Cracking support in Wales today! There is clearly an appetite for top tier bike racing in the UK, so just make the route more demanding and bring in bonus points
Tip for the organisers, next year include every steep climb you can find. Chimney bank, Holme moss, winnats pass, rowsley bar, fleet moss, porlock, dunkery beacon. The lot. The race needs to be blown apart from the very beginning. You might even attract some more top riders with a more demanding parcours.
The organisers don't choose the route mate. Basically, it's dependent on which local authorities can & are prepared to put up the money to host a stage start/finish.
@@stevecooper6515 yeah I read an article on it yesterday. I just remember watching clips of the Kellogg’s tour and they used to go up all the famous climbs.
Defending a razor-thin lead for most of the week must have been tense. The winner could not have had *any* bad days. I am surprised there was no ITT; I had thought them required in week-long stage races. Nice to see Magnus Sheffield at #4!
British geography doesn't make for great stage racing, that's the whole problem - Y'all are the "reverse Japan": they have PERFECT geography for amazing stage racing (it's like a more compact Italy, tremendous for 7-10 stages)... but they don't give a damn
@@DiegoRuiz1991it's partially that and partially political. The organisers can't get certain councils to shut the roads because they have no money, and the race had less than 100 riders because of Brexit.
@@Rory426 - Brexit doesn't matter, commie - The race is happening at the same time as the Vuelta a España, the Canadian World Tour races and more 🤦🏻♂️
This has to be the death certificate for this race in its current form. Britain could have a good 1 or even 3 day race, the infrastructure and organising ability for a week long stage race just clearly isn’t there.
I disagree. In 2016 it was a pretty decent route. Local councils don’t want the bill of putting on the event in a cost of living crisis. It will get better again I’m sure
@@WattySCFC for it to continue broadcasters /streaming services have to want to pay for it and viewers have to to want to watch it. This edition has been a huge negative, it might have been better to skip an edition
@@HkFinn83 I don’t disagree there but I’m glad it happened. It brought some mega talent to the race line WVA and young and upcoming talent. It will only ever be a World Series race not a top level race. They will make it more exciting in years to come like years gone by. Councils just need to get behind it and pay for it. The Cumberland and west Moreland councils in the lakes didn’t want it. Too busy charging silly council tax rates to us and not giving us anything in return

this is why tour of britain should have bonus seconds

🎉Epic ride from WvA!
This Tour of Britan has a King of the Mountain Jersey 😂
Woohoo ! Congratulations WVA :)))
The level of cycling interest in the UK deserves a better race than this. Let's call this an off year, and hope lessons are learnt.

Jumbo Visma dominating every race this year.
Van Wert win! 🏆🔝👍
go van aert!
What a joke of a race. The organisers need to sort this out for next year.
I know very boring route
Tjv letting their domestics get some gc win after the giro and tdf

Why couldn’t this tour have several stages like this one (8)?

@@WattySCFC. Cyclists can have whip-round surely?
This might as well have been a three stage race.
Wout van Aert is the Jens Voigt of Sean Kellys.
Another totally unmemorable "race" and frankly a waste of 8 days of the UCI calendar.
