      About the strategy:
      (1) When the breakout occurs on one side (long/short), you take off the opposite orders (short/long)?
      (2) When no breakout occurs, you take out all the orders and put in new ones for the next session?

    Based on the uploaders numbers, if you move your SL to break even once TP1 is hit, you will win 79% of the time. you might not get TP2 or TP3, but you won't take the L either. 15 pips a day can change your life.

    This is a lot like how I like to trade except on AUDUSD, I draw lines at the highest high and the lowest low between 16:00 & 20:00 (central time) and trade a break and retest of the levels on 1hr timeframe and use the daily ATR to determine how far price is likely to travel.
    Cheers! Another great video.

      @@DmitriKoslov1 ATR = Average True Range indicator. However, as an update, I've decided to nix the ATR and use a range projection method instead. If your range between 21:00gmt and 1:00gmt is 15 pips, then wait for a breakout of the range and set your take profit level 15 pips above if price broke above, and place stop loss at lowest low of the 21-1gmt range. 1. Set a trailing SL to breakeven automatically.

    To fine tune this a bit. make the stop loss a trailing stop. and honestly... once TP 1 got hit i would move that to profit. soooooo enter 7 above... TP + 15 = 22 Move SL to -20 from TP 1.
    To further stream line this. TP 1 should cover your trade costs and secure a small profit. So. this trade should be 10 to 20 % of your total.
    TP 2 should be another 20% to 30% of your trade. This is simply a profit taking trade. You are already in profit.
    TP 3 is the rest and yes we are just letting this ride until the trailing stop gets hit. And i would suggest tightening SL to no more then 15 pips once TP 2 is hit.

      @@jackdeep480 I've actually been using this trade setup daily for the last 7 months or so. It works very well. I'm getting a winrate of 73% of hitting the TP2 on USDJPY pair over the last 123 trades but im also getting very similar results on some other pairs as well. You really dont need an EA to automate this unless you want to add additional rules. Well worth checking out. I've added additional rules like trying to trade with the trend on the daily chart(so as im posting this, its bearish imo so ill look for a short rather than a long possibly off the trendline) and keeping in mind supply and demand areas. I use a hedging technique rather than a hard stop to minimize losses even further. You might want to correlate this with candlestick patterns like dojis, gravestone, hammer candles etc to increase win rate. This strategy is very similar to the london breakout strategy which i've been using for years now

      @jsunproter1940 Рік тому

      As im posting this dec 27 i have a long trade that has already hit the first 15pip TP despite me being bearish. In this situation id raise my stop more aggressively up to breakeven. If it was a short position then id be more inclined to keep the 25pip stop or raise it less aggressively. Also If it high or low isnt broken the next day then there is no trade and i really like trading this on major news announcement days.

  • @thecontainerthecontents6889
    @thecontainerthecontents6889 3 роки тому +18

    considering 80% of breakouts fail from any range, you'd think it'd be smarter to have those limit orders trigger and bet AGAINST the breakout each time. So have your limit orders 7 pips above the top of the range for example, but to sell it back into the range. You'd win 80% of the time and your stoploss would be maybe 14 pips up and only trigger if a real breakout happens and maybe you're risk reward is 1:1 -- and every time the price falls back down into the range you get potentially a swing trade. You'd have to figure out the average bar size in the range, and make that your limit order measurement above and below the range.

      @@jonathanheaden9982 That's not correct, sir. The 15TP was hit 25% of the time before retreating to the SL. The 15TP was also hit in the same trades the 35TP was hit (10%) and the 15TP was also hit in the same trades the 50TP was hit(44%). So, the total times the 15TP was hit: 79%. The problem with this is the 5 to 3 Risk/Reward ratio. This requires a winning percentage of 62.5% just to break even without consideration of fees which would put you at a loss. I'm wondering what the significance of the 25SL is. And if the 25SL is necessary then what are the results with 1 to 1 Risk/Reward? But based on the parameters that were given, 15TP (3 to 5 R/R, ) is reached 79% of the time resulting in +660 pips; 35TP (5 to 7 R/R) is reached 54% of the time resulting in 790 pips, and 50TP (1 to 2 R/R) is reached 44% of the time resulting in 800 pips. To break even, the 15TP requires a 62.5% win rate, 35TP requires a 41.67% win rate, and the 50TP requires a 33.33% win rate.

