soon once the new month starts. Excellent work on the indicator good sir!

This will not work irl. The graph repaints as it moves. I had a strategy that gave me 1000% of 300 trades. Didn't work either because the graph indicators take into account future values in backtesting
Don't believe me. Just try it yourself on a graph. You'll see directly that it doesn't work. Only when the trend is very strong. But you never know when that is gonna happen untill it happened...
I believe < that the inflation is already priced in crypto market since the end of last year. These manipulative rats are always 2 steps ahead of everybody because they are market makers. 21% avg if all trades were wins, that should bring a big red flag and there's ways to trick the strategy tester to boost the yield like not using standard candles in the calculation or worse, using the look ahead on the security call for multitimeframe. Also it could be overfit for that specific market
This isn't such a simple question. The market had drawdowns of 80% while with 3% risk per trade the drawdown reached 20% based on the back tested data. If you increase risk per trade then this greatly outperforms the market and with a much smaller drawdown as well but if you only risk 1% per trade it underperforms the market. Just for an example I put in 8% risk per trade and the net profit figure is said to be 5946247% compounded obviously while the buy and hold return is 19,000% over the same period. The drawdown is said to be 45.67% for that example.
Since there has been no response to whether you can do this with Think or Swim or Tradestation, I tried this with Capitalism but that is not as user friendly as your hope. Where can I program this so it's automated.? If like to run it live for a week on any stock I want.

It says this warning for every trading strategy script on tradingview as a precaution, this one and all the scripts I show on my channel don't allow look ahead in the code it only allows past data to be used so there is no repainting.

Yes essentially it just requires the supertrend and 200 ema to agree with each other then trailing the stop at 3x atr to capture any move in the trades favor and of course protect capital when it fails to work in the trades favor. Extremely simple.

You can trade the same strategy without paying anything, the script is just for convenience. All the indicators are free on tradingview although for the script it is only available through monthly access

when using bybit how do you setup a limit stop loss order because i keep on losing money due to slippage on market stop loss orders

I expected Eric Birger would be one of those awful signal services when I met him last year, but I was wrong. I've tried a few others, but his are the most accurate.....
Backtests, particularly with many independent variables, are generally curve fits. They prove nothing except most people don't know much about trading systems. Even a well done back test must be walked forward to determine it's performance on out-of-range data. It's common for a curve fit like this "system" to completely fail a walk forward on random out-of-range data. Don't trade this "system" without real testing.
Yes it is very easy to curve fit although it does become harder to curve fit the higher the number of back tests performed is. I always recommend to backtest as many times as possible followed by a forward test of 6+ months. If the system holds up it can be slowly scaled into with real capital starting with a greatly reduced risk per trade.

@@tradepro there are walk forward capabilities in software like Tradestation. They backtest on one set of data, then WF on the out of range data then increment forward, rebacktest, and re WF. Then they splice all the WF tests into a single continuous set of data with full performance statistics.

You won't know whether the divergence was indicating a signal regardless anyway, not sure what you mean by this comment. When you trade divergence you are going off the recent pull back in price
I’ve seen that TradingView scripts don’t work the same on a live market. The signals are delayed by 1 candle. So technically speaking the back tests are completely false. Because 1 candle can completely change the outcome
@quinn that's absolutely not true. The pinescript checks if all conditions are met. And when this is the case (you only know if the candle closes) it opens a position at the open of the new candle. On live market, you are gonna be later than pinescript...
The long and short of it, no pun intended, is that automated strategies don’t work. If they did, and we could make the fortunes they often claim, why would anyone do anything but trade that strategy? This strategy and some others do seem to provide good signals but it requires human intervention.

Bitcoin trends very hard so im not surprised this strategy works on it. im sure if u try other periods the results are very very different. and the results get clobbered in range market.
@@sommi888 As long as you're not taking trades inside a congested, overlapping set of bars, that shouldn't be a problem. Usually entering an entry order above the high of a fully solidified bullish engulfing candle (for longs of course) helps you stay out of range bound entries.
I use this straregy I get 90% return on 70 out of sample trades. on the 30 in sample trades I get 2% return. Is this overfit? How can I fix this
An ATR based trailing stop is nothing else than another Supertrend, or do I miss something?
Super trend is based off ATR yes….it maybe he just uses different ATR setting, I dunno 🤷🏻♂️
The way its done in this video they have different settings so while the Super trend has settings of period 10 and factor 3 the atr trailing stop has 17 and 3

One way to improve this methodology is to optimize the back test on one set of data, then use the selected settings to back test on a recent set of data not in the original optimization. Ideally, the walk forward test should be on done on fresh data that includes all likely market conditions. Testing on known trending data will probably skew results.

Regardless of the win rate, the strategy used, etc, the most important thing about this video is showcasing just how useful and well designed the indicator is.
In what appears to be a single indicator (I say appears because I have not subscribed to it yet to see it myself, just going based off what I can see in the video) you have ema's, supertrend, atr, stop loss, take profit AND customizable options for things like divergences.
To have all of that in a single indicator is incredible, and a really great tool regardless of the strategy being used.
And on top of that it can calculate commissions, win rates, profit percentages, etc?
Sure, you can get all of this for free by doing it yourself since all of these indicators are free, but rather than paying for a higher TradingView subscription to get more indicators you can use just one, and one that has more features combined than any of the individual ones.
I will be checking this out myself very soon once the new month starts.

This will not work irl. The graph repaints as it moves. I had a strategy that gave me 1000% of 300 trades. Didn't work either because the graph indicators take into account future values in backtesting

Don't believe me. Just try it yourself on a graph. You'll see directly that it doesn't work. Only when the trend is very strong. But you never know when that is gonna happen untill it happened...
He also has “recalculating” checked in the properties settings and that is a big red flag.

Yes right, the real question is: is it more profitable than simply holding btc during a period of time ?
21% avg if all trades were wins, that should bring a big red flag and there's ways to trick the strategy tester to boost the yield like not using standard candles in the calculation or worse, using the look ahead on the security call for multitimeframe. Also it could be overfit for that specific market
This isn't such a simple question. The market had drawdowns of 80% while with 3% risk per trade the drawdown reached 20% based on the back tested data. If you increase risk per trade then this greatly outperforms the market and with a much smaller drawdown as well but if you only risk 1% per trade it underperforms the market. Just for an example I put in 8% risk per trade and the net profit figure is said to be 5946247% compounded obviously while the buy and hold return is 19,000% over the same period. The drawdown is said to be 45.67% for that example.
Since there has been no response to whether you can do this with Think or Swim or Tradestation, I tried this with Capitalism but that is not as user friendly as your hope. Where can I program this so it's automated.? If like to run it live for a week on any stock I want.

It says this warning for every trading strategy script on tradingview as a precaution, this one and all the scripts I show on my channel don't allow look ahead in the code it only allows past data to be used so there is no repainting.

Yes essentially it just requires the supertrend and 200 ema to agree with each other then trailing the stop at 3x atr to capture any move in the trades favor and of course protect capital when it fails to work in the trades favor. Extremely simple.
