My favorite hint that it was a manipulation is Joker sliding the gun on the table towards Barbara in that scene, meaning it’s nothing more than an figment of Batman’s mind.
What’s even better is how you can tell he knows exactly how the toxin works. Cause he doesn’t say anything about the specifics of what happened to Barbora after she “shoots” herself. But when Batman yells her name, he starts speaking about her. (He also technically manipulated Batman into seeing Barbora, cause at first he shows Barbora in the video, so that later on Batman will see Barbora once he enters and gets doused in toxin)
I didn't really like what they did with Scarecrow in the end. He was screaming in fear and then got knocked out by Gordon. That was no worthy ending for such a great villain. But Scarecrow was great through the whole game. One of my favorite scenes are the introduction of his comeback in AK. "This demonstration used just 5 ounces of my latest toxin. Tomorrow, this will seem like child’s play. Gotham, this is your only warning." Or his analyzation of how Batman is kind of different because he nearly killed the guards of the militia.
@@InzaneManeI get where you’re coming from, but I disagree. I thought his ending was perfect. After finally getting what he wanted, after winning, THAT is when fear strikes him the most because he realizes that while he may have finally won, while he may have successfully torn Batman down worse than anyone else could ever hope to, now? He has nothing. Now, he has nothing to live for. And THAT is the most terrifying reality of all.
Batman was always one person, he sees himself as Batman alone. Bruce wayne is the act nothung more, You could say Batman does not need to act anymore. But Bats was never split between the two personalities

worst part is that it's hinted that arkham joker got resurrected from the universe hopping batman chasing his joker through the different universes, poor bats lost everything for joker to potentially return
Yeah, from what I heard after it was presumed that killer croc had eaten him. He managed to drag his remains to somewhere that I’m gonna assume he got help and was able to reinvent himself, but his high-pitched voice was gone because most of his vocal cords went missing.
@@PaulBeast1 After the scene where Killer Croc grabs scarecrow, you can hear Croc scream a little later. It’s implied scarecrow got him with his fear toxin to escape
I really hope Matt Reeves utilizes Scarecrow and makes him a main antagonist in the trilogy. It would be a great psychological horror!!! Would also provide a lot of character development for Batman to become the ultimate symbol.
Who'll play him, though? I think that Jamie Campbell Bower would be a great choice, especially after his work in Stranger Things Season 4. Vecna utilizes the trauma of his victims to kill them, while Scarecrow uses peoples' fears.
@@coldzoroark6440see the problem with that is it’s like getting Bill Skatsgaard to play the Joker. The role is too similar. I want someone we haven’t seen do this type of role
@@IncredibleDude11 He wasn't. scarecrow was a glorified henchman. The movie wasn't centered around him like let's say The Joker is. Hell his fear gas serves as more of a villain than him
What fascinates me is that he went through all these measures to make sure the Justice League wouldn’t show up DURING the plot to unmake Batman but we have no indication that he was ready for who’d come after the dust has settled. Makes you wonder if he wanted to get taken down and possibly get the death penalty so that HE would be martyred afterwards
Plus, imagine if someone like superman or flash get infected with the fear toxin. They are strong but only batman has the immunity and mental power to get through.
@@samuraijackoff5354 I mean we dont have to imagine the superman part, the injustice series was made from Superman getting the fear toxin it, yeah other factors were included like a nuke but it drove Superman into a insane dictator
This is one of the reasons I’m sick of Joker- he is an overexposed, overused villain who overshadows other villains because he gets shoehorned into their stories. DC needs to stop trying to make Joker the star of the show at all times- even Bane is dumbed down because of him, not even mentioning how Joker pretty much stole Scarecrow’s impactful presence in Arkham Knight.
Agree. Joker comics are the worst. Every other character in them acts uncharacteristically stupid just to make Joker look better. I'd add that the fatigue stretches to Harley Quinn as well. I'd like to see both of their roles diminished considerably, but I doubt it will happen.
