i love aonuma's "i fused a mushroom to my shield :)" it's like he's a kid in a playground playing around with stuff he found on the ground
I can agree with that
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice the ''Ultrahand'' being an homage to the Nintendo toy of the same name.
They even put it in Splatoon 3😂 they love that thing!
@@sethfeldpausch4337 and in Mario Tennis as well
OMG Kits face a 10:39 killed me 😂😂
He broke character
@@indefiniteartblock434 😅😅?!
No one seems to notice, but the music playing in the background is just amazing!
I think ascend exists because there are going to be cave systems under the “surface.” So BotW Hyrule plus sky islands and underground cave systems
Kit's confusion at Link going through the ceiling is almost palpable.
Me: So why did this game take so long again?
Direct: Here's Link's Fuse ability.
Me: Oooohhhhh....
it's a real "life closes a door, but opens a window" - when we see the end of an eshop on one day, and the continuation of a beloved game series the next.
Too bad all we're getting is a $70 DLC
@@tobylopez4514 sure, it's an expansion pack. but the passion around it is palpable.
Calling a whole new game with new features and story and everything a "DLC" is quite a take, I have to say
@(A Hero) Call it an expansion call it a DLC doesn't matter. It's not a "whole new game" they added some mid mechanics into a game they already made lol. Like honestly no hate to the developers and all.. it's just we've waited 6 years for.... minecraft in zelda? Oh boy putting logs together to make a boat. Craftopia. I'm just frustrated.
@@tobylopez4514 it's an entirely new expansion, while utilizing the previous engine and style. same general idea as ocarina of time -> majora's mask. no need for frustration.
I love all the Skyward Sword vibes I'm getting from the focus on verticality in Tears of The Kingdom.
the Fuse ability looks amazing! it's giving me the weapon crafting ability i always wanted in BoTW, but of course with a creative, Nintendo spin on it.
The word gets thrown around a lot but I truly love how intuitive it is. Aside from the quick weapon-style scrolling menu for putting stuff on arrows it's all done in the flow of gameplay
Love the new abilities, obviously Fuse and Ultrahand in particular because of all the experimentation they allow, but Recall (which we've seen used also for combat in a previous trailer) and Ascend are great, too!
There's definitely a lot they're not showing and we might still get an actual Direct, but even if we didn't I wouldn't mind it too much since it would mean discovering all of that myself when the game comes out!
10:25 Interesting when you're talking about gauge to how much stuff you can gloop together, it is interesting that in this case the FOUR propellers had their battery drawn much quicker. I assume maybe Link's arm is the battery and it is limited to how much battery power your arm has and they all take from that?
My guess is that the Zonai civilization never actually went extinct. Instead they retreated underground and further enhanced their magic capabilities over time. When Ganon lifted the ground into the sky, he inadvertently revealed the Zonai and it will somehow aid Link in foiling the evil plans.
I’m so freaking excited for this game. Let’s go!
Maybe the what we all thought were vials are actually batteries and as you collect more the length of the vehicles battery will increase
ah that's a good theory, I was wondering how we would make the vehicles go further since the battery on this demonstration was really short
@@meikaishi Most likely the more items you put together that end up working together, the batteries become one bar and have more life. The propeller fans' battery length were different when they were picked up as opposed to them being on the raft. I don't think that we need to worry about 4 different battery bar cluttering the screen up.
It is indeed hardcore that he uses the main Switch controllers to play with the Switch. 😎
Also I love the cut to the casual happiness of "I fused a mushroom to my shield. :D 🛡️ 🍄"
1:57 The smoke coming from the stable...does it seem unnatural, or is that just me?
I feel like this is the natural evolution of the Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts system from 13 years ago lol
Did you guys already see this bc you were really calm lol.
So excited for this game! I hope you guys do live play throughs when the game comes out!
Kit, the word you're looking for for the 'circles within circles' kind of design are called "concentric circles" and I agree they look really nice!
This demo blew me away! As a developer, the Fuse and Ultrahand systems some of the, if not THE, most complex and intensive pair of systems I've ever seen in a video game, and I already thought BotW's robust physics and the new Alchemy system were previous contenders! I'm so excited to see what they do with this, especially since they're still keeping so many details close to their chest for us to discover in just a few short weeks' time!
