My God Shot today (hard to choose just one because there were so many!) was in John 1:14 where it mentioned Jesus became flesh and “dwelt” among us. I studied this verse recently and learned that “dwelt” means “tabernacled” or “pitched His tent.” WOW! He came out of heaven and while still being fully God, put on skin (became flesh- fully man but still fully God) and tabernacled among us! Why would He leave paradise to do that? He’s RELATIONAL! By dwelling among us, Jesus entered into human experience because He knew it was the only way to reconcile us back to the Father) including suffering, joy, and temptation. This relational characteristic shows that God is not distant but intimately involved with us, understanding our earthly struggles. What love! ❤️
What a journey its been reading through the Bible this year. I'm just so happy getting to know God more and more. The confidence it gives cannot be explained. I definitely thrived in the Old Testament 🎉🎉🎉. Thank you TLC for the recaps, it makes me understand each passage better.
This is one of the most exciting things I can remember happening in my life! I mean I married the man of my dreams I had 3 beautiful children and two beautiful grandchildren and there all a blessing. My husband is now in Heaven and I miss him every day. I know one day I will see him again and My Grandma that taught me about Jesus when I was 5 years old and I wanted to know and learn and follow every step my grandma taught me she is in heaven too she lived to be 99 years old. I feel so blessed to be apart of this wonderful family ( The Bible Recap) If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t had gone this far I’m so proud to say I did it!! I did it and Now We begin a new path to the New Testament and I’m so excited to be on this journey with all my brothers and sisters in Christ. So let’s begin ❤ The New Testament! Yay! Yaway! ❤
I just want to encourage you that your husband and grandmother are cheering you on as you faithfully pursue God’s Word. We lost our adult daughter just before Christmas, and I believe that she worships along side us when we praise Jesus.
One of the prominent themes that I saw in today’s reading was that of humility. Almost every 20-40 verses we an example of humility from of the individuals in the story. To me what this highlights is to fully incorporate God into our lives we must humble ourselves before him and acknowledge that we need him. I pray that I can remain humble under him now and always. God bless y’all today.
The Angel Gabriel, who explained God’s plan to Daniel, who probably knows full well God’s promise to God’s people comes to a priest of the people, comes to Zechariah to tell him his son will be the voice in the wilderness calling the people to repentance to prepare them for the coming savior just as the scriptures have foretold. Zechariah as a priest who should know the word should be focused on the redemption of his people and recognize the significance of the visit by Gabriel, but instead is focused on his own troubles and that of his wife. But isn’t this us many times? We are so fortunate to not only have the Old Testament, that we have spent months reading, and the new, not to mention the gift of the Holy Spirit and yet we too doubt and lose sight of the wonderful redemption and gift that is Jesus Christ.
I'm very interested in the fact that JTB - the son of a Levitical temple priest - lived and operated in the desert. Why was that? Was John the Baptist an Essene? 👈 We haven't known much about them until recently, but the Essenes were a third group of Jews, alongside the Pharisees and the Sadducees. They had a monastery-like place out in the desert called Qumran, about 20 miles southeast of Jerusalem, beside the Dead Sea. This is where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in nearby caves, starting in 1946. (That was right before Israel was reborn as a nation - which is no coincidence! 😲) These scrolls are giving us a better understanding of what was going on during Jesus' time. "John the Baptist was baptizing in the Jordan river just eight miles from where Qumran was at that time. There is a Dead Sea Scroll called the Community Rule which records not only how to become an Essene, but how they started. The Community Rule says when the apostasy hit, the Holy Spirit spoke to their leaders, the Zadok priests, instructing them to move out of Jerusalem into the wilderness taking the temple library with them. They said that the Holy Spirit told them one of their order would fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah which says, 'The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God...' "In their mind the Essene order would keep proper doctrine and wait for the coming of the Messiah. When He came, He would destroy the Pharisees and Sadducees and end the corrupt Levitical priesthood by establishing a new Melchizedekian order and usher in a new age called the Age of Grace." ~Ken Johnson in Ancient Order of Melchizedek Dr. Johnson believes that John the Baptist was not only an Essene, but the leader of the Essenes during the time of Jesus. He was the leader of "the School of the Prophets," as attested by Church Father Hippolytus, who gives the lineage of the leader of the School of the Prophets from the time of Moses down to John the Baptist. As such, JTB was the only one with the authority to baptize Jesus into the priesthood! So Jesus was baptized into the priesthood - and made priest AND king AND prophet! As Ken Johnson says, "The Melchizedekian priesthood that was divided by Jacob was now restored in Jesus Christ"! Awesome stuff! 😊👍
Jesus is here! I teared up. I love seeing the red letters in my Bible. Luke 1:32 says, "He will be great and will be called the son of the Most High." Another verse that stood out to me was Luke 1:15 which says that John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth (Luke 1:15). I prayed this for my first granson who is due to be born 2/10/25. 🙏🏽