    I've been playing with this strategy on a tiny account (< $100) since the day this video came out. Followed the rules except actively managed the trades and moved my stops frequently, never exactly the same way, and sometimes using a trailing stop. Also, because such a small account, my risk was higher in order to get into the trades, more like 6% or 7%. Results = Price triggered into 9 trade setups (times 3 = 27 total trades), 70% win rate, 26% total gain on the account. Obviously getting a bit lucky here and don't expect these kind of results to persist, but nonetheless, it's been nice not having to spend hours looking/waiting for setups. Set and forget until you're in, then periodically checking in to tweak stops.

    • @skinjuice9178

      @@fullyvoid8356 Yes, if the price goes above your pending buy stop (or below your pending sell stop) and the three trades are opened, then goes down to your SL before hitting any of the take profits then you can loose all three (@25 pips each). You can experiment with a smaller SL and/or using a trailing stop or moving to break even once the first TP has been hit. This has been working well for me.

      Audai, 10 months is basically 200 trading days. This strategy takes the high and low of the previous 24 hours plus or minus 7 pips. So if it trades in a narrow range and never breaks out of the previous range this trade will never trigger. Based on my math this trade will only trigger about 2 or 3 days a week.

Do not trade this strategy on Friday and use Lowwer TP and SL on Wednesday. If you dont like the Idea with close all Profitable Positions you could go for a break even.

      I am going to test this strategy using currency pairs market times. How I believe this set up will work is use 24 hours with peak trading times in the middle of these hours. I did it with gold world first go. For example gold is most volatile during London New York session but less volatile during Australian Tokyo. Time frame I currently use for gold is 8am aest 8pm est and I set at these times it captures a balanced volatility also keep an eye on where price is currently it could also help with setting and forgetting. For example if both your orders are 50 pips away either side you will be waiting for some time and most likely going to not reach target. However if either your buy or sell orders are within 20 pips your probability of trade executing in your favour increases it also stops you entering and not reaching your target so yes time stamp adjusting would need some trials. So pick a time and stick to it. Do 100 trades before changing the time period for looking at highs and lows

    I do this using the 4hr time frame on AUD/USD. I don't use the high/low on the wicks instead I use the open/close on the candles to mark my high and low and leverage the wicks for profit. Sometimes the difference between the high/low on the wicks and open/close of the body can be as much as 10 to 15 pips. And instead of using 15, 25, 50 as profit targets I use 25, 35, and 40 for my profit targets. The results are better.

    I tried something similar (London Breakout Strategy) for months, but incl. spreads and commissions etc never got it to work good enough.
    Let's be honest; break outs are the hardest (lowest probability) patterns to trade when not incorporating retests etc. Too much institutional supply & demand zones. What DOES work for me though, is using an options STRANGLE (buying an out-of-the-money put, as well as a call). As long as the breakout follow through is strong enough you'll make money.

      You don't get a breakout everyday. The strategy isn't built for ranging markets

      i tried it on othr pairs I guess it comes down to changing the time cuz it didn't give the same outcome on other pairs.

      Tradingview days are at utc time, so the correct time would be at 00:00 utc, just google the time difference for your city, (you might have to add or sustract 1 hour when daylight savings time starts/ends)

    Any more info on the sessions indicator? All of the free ones on Trading Vire are the set trading hours of each market. You're not able to create your own custom session 6am - 6pm like you have done in the video.

    Is there an EA that can set SL to break even after it gets to 15 pips? I can't find any like that.