The first thing I want to do in this game is fuse the Meat to the arrow. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!
I really want to be able to build a house with the Ultra Hand.
I’m happy with the four new abilities that were shown and disappointed by the lack of brand new songs. I hope the soundtrack of TOTK is different from BOTW and also, it would be cool to have loftwings as a way to fly.
Same here, heard two of what seem to be the same songs from BotW and it hurt a little. Really hoping for some great new music
stable, horse (day) and snow mountain ambient music was the same but we did hear new combat music, new sky island ambient music, diving music (theres music while link is falling) as well as the main new theme (not just the totk main theme but the rest of the song too) that you can hear behind aonuma! I'd say its still more new stuff than same old stuff
Loft wings are extinct by the time of Tears of the Kingdom
Yeah, but there’s really no reason to change Stable or Riding music. I’m sure they’ll have plenty of new music.
@@wayland513 unless ouroboros time loop theory
They say that somewhere Mario Wii U is still on MIiverse commenting on the "Nice Water" to this day.
....why am i so attached to Link's lil head shake after using ascend
I’m really excited for the game. Thanks K&K.
Literally became Frank West from Dead Rising with these Fusion Weapons Lmao 🤣
I had to re-set my seat belt height after watching that gameplay! Super awesome!
"So we're going to talk about nothing instead". Considering you were involved in the marketing for BotW, that hits harder.
We are here not at 7am because - BUT WHERE READY TO REACT THO
Xd the way he just cuts her off
I hope they go back to a more traditional style of Zelda after this. Been playing a lot of the older games and I'm finding them more fun than BotW ever was.
Aonuma has said he has no interest in making a more linear Zelda game for a while. So it's unlikely.
@@wayland513 A new Zelda game can re-introduce most things that people love about traditional Zelda games without making it linear. An open-world Zelda game can have the musical direction of older Zelda games, dungeons, instruments, acrobatic combat abilities.
@@wayland513 That literally means nothing and does not mean dungeons won't make a return. As with the weapon durability system being balanced out with the Fusion system, it is likely we will see a balance with the shrines and dungeons. Aonuma emphasized many times that Hyrule has vastly changed. Making people do more than 100 shrines again will not sell people on that statement.
“Nice water” is the “nice back air” of Trailer reaction videos
That's not a boulder, it's a rock!
I like the fuse and ultrahand features. Adds a minecraftesque twist to the game.
YOU GUYS MADE A UA-cam CHANNEL? YES!
I'm definitely pre-ordering that Switch, pro controller and case! My wallet is dead. 😵
Same 😭 I hope you get it!
Oh and don't forget the game though😅
@@denycast definitely a day one grab as well! I got BOTW and The Switch day one as well! Keeping traditions alive
@@Bassynater2500 yeah me too. Still remember playing the first time
@@denycast I hope the experience playing TOTK is just as memorable for you!
14:17 I think it’s called concentric circles
I already have so many switches I shouldn’t get this one…I’ll settle for the pro controller only this time
Hey if the Zelda team hasn't recorded the Tears of the Kingdom Direct presentation yet I only have one wish:
Producer Eiji Aonuma should repeat the sentence he said at the beginning of the gameplay that the world has changed in many ways.
I wonder if you can somehow communicate that to Aonuma?
Because I have the feeling 80% of the people have not understood exactly that.
Happy Birthday Kitosan!!! 🥳🎂🎉
I think I'll have fun watching videos of people playing this game. But I don't think it's enough to make me enjoy the game.
Well, Link does have the power of the Tri Force & is caught in the reincarnations cycle. That’s why he has inhuman strength.
Kit and krista! I found you!
amazing looking water
Literally no one:
Kit and so many other Nintendo fans: FusE Ze mEaT TO Ze ArROw!
Woo! Been waiting on this since watching it!
I wonder if they way they manage how much to can attach together… is by not allowing you to pocket things like fans and wheels. Meaning, you can only use it in another location if you drag it with you or use it to traverse. But wherever you leave it, it’s stuck there (until you reset the game maybe). There probably is still a limit, but that would be one way to hide it. But it would also be less interesting because you’d only be able to make things with materials in your vicinity. So you’re solutions wouldn’t be very open-ended unless you wasted your time dragging things across the map for no reason. But who knows, there’s nothing saying how that’ll work just yet.