That being said I think the Joker was handled well in Arkham Knight. Joker is still intrinsic to the story of Arkham and it would be foolish to ignore his impact on Batman and the city but his threat is a consequence of Scarecrow’s plan. Scarecrow, Arkham Knight, and Joker all have their own unique way to torment the Batman and while there is interplay between each other no one steps on each other’s toes narratively.
I agree, I think Arkham Knight could've done without him While he is fantastic and he's still pretty funny at times, It kinda takes me out of the story a lot of the time and doesn't let you take scarecrow in as this terrifying threat
@@thefloofball260Joker still had a huge impact on Batman mental health after everything in Arkham City it makes sense Knight would end up with getting rightful punishment not dying with the last laugh and closure for Batman
Scarecrow would be the perfect antagonist in a horror movie. _Joker_ proved that you don’t need Batman to have a good supervillain movie, or Venom to include Spider-Man. But Warner Bros might be prudent to dip their toes into that
@@theoverthinkingalien224 not necessarily. They could go down the same way that _Joker_ did and expound on mental illness. The fear toxin being a stand-in for schizophrenia
@@metroidhunter965 That's a good idea to be honest. Fun fact: If you remove the hood and some of the extra stuff off of scarecrow, you can actually take a look at scarecrow's actual face Yeah, that sagging mask? That's his skin peeling off of his face. Croc did not mess around.
Yes after croc's attack on him in the first game, it's theorized crane had, plastic surgery, reworked his face himself, or simply healed from the attack, and this "no mask" scarecrow was the aftermath.
@@trentgibson581 I'm pretty sure there's dialogue in game stating that he sewed parts of his mask (a different one we don't see) into his face, rather than get it fixed. so his face is decaying flesh, peeling skin, "repaired" with his mask instead of a skin graft.
I don’t think that Batman uses his own fear toxin at the end of the credits. Remember, most of the criminals were exposed to the fear toxin when the cloudburst was active. In my opinion it wouldn’t be too much of an stretch to think that the remnants of the toxin still had an effect on the surviving criminals of Gotham, causing them to see a “ghost”Batman still protecting the city
John Noble did a fantastic job voicing Scarecrow in Batman: Arkham Knight! John Noble is also known to play other characters in different movies, games, and TV shows: - Lord Denethor of Gondor. (Lord of the Rings 3: Return of the King) - Dr. Walter Bishop. (Fringe) - Henry Parrish. (Sleep Hollow, Seasons 1-2) - Lord Unicron the Destroyer. (Transformers: Prime and Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising) - Brainiac. (Superman Unbound) - Mallus the Time Demon. (DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Season 3) - The Diviner. (Star Trek: Prodigy) - Leland Monroe. (Rockstar's L.A. Noire)
Im glad that not only there's more videos about Scarecrow, but more people talk more about him. He's my favorite Batman villain and he's pretty underrated (But definitely getting more recognition as he should), but he's an odd case. Despite being an amazing villain, he's insanely inconsistent (probably the most inconsistent Batman villain) both design and writing wise. Crane can literally go from being some pathetic lackey for a main villian to just BEING the main villain and damn Arkham Knight did him so well. The New Batman Adventures also did Scarecrow so well and easily gave one of if not the best design for Scarecrow. I just hope for once, he can have a definitive version and glow up like Mr. Freeze for example. Also im praying he will be the main villain in The Batman sequel, he desperately needs creative and great writers. I can go on and on with Crane but im just gonna make a whole damn novel of his character and potential if I keep going 💀
Yeah in at last the last two years or so theres been a decent amount of videos of the Scarecrow and how much the fans think he's underrated and underused
Scarecrow's probably the most terrifying Villain in the whole Arkham series, especially in Knight, we all thought he was dead but he came back as a ghost, a ghost who is able to beat the Batman.
@@YSL8704 I know this is kind of a random question but I'm just curious does batman have any black villains I know killer croc is in some incarnation but I can't think of any others

But he's only a Villain if you make him try to kill you instead of making him leave Gotham when you play as him for a short minute... In the comics he's not black... The only one who's consistently Black is Killer Croc.
