Those were the days when me and a couple of mates were on the road at 3 to fish on the glorious 16th ,and we weren’t always the first on the bank, lovely vid Tom have a great new season ,
5:10 : Yes, there's some Chubby Chub there for sure. Look at the thickness of em' I think there's more Chub over 10lbs in the UK's Big Tidal Rivers than people would think. My theory is that when they get to that size they become solitary predators. & my other theory to back up that theory is that Big Chub are more Hook shy & More easily spooked than Pike and Perch are. Hence why not many Chub over 9lbs are ever seen. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some 12lb Chub in some UK Rivers.
Just a question from someone who's never been outside of the states. Are there any places where just anyone can go and fish without paying or being a member of some club? Also are you allowed to harvest any species of fish for eating?
Hi Eric. There are places where the fishing is free but there are usually problems - rubbish, pollution and 'undesirables'. Club memberships and day tickets are very cheap. My membership is £60 a year to fish 40 miles of river as you see in the video and several still waters. Bargain. Coarse fish are poor eating. Game fish (trout and salmon) can be taken on a few waters but to conserve declining populations they are usually returned. Cheers

4:42 : It appears that Barbel and that Chub are Friends.
There's not much space to park over the bridge at Myton and there's some damn big farm machinery goes up and down there.