Gabriel appearances to Zacharias and Mary blessing them each with child because of their righteous before God, walking in commandants and ordinance of the Lord. Elizabeth blessed with a son whom she named him John; Mary son named Jesus. As we continue to walk in faith, hope, trust and only believe God, anything is possible. He is where the JOY is!!!

Jesus Christ, the One and Only Son of God has come! The One who has always been from the very beginning. He is the word made flesh (John 1: 14). I love Mary's song of praise to the Lord. God is mighty. He has done great things. Holy is His name! He shows mercy to those who fear Him (Luke 1: 49-50). I love the prophecy that Zechariah gives in Luke 1: 67-79. Through Jesus Christ, the Lord came down and visited His people, bringing salvation through the house of David. Yes and Amen! Praise His holy name!
My 1st day today starting reading the NT, Ive never read the whole Bible. Just the 1st 5 books of OT and JOHN in NT and now LUKE as well. SO Excited! THANK YOU SISTER TLC! GOD BLESS YOU MORE!
The beginning of the book of John talks about God the Son, the future Jesus on Earth. God the son created the world and everything in it. He is an incredible artist! His beauty is everywhere in us and in nature. God the Son made light and later, in the New Testament, He BECAME the light for us who are lost. God sent Jesus, the creator of light to become our light. God and His perfect orchestration of all we see and experience here on Earth is mind blowing! I struggle to comprehend it. God, You are the Joy in this life. You are the beauty. Thank You, God, for revealing Yourself to me. John 1:2-5 NIV [2] He was with God in the beginning. [3] Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. [4] In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. [5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
JTB has a calling on his life which is why he received the vowel even in the womb. Jesus Christ is born to save us all this is wonderful even if it’s not posted on the socials yet lol. Jesus is the Messiah, all of this was part of God’s plan. Hallelujah 🙌🏽
Don’t you love the Magnificat? He has exalted the humble and fulfilled His promise to Abraham. Mary understands God’s character and His steadfast love and mercy.
I appreciate you pointing out Elizabeth being the first human to prophesy of Jesus' divinity. It's so often overlooked and not mentioned at all actually. Jesus was including those in society were counted as last and least just as God The Father did when He gave us reminders to take care if the needy, the widows, poor and orphaned. How wonderful is our God
The fragment of loose rock made me go back to the large stone not built by human hand, that knocked down the statue of mixed materials from Nebuchadnezzer's dream. Peter was honored to be named as part of that rock.
I was on day 240 of the Old Testament and could not take hearing it any,ore. I noticed I was getting angry and mad at God and his people for all the terror, hate, destruction, etc that was going on. It was putting me in a very dark place and making me a very hateful person. It was hard for me to find any God shots so I moved on to the New Testament! I’m looking forward to going through this with TLC and learning more about my Savior!

I just now noticed the detail that John interacted with the Jerusalem priests and Levites in Bethany, and was baptizing in the Jordan River beyond there. I wonder if Lazarus, Martha, and Mary were early responders to his message about the Lord.