It's the soundtrack from the movie "Irreversible", it was made partially by Thomas bangalter one of the daft punk musicians and the reason that happened was because they purposefully put in notes that can only be heard subconsciously in humans that causes anxiety and fear and our fight or flight to kick in subconsciously
The lengths Scarecrow goes to spread and learn more about fear is terrifying. Also Scarecrow broke Batman more than Bane ever could, making him believe he lost those he cares about, and allowing the joker infection to get worse, is truly terrifying how he does all this to have fear to take over the Dark Knight, and to take away hope for Gotham!
I think that's the scariest part about Scarecrow. After Asylum, he should almost certainly be dead. Yet, all he got away with was unpredictable facial damage, maybe a hunch and a limp?
Scarecrow is my 2nd favorite Batman villain, behind The Joker himself. Love how you explain Scarecrow. This gets you a subscription. Hope you do The Joker in the future. Haven't played the Arkham Games since getting the news of Kevin Conroy's passing, knowing that I'll never hear that legendary voice again in the future of Batman in animation and video games. But I definitely have to play them again in his honor. He is Vengeance. He is The Night. He is the one, true, definitive Batman. R.I.P. Kevin Conroy, you'll always be my hero as the extension of Batman.
20:02 also I hate how NOBODY mentions Scarecrow’s backstory. Scarecrow’s reason for his obsession with fear started as a combination of wanting to cure himself, grief, and a wish for revenge. Jonathan Crane lost his entire family as a child because of a traumatic incident. Then again as an adult because he froze during another traumatic incident. Both times, he blamed himself. And as an adult he was actually blamed by people who are supposed to not really do so.
And also I hate that they don’t have Scarecrow mention that. You have to get tapes, read comics, and have an understanding of real life therapy to understand that.
@@jackster9775That’s a perfectly understandable point and I’m very glad you’re bringing that up, but I think the reason they didn’t have Scarecrow mention this in AK is because by this point in the game, from an identity standpoint, Jonathan Crane is dead. There is only Scarecrow, which is why he essentially completely abandons his original identity.
bro wut backstory r u talking about? :0 I only know of two backstories that have been used for the character over the years, both involving the guy being abused and neglected as a kid, and ppl controlling him with fear. What comic is this from? :0
Batman: Arkham Knight and ESPECIALLY John Nobel's performance as Scarecrow has definitely made Scarecrow my favorite Batman villain. Everything about him is just... perfect. From the slow, menacing, gravelly voice to the terrifying appearance. Arkham Knight definitely has its fair share of problems, but this is honestly in my opinion peak Batman storytelling. I would love to see Scarecrow make an appearance in Matt Reeves' The Batman II, I think he would be a perfect fit for Matt Reeves' world.
I’m just happy to see someone appreciate the Scarecrow as something other than a fear toxin dispenser. Like, don’t get me wrong, he hands that shit out like lollipops, but there’s way more to him than “boo, gotcha!” Like, c’mon. The man has a phd, he can afford to be more complicated than a disgruntled Spirit Halloween employee. You’ve earned another subscriber, this video was great! On that note, if you want to see a comic that does him wonderfully, check out Kings of Fear. It’s one of my favorites!
If and when they do Scarecrow again, it should be Cillian. He was great yet underutilized in Batman Begins. Their is so much more to explore with him. And Cillian is such a fantastic actor.
You know, that version of scarcrow was dark, very dark, but to bring him down, it took a single move and a terrifying line. "Whats wrong? Scared?" -Batman to Scarecrow, Batman Arkham Knight
Noting of that potential victims count: That number includes also all age brackets. When seeing large numbers, it's a good idea to think for a moment to break down the "tyranny of numbers" as it's called into what it really means. You got everyone from toddlers to the elderly in that. Considering also how likely the gas would impact those with less bodily mass to go around more severely, thus resulting in a larger dosage, it would be especially deadly to babies, children, and anyone not yet in the size category of an adult. Which, even if it would hit all 121milion people there, is an extra layer of incredible dark. Also, consider this is the future generations in question, the long term consequences of such a massive loss of young life would be devastating. Not to mention all the other ones. So yea...yikes! Crane really went off the deep end here.
