Just been taken back to my match days in the 60's and 70's. Memories of a river that isn't there any more. The stretch below the bridge at Helperby used to have 7 pegs to the corner and no trees but nevertheless it was always my favourite fishery. Sadly now due to illness I can only fish where I can park the car so thanks Tom for bringing back lots of memories.
My dad was a syndicate member at sheephills for last 10 years. I've been many a time with him and lovely part of the countryside. Lucky man Tom to fish the swale.
Very nice vid Ive always loved Fishing North Yorkshire, as a Lad we had a Bus that took us up there from a local Coach Firm, the owner enjoyed the trips & drove Himself every Sunday but I dont think he ever fished! Anyway thanks for sharing Cheers, Graham.
Doesnt look to be that many fishable pegs at Helperby nowadays.I fished a few club matches in early 80"s on that stretch..I seem to remember there was a small weir also that was packed with chub.

Hi Tom I’m heading to the Swale this Saturday for a bit of chub fishing, would you think I’d be better fishing Asenby or Helperby? Thanks
There's not much in it and it depends which pegs are available. Try Asenby first. Next time give Helperby a go if you need some exercise.
@@Charlyfarly2 thanks Tom 🎣
Well Tom, that was a nice break from the 30 degrees on the sun bed here in Ibiza ! Can you do another for next weeks sunbed fix 😉 All the best. Dave R
Hi Rushy. There are two others - Skipton & Myton, and Topcliffe. Have a great time in the sun and don't overdo the sangria.
Charlyfarly2 Well that's today's entertainment sorted then Tom . . . While I'm having a pint of Sangria 😎
Hi Tom how are these private fishing areas enforced from people just fishing and not noing its private ?
sierra hiker better to presume it's private until you find out.