Luke 1:37, "No word from God will ever fail." God promised the messiah would come, and he did- the Son of the Most High (Luke 1:32), the Word (John 1:1, 14), the True Light (John 1:9), the One and Only Son (John 1: 4, 18), the Lamb of God (John 1: 29, 36), the Chosen One (John 14, 18).
While I was listening to the video overview of John as they talked about the symbolism of Jesus’s first miracle something occurred to me. Jesus’s first miracle is a promise from God, who has saved the best for last, but Jesus didn't even recognize that it was time to perform this miracle. But Mary did! She had already seen the miracles of God in her life, and she knew now what she did not know when the angel appeared to her. She knew God is the God of the impossible!

Luke’s primary lens is Jesus as man He wrote the book of Luke 30-55 yrs after the resurrection. John’s primary lens is Jesus as God All things made through Him. God the Father commanded it. God the son made it. God the Spirit approved of it and sustained it. The Trinity has always existed. Child of God- this title is given to those God adopts We see people either follow Jesus or turn from Him. You can’t see that a person is divine and remain neutral. Zechariah praises God not for his own answered prayer but for the upcoming birth of Jesus. It’s not the yes to his prayers but the yes to all of humanity’s redemption. The birth of Christ is the yes that surpasses all our fears and the peace that surpasses all our fears. “He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:8-10, 12-13

Im still new in this walk! The part on Being a child of God but not everyone is, how do we know 100% we are his children? I mean I accepted him as my Lord and savior I believe in him and got baptized even! By why do I get these thoughts that I'm not really accepted into the family or my name in the book of life? Is that Satan trying to get to me?
@amberbrewer6746 John 1:12 tells us: “to those who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to be called CHILDREN OF GOD.” Worry not child. From what you stated, Jesus knows you as His own. You are blessed.
1 John 5:13 says that “We write these things to you that you may know that you have eternal life.” And Rom 10:10 says that if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you are saved. And Joel 2:25 says that “All who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” You have God’s own word assuring you that when you chose Him, He had already chosen you!
When I got saved, I had a revelation that all my sins were forgiven and that I had a clean slate. The change was so drastic and undeniable that the rest of the family got saved within weeks. That was forty seven years ago and i've never doubted my salvation. If doubts arise, ask God to bear witness with your Spirit that you are a child of God. It's more than an idle belief, It is truly a supernatural transformation by the living God.
Loving this study, has helped make things real in a way they haven't been before. Thank you.❤ If I may, the comments to make this more relatable for today.....pretty cringe at times and honestly distracting. "She hasn't posted it on the socials yet..."🤦♀️😬
Hey that's kind of interesting. So the Son created it all right. And Jesus (The Son of God in the flesh) was a carpenter. I don't know it just came to.
Maybe it's just me, but I no longer want to hear people's names reduced to nicknames or letters. It just doesn't feel reverent to me. I'm also not appreciating all the casual "modern" inserted wording using terms applicable to now. Discontinuing following you for these reasons. This is just my personal opinion, good luck to you in your ministry
Scripture is holy. Fear the Lord. And then treat scripture with the respect that God deserves. Ask yourself if this casual attitude glorifies our Lord.
Sorry this is small thing is stopping you from reading and understanding the Bible. This would be like if you had a really biblical pastor but one day he wore a color you hate, so you stop going to church. Pray that you can accept this I order to learn about God

JTB has a calling on his life which is why he received the vowel even in the womb. Jesus Christ is born to save us all this is wonderful even if it’s not posted on the socials yet lol. Jesus is the Messiah, all of this was part of God’s plan. Hallelujah 🙌🏽

I appreciate you pointing out Elizabeth being the first human to prophesy of Jesus' divinity. It's so often overlooked and not mentioned at all actually. Jesus was including those in society were counted as last and least just as God The Father did when He gave us reminders to take care if the needy, the widows, poor and orphaned. How wonderful is our God
The fragment of loose rock made me go back to the large stone not built by human hand, that knocked down the statue of mixed materials from Nebuchadnezzer's dream. Peter was honored to be named as part of that rock.
I was on day 240 of the Old Testament and could not take hearing it any,ore. I noticed I was getting angry and mad at God and his people for all the terror, hate, destruction, etc that was going on. It was putting me in a very dark place and making me a very hateful person. It was hard for me to find any God shots so I moved on to the New Testament! I’m looking forward to going through this with TLC and learning more about my Savior!
Daniel, Zechariah, and Malachi (and Nehemiah) conclude the OT with hope, visions of the new Heaven and new earth, and the coming Messiah!