The developers actually said Batman faked his death. Also there is one final thing. If Scarcrow had not injected thst final shot..... something much worse would've happened..... the return of The Joker. That is something that could've been added in as well. In fact according to the novel adaptation Scarcrow was aware of the Joker's blood in Batman's body making me wonder if it was part of the plan.
@@WhyTho525dude studied the bat to an autistic degree, and considering how close scarecrow was operating to joker during the events of City, it wouldn't be out of the question that he either found out or was directly told about the joker blood. I also wouldn't doubt scarecrow wouldn't suspect something linking the dissapearences of the other joker blood recipients (we know Henry's was newsworthy, the others likely were as well) could give hints that Batman has some fear of _something_ happening because of the blood, and with that it would make sense that the presence of joker's blood combined with batman's morals would have batman innately fear becoming joker. Plus you have the intelligence and personal details Jason would've told scarecrow as well... Quite a few logical leaps would need to be taken, but it's still a comic book universe where you have a billionaire who dresses up as a bat wearing state of the art armor to beat the shit out of anybody who does anything beyond jaywalking at night.
Great video, you really say all the good points of why Scarecrow is such a good villain. And while some people say they prefer the Asylum version because it shows more the comic Scarecrow, a mad scientist who does experiments. I think the Knight Scarecrow is much better and terrifying. Having a guy with fear toxin laughing hysterically all the time and being kinda crazy isn't as threatening as a guy with fear toxin that knows what to do and looks at his plan on a bigger scale. I always thought that villain wise, Scarecrow was always above Joker by a LOT for me. I like Joker, but he is too much on the "I'm crazy and energetic" side for me, I think those who speak very softly, like Knight Scarecrow, are scary. The sad thing is that outside of Knight, he was never really well done, always a background character, even in Knight unfortunately to an extent. And I really which for a good Scarecrow character. Because for now, while I love Scarecrow as a villain, my pick for best character is Harley Quinn. But if we get one like Knight, and if he is the main threat during all the thing for once. He could be my top in both.
I can see where you're coming from but for me The Joker is scarier. Those wheels are always turning a plan is always either forming or in motion, and no one, whether ally, foe or bystander, knows exactly when they might become the butt of his cruel and intent full notion of a joke.
@@adamantiiispencespence4012 Yeah, I get what you mean by that, I think it just depends on what kind of villains you like. Personally I'm not really a fan of the crazy type of villains, like Joker for example. While I agree that the concept of a person who can stab you in the back at any random moment is creepy, I still like calculating villain, like Knight's Scarecrow, a lot more. And I know that Joker still calculates some things, but most of the time he has a point A and a point B but goes with the flow in order to go to the other point. And I also feel like nowadays we see a lot more of "crazy" villains than calculating ones so it might also just be that I'm bored of them
I can't believe Batman's archnemesis is the Joker when Scarecrow exists. Such essential parts of Batman are based on fear. I really wish people would value the Scarecrow more, he is such a complex character and has the potential for great storylines.
To be fair, most of Batman's villains, especially the best ones, are all great reflections of him as a character. His greatest rivals are all the biggest examples, Riddler is a reflection of his detective skills, Penguin is a character who's so unbelievably powerful because of his wealth and status just like Bruce Wayne/ Batman, Bane is a man nearly unbeatable for other humans in a 1 on 1 fight like batman, Two Face is a reflection on Batman's split personality, and obviously Scarecrow uses Fear against his opponents, hence why they're the best 5 villains outside of Joker. Even other villains who you wouldn't expect much from, they even have this, like Croc is the embodiment of a terrifying unstoppable force for his opponents all rooted from an incident at a young age out of his control (if you consider a disease an incident), Clayface reflects Batman's mysterious identity, Freeze with his isolation via loss and having to live in extreme cold, which would be fatal to others, but it's the only way for him to exist (for batman it's mental cold and not the physical cold), hell even similar metaphors like Ivy with her obsession driving her sense of justice and morality, and Mad Hatter with his obsession linked with his persona and technology. It's why Batman's rogues gallery is so unbelievably good.
Ive always loved Scarecrow. He, wheb used correctly, is incredibly unsettling because he has no real goal beyond creating fear and terror. And Noble is probably my favourite version of the character. The eerie calmness is so terrifying
I feel Scarecrow is secretly Batman's real archenemy. One who poses as a B lister villain in Joker's shadow as means of understanding Batman from afar.
I think as scarecrow has been getting more recognition over the past few years I think we need to take a second to appreciate his character design in Arkham Knight. I know a lot of people think the New Batman Adventures one is his best but holy hell to me the Knight one is better. From the dead grey eyes, his face with chunks missing and how it looks almost like the material for a scarecrow head is sown into him, to the needles that glow when he’s injecting with his toxin. Even down to small things like the brace he has on his leg I feel like it’s taken straight out of a nightmare. To me this is Scarecrow’s design and nothing can rly top it at least to me. Hopefully future Batman projects that use Scarecrow will take elements of this design.
Scarecrow has unmasked Batman 2 times, once in the Arkham games, Another one on the Harley Quinn animation. And is the villain that attacks the mind of Batman his most vulnerable point for me, he should really be the main villain in a Batman film he is so dangerous that Batman should end his life because someone as cunning and evil smart as him shouldn't be alive.
That 121M is minuscule when you take into account how the toxin lingers in the air like hardcore, so if his initial bomb went off as planned and the entire Eastern Seaboard was covered in Fear Toxin, it would travel well beyond the initial 15 states in a matter of time, and there’s no way Ivy could’ve undone that damage given how much it took out of her just to clear out Gotham City alone, realistically the entire continent of North America would be in the immediate fallout due to Crane’s tomfoolery It’s a bit of a stretch but given enough time since Earth kinda recycles a lot of water in its endless cycle, eventually 15 US States and 121M people would be a joke by the time the whole world has fallen to their fears
Scarecrow has always, and will always not just be my favorite DC character, but also favorite comic villain ever And the Arkham games used him so well, and I still believe that the best choice the games did was make Scarecrow the main antagonist for the final game in the series (not counting Suicide Squad) You amazingly described how this man is just pure nightmare fuel to the bat and how much of a threat he really is
My favorite use of the fear toxin was in knightfall. A couple of thugs use it on batman. Usually what happens is he falls into a panic attack or worse halucinating about his parents This time was different he didnt seem frightened at all in fact it just made him furious and he beat those two close to death while they were screaming in fear of him instead They dont show what batman is experiencing until the end where we see his thoughts. And its just him screaming JASON!!!!
Before Arkham Knight, I feel like the Scarecrow has gotten a bad deal as far as adaptations. In the comics, his physical strength was never going to match his intelligence in the way Batman's does, but he's capable of so much destruction. The Nolanverse Scarecrow had potential but then got sidelined in favor of the Joker and then might as well have not been in Dark Knight Rises (even though I loved the line, 'sold to the man in the cold sweat'). For a long time, The Animated Series was the best adapted depiction and not only had some fun designs but excellent voice actors in Henry Polic II (RIP) and Jeffrey Combs. This entry in the video games really shows just how dangerous the Scarecrow is, just how damaged, sadistic and smart he is. I admit John Noble wouldn't have come to mind as his voice, but despite his deep voice, he really brings the intelligence to the character.
Gotta love Scarecrow. He's always been my favorite of Batman's Rogues Gallery. Whether he's on the eccentric goofy side or the brooding dark side, it's so fun to watch him work his magic. Fear State, Arkham games, Batman Begins, Animated Series, they're all just such juicy characters.
Even if the fear toxin didn’t kill, just imagine how bad the after effects would be. The sheer, mind boggling amount of trauma, each unique to every one of the millions of people affected. Some of the biggest cities in America are on the eastern seaboard. Washington DC is there. Imagine the sheer number of therapists trying to calm a panicked nation. All those men and women. Imagine how many children Scarecrow would have scarred for life. How many people would wake up screaming, or go into panic attacks. Imagine the suicide rate…
I really like it when they give a chance to other Batman villains to shine (other than Joker) , Scarecrow was my favorite villain in Arkham series because it was a unique take and i’m glad rocksteady gave him a chance
I love how you chose scary music for this video, completely fitting with Scarecrows gimmick being fear. Helps the audiance feel the fear of scarecrow etc.