I just now noticed the detail that John interacted with the Jerusalem priests and Levites in Bethany, and was baptizing in the Jordan River beyond there. I wonder if Lazarus, Martha, and Mary were early responders to his message about the Lord.

Woohoo! So happy to be starting the new testament. I always like reading Luke 1 and John 1. They help me see the truth about God.
Luke 1:37, "No word from God will ever fail." God promised the messiah would come, and he did- the Son of the Most High (Luke 1:32), the Word (John 1:1, 14), the True Light (John 1:9), the One and Only Son (John 1: 4, 18), the Lamb of God (John 1: 29, 36), the Chosen One (John 14, 18).
New Testament Day 1 first time Soo excited 🎉
While I was listening to the video overview of John as they talked about the symbolism of Jesus’s first miracle something occurred to me. Jesus’s first miracle is a promise from God, who has saved the best for last, but Jesus didn't even recognize that it was time to perform this miracle. But Mary did! She had already seen the miracles of God in her life, and she knew now what she did not know when the angel appeared to her. She knew God is the God of the impossible!
Started the New Testament today. So excited. I'm 3 days late ut-oh..Oct 4th.

NOTE: Jesus was the only begotten son of the father but now Jesus is the first son among the many begotten sons of the father.
We that have come to God are now "Sons Of God".
The title - "Son Of God" is a political title.
Either male or female, you can become a "Son Of God"

Luke’s primary lens is Jesus as man
He wrote the book of Luke 30-55 yrs after the resurrection.
John’s primary lens is Jesus as God
All things made through Him.
God the Father commanded it.
God the son made it.
God the Spirit approved of it and sustained it.
The Trinity has always existed.
Child of God- this title is given to those God adopts
We see people either follow Jesus or turn from Him. You can’t see that a person is divine and remain neutral.
Zechariah praises God not for his own answered prayer but for the upcoming birth of Jesus. It’s not the yes to his prayers but the yes to all of humanity’s redemption.
The birth of Christ is the yes that surpasses all our fears and the peace that surpasses all our fears.
“He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Im still new in this walk! The part on Being a child of God but not everyone is, how do we know 100% we are his children? I mean I accepted him as my Lord and savior I believe in him and got baptized even! By why do I get these thoughts that I'm not really accepted into the family or my name in the book of life? Is that Satan trying to get to me?

John 1:12 tells us: “to those who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to be called CHILDREN OF GOD.” Worry not child. From what you stated, Jesus knows you as His own. You are blessed.
1 John 5:13 says that “We write these things to you that you may know that you have eternal life.” And Rom 10:10 says that if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, you are saved. And Joel 2:25 says that “All who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” You have God’s own word assuring you that when you chose Him, He had already chosen you!
When I got saved, I had a revelation that all my sins were forgiven and that I had a clean slate. The change was so drastic and undeniable that the rest of the family got saved within weeks. That was forty seven years ago and i've never doubted my salvation. If doubts arise, ask God to bear witness with your Spirit that you are a child of God. It's more than an idle belief, It is truly a supernatural transformation by the living God.

Son of God took the role of part human, named of Jesus, and walked, lived with us, sinful man. Yet, did they absorb the whole Jesus? Do i?
Tara Lee thank you for your ministry. It’s a blessing! But you calling John the Baptist JTB doesn’t work well.
Maybe it's just me, but I no longer want to hear people's names reduced to nicknames or letters. It just doesn't feel reverent to me. I'm also not appreciating all the casual "modern" inserted wording using terms applicable to now. Discontinuing following you for these reasons. This is just my personal opinion, good luck to you in your ministry
I pray you find something that resonates with you!
Scripture is holy. Fear the Lord. And then treat scripture with the respect that God deserves. Ask yourself if this casual attitude glorifies our Lord.

Sorry this is small thing is stopping you from reading and understanding the Bible. This would be like if you had a really biblical pastor but one day he wore a color you hate, so you stop going to church. Pray that you can accept this I order to learn about God