Bro this is amazing. I would love Scarecrow to become the main villain, or at least an important side villain in Matt Reeve's batman universe. He would be the perfect combination of realism and fantasy using his intellect but also his fear toxin. Creating Batmans hardest mental challenges. This is a great video btw, amazing analysis.
I love your take on scarecrow, alot of people bash him for being always the same. But as a kid, i was truly scared of him. And this video explain exactly why
His appearance and significance in the third episode of The Animated series is one of the most standout Scarecrow moments for me. Bruce uses theatricality and fear as means to fight against the underbelly of Gotham but what happens indeed if he too is exposed to the same concept? The idea that he feels guilty all these years for what happened to his parents. Also it is the epiosde where he says his most iconic line
Oh, I thought you were going to talk about the serial killer Professor Pyg. That guy is honestly more vicious since- like the joker he does it for fun, but instead of waiting for attention or punchlines like the joker is, he just keeps moving from victim to victim.
I have always loved Scarecrow since the Batman Animated Series version of him scared the crap out of me as a child. I also believe the fire bat in the end was actually the late great Kevin Conroy himself. But jokes aside, it might have been Azrael
So glad to see more videos emerging about this version of the scarecrow and his affect on Batman/Bruce. I would love for some version of this storyline put into a 3rd Batman film
Scarecrow is, in my opinion, the perfect batman villain. While batman has a multitude of gadgets and martial arts in his arsenal, his greatest weapon has always been the fear he inspires. And scarecrow has perfected the art of using fear as a weapon
One of the things I find most interesting about scarecrow in Arkham knight is that even before nightmare Batman he is still terrified of Batman as seen by the look on his face when Joker Batman grabs him. No matter how confident and enraged he is, no matter how much he hides behind his persona he is just like everyone else, absolutely scared of the dark knight.
I like your intro man. Brings a nostalgic feeling. And makes it feel like this video is a old aged one from the past that makes it have that late 2000s yt video era.
This is such an unbelievably excellent video. Love your analysis of both Scarecrow’s character from Asylum into Knight, but also your editing and style. Keep it up, you have yourself a new subscriber!
Scarecrow definitely was the perfect antagonist to send off the Rocksteady trilogy. Scarecrow was the one who killed both The Batman, and Bruce Wayne. it didn’t matter if Krane and Scarecrow was killed mentally he still won in the end. For Bruce, the game was rigged from the start, and Krane was the orchestrator of said game. Also he’s voiced by Saren Arterius from Mass Effect 1, which as a mass effect fan, and a fan of the rocksteady trilogy, made him way more unnerving, as does his gruesomely torn apart face, also gruesomely covered by a fetid mask. Scarecrow killed The Batman, causing Bruce to seemingly kill himself, however Scarecrow was the one who killed Batman’s identity, his entire personality, molding it into a much darker version of himself, one physically and mentally deformed like Krane was, and one that especially uses the minds of others to kill them.
This video was amazing, after watching it I was beyond surprised to see the likes and your subscribers so low. Can't wait to be around for even more content and the ride as those numbers rise!
8:47 This part gave me chills the music is so ominous like Scarecrow himself and goes to show the lengths that Scarecrow will go to instill fear in not only Gotham but The World

@Hey Pete Around the 28:10 mark in ur video you begin talking about how Batman's mind was so altered/traumatized/cracked by his encounter with scarecrow and his toxin, that Batman's mental health became SO WARPED He began to use scarecrow's fear toxin in his endless battle against crime. I would like to argue against the your fact that it's BECAUSE his mind was so DAMAGED that Batman even considered using the fear toxin in his arsenal.... BUT INSTEAD (the way I SEE IT) Batman's mind was SO IMPENETRABLE and UNBROKEN at the end of A.K that he was able to rationalize and formulate a plan as to how to CONTINUE to be EFFECTIVE AS Batman, and the ONLY WAY he would still be able to fight crime in Gotham AS A MYTH OR LEGEND is if he started to utilize a psychotropic drug that A) made his enemies hallucinate (which, after a severe ass whoppin', would leave them wondering if they really DID indeed see a Batman?) The criminals would be left talking amongst themselves- "... But Batman's dead?! BRUCE WAYNE'S DEAD! WE ALL WATCHED IT! So who the hell is this NEW GUY?... OR BETTER YET, I KNEW Batman couldn't be beaten by the scarecrow... Bruce Wayne was just a fall guy somehow and the REAL Batman is STILL out there!!"- THUS, letting Batman's myth/legend status rebuild itself. And B) the other brilliant reason Batman would have in using this toxin is IT INSTILLS FEAR IN PPL! (It's SO simple IT'S BRILLIANT)- if by removing Batman's mask HUMANIZED Batman, and took away his myth/legend status, CRIMINALS WOULD NO LONGER FEAR HIM... ok, problem solved! Use the toxin to PUT the FEAR BACK INTO THEM! Again, I look at it as a strategic chess move made by an astonishingly SOUND mind... NOT a broken one. ... Now, if Batman had resorted to GUNS to start instilling fear back into his enemies THEN I would agree with your statement, however guns would only cover the FEAR aspect that had been lost by scarecrow unmasking him. It WOULDN'T however rebuild the myth/legend aspect- again, just ANOTHER reason WHY using the fear toxin instead of anything else was a stroke of brilliance! Hope u read this!! Thanks for the awesome video!- Trent

I hope Scarecrow is the creator of the Drops.

The fact that he was gonna make the entire east coast tear itself apart with fear is actually insane
That's part of what makes Joker the Joker in the Arkham games.
I agree, I think Arkham Knight could've done without him
While he is fantastic and he's still pretty funny at times, It kinda takes me out of the story a lot of the time and doesn't let you take scarecrow in as this terrifying threat
But Warner Bros might be prudent to dip their toes into that
Wouldn't he be too similar to Freddy Krueger for it to work? I do like the idea though.

You know, that version of scarcrow was dark, very dark, but to bring him down, it took a single move and a terrifying line. "Whats wrong? Scared?" -Batman to Scarecrow, Batman Arkham Knight
This man has my full respect for being able to willingly do the math of the entire Eastern American Seaboard
How could Scarecrow have know that Joker's "spiri" was in Batman?
And I also feel like nowadays we see a lot more of "crazy" villains than calculating ones so it might also just be that I'm bored of them

this video was very well put together i do not play the batman games but i understood everything you said perfectly
How come you don't play the Batman games?

I feel the same, especially in the Arkham games
damn I really miss kevin conroy, his performance in the arkham franchise is truly amazing.
You killed it with this story and your appreciation for showing just how top tier Scarecrow is as one of Batman’s main villians.
11:35 “One shudders to imagine what inhuman thoughts lie behind that mask”
That 121M is minuscule when you take into account how the toxin lingers in the air like hardcore, so if his initial bomb went off as planned and the entire Eastern Seaboard was covered in Fear Toxin, it would travel well beyond the initial 15 states in a matter of time, and there’s no way Ivy could’ve undone that damage given how much it took out of her just to clear out Gotham City alone, realistically the entire continent of North America would be in the immediate fallout due to Crane’s tomfoolery
It’s a bit of a stretch but given enough time since Earth kinda recycles a lot of water in its endless cycle, eventually 15 US States and 121M people would be a joke by the time the whole world has fallen to their fears
Scarecrow has always, and will always not just be my favorite DC character, but also favorite comic villain ever
And the Arkham games used him so well, and I still believe that the best choice the games did was make Scarecrow the main antagonist for the final game in the series (not counting Suicide Squad)
You amazingly described how this man is just pure nightmare fuel to the bat and how much of a threat he really is
Dude,you deserve more recognition.

My favorite use of the fear toxin was in knightfall. A couple of thugs use it on batman. Usually what happens is he falls into a panic attack or worse halucinating about his parents
This time was different he didnt seem frightened at all in fact it just made him furious and he beat those two close to death while they were screaming in fear of him instead
They dont show what batman is experiencing until the end where we see his thoughts.
Wow, great video essay. You deserve a lot more views

And in the end, scarecrows true fear was batman. Ironic.

Pyg, or Victor Zsasz are my two picks for darkest BatRogue!
Professor Pyg might be the most disturbing Batman villain
I have always loved Scarecrow since the Batman Animated Series version of him scared the crap out of me as a child.
I also believe the fire bat in the end was actually the late great Kevin Conroy himself. But jokes aside, it might have been Azrael
After watching this video, I realised that Batman will have become a fallen hero in Suicide squad, even after he is free of Brainic’s mind control
I like how you added postal 1 music when showing the fear toxin being released into gotham
I wish scarecrow would have taken some sort of revenge on croc and had that incorporated in Knight
Actually he did got revenge on Croc, it was in the Most Wanted DLC
One of the things I find most interesting about scarecrow in Arkham knight is that even before nightmare Batman he is still terrified of Batman as seen by the look on his face when Joker Batman grabs him. No matter how confident and enraged he is, no matter how much he hides behind his persona he is just like everyone else, absolutely scared of the dark knight.
I like your intro man. Brings a nostalgic feeling. And makes it feel like this video is a old aged one from the past that makes it have that late 2000s yt video era.

Incredible video essay my guy. Keep it up. Love to see more of this
This video was amazing, after watching it I was beyond surprised to see the likes and your subscribers so low. Can't wait to be around for even more content and the ride as those numbers rise!
As Scarecrow said: I have won. There is no more hope no more Batman!
It's insane how over 120 million people almost died, just so crane can torment bruce
Underrated but high quality video essay channels are the best. New subscriber
8:47 This part gave me chills the music is so ominous like Scarecrow himself and goes to show the lengths that Scarecrow will go to instill fear in not only Gotham but The World
This is a really good video!! Lot of backstory I didn’t know! Keep it up
Arkham Knight Scarecrow and James Gordon Jr would be Bread & Butter. Can't imagine those two working together.
great video loved the music that you used. it really built good tension 👍
I’m really hoping they use Scarecrow as a villain in Matt Reeves Batman universe. I’d love to see how dark and twisted they could make him
Yo, this needs to blow up. This was really well made, good job man!
All I want is a really creepy Batman movie where he actually detectives things against Pyg (like in Arkham knight) or Zsasz where theres actually the full usage of the most disgusting villains that Batman has dealt with.
Just going to say you produce some really great content sir...interesting and super insightful..its cool to learn the deeper meanings behind these games..your channel definitely deserves praise..
@Hey Pete
Around the 28:10 mark in ur video you begin talking about how Batman's mind was so altered/traumatized/cracked by his encounter with scarecrow and his toxin, that Batman's mental health became SO WARPED He began to use scarecrow's fear toxin in his endless battle against crime.
Scarecrow literally is the perfect villian for a robert pattinson main villian. Hes pretty rooted in nature and offers an inside story for bruce as well
Never thought I would hear postal music used in a video essay about a batman villain. Postal 1 music is so atmospheric and I'm glad more people are becoming aware of it.
I had literally no idea that’s what was playing😮
Fun fact but the musci thst plays during the last few seconds of the origins section of this video comes from the scene of 28 days alter where Jim reminisces over his videos of him and his parents together before getting attacked by infected. Jim in this film is played by Cillian Murphy who plays Scarecrow in the nolanverse Batman films.
Fun Fact: Scarecrow isn't wearing a mask in Batman Arkham Knight. Thats literally his face.
The mental health crisis is worse than anything Scarecrow could produce, especially in Wolverhampton where im from😂
This is why I’ve always loved Arkham Knight, and the more I play it, the more I love it. Scarecrow is probably my favorite villain in the Arkhamverse. Fantastic in Knight
Scarecrow is hands down a great character & a very interesting antagonist. He was my main in Injustice 2!
Amazing video you deserve more recognition. And scarecrow is a interesting character
this tickled my hyper fixation PERFECTLY