When ToTK is finally out this may, the first thing I’m going to do once I have a bow, some arrows and something to hunt for food or a enemy to defeat is fuse meat with arrows and use them in combat lol. Hopefully all goes well
Extremely awesome
Those enemies are called constructs he said
I am PUMPED!! 😆 - I think that some may be disappointed by the world being similar to that of the previous game - a world that many of us have explored for hundreds of hours. I am not disappointed. I am excited to see the differences, the above and below, the caves and inner structures - perhaps of the Great Plateau. It would really be nice, and I doubt that it is included, but I would really like the ability to swim deeply like you could in Twilight Princess. That is an unexplored realm here in this world so far. If not this game, then the next - please. 😉 - It feels like there will be so many things that are new, and a story that hasn't even been breached yet.
EVERYONE said: Fuse the meat
Seems that the sky islands are taking inspiration from Ancient Greece. Makes sense considering cloud cuckoo land is an idea by Ancient Greek philosophers.
6:25 I laugh at how he says it is too hard to shoot moving objects. WE HAD TO DO THAT IN BOTW ALL THE TIME! Even if not in bullet time, we had to pop moving balloons and acorns with them!!!
Aonuma came up with the idea for the homing arrows himself after his failing eyesight caused him to rage after a session.
@@HarmoniChris And he said, "If the combat is too difficult, you can just find other ways to take out enemies." While yes, in BOTW you could also find other ways, especially with the Majora's Mask, this game has me a bit worried that it won't be hard combat-wise and they are trying to tone it down a bit.
Even if it feels like large DLC, I'm gonna eat this up lol. Im hoping classic dungeons make it in.
No Shrines and dungeons maybe there is something else? Zelda team is hiding that I think. I was happy with this. It looks so good.
The first Zelda where I got put together 3 cylinder engine but got stuck, cause couldn't figure out where to connect the control arm to the CV joint.
In BotW I always wondered why they only showed the guardians from the ancient kingdom, looks like we're going to see its builders in this game. The device building is cool, reminds me of Incredible Machine (DOS game) and those minigames in Dark Chronicles and Rogue Galaxy where you build towns and factories and stuff. Maybe that's half of the puzzles in this game, besides the dungeons.
The ancient kingdom that gave birth to the shrines, towers, Guardians, etc. was the Sheikah around 10,000 years before the events of Breath of the Wild. These Constructs are apparently from the Zonai, a different civilization that is only referenced through the Barbarian armor set.
@@ValiantPixel I think there is some contention around that. The Sheikah are assumed to have created the divine beasts and guardians but I don't recall it ever confirmed in game. 🤔 Maybe I missed it, the game is huge.
And as far as I know there is no "underground" in this game.
@@seanwood3932 It is absolutely confirmed
@@jacobpamplin6449 Out of curiosity, where does it say this?
Edit- I only ask as, does that mean the Golem's were created by the Sheikah too? I agree with the first comment that the Golem "race" may have been the originators.
I always got the impression there was a civilisation far older than the Sheikah and the sheikah just stole and adapted the technology, in the slate, e.t.c.
@@seanwood3932 It's literally in Impa's monologue. The sheikah made the ancient tech, they are the ancient civilization, I don't know how you didn't catch that. They make it stupidly obvious.
Little miffed that they never expanded swimming but these new mechanics have crazy potential!
I wouldn't write it off just yet. When link lands in the water at the end, Ascend is briefly usable when underwater, might be a way to quickly reach the surface when diving.
It definitely doesn’t necessarily feel like a “Zelda” game at this point.
But it does look interesting
12:38 Just leave a cup of water for yourself on the surface. As long as you land in that cup of the water, no damage!
Add the TOTK Pro Controller to my wishlist! TOTK looks good four years later. A delayed game with future potential is better than a rushed game that can't be recovered. We know why the game got delayed for four years. Having the game still be $70 still feels a bit off. Regardless, I'm putting $70 for TOTK! I don't expect Zelda to be playable. It would be awesome to see her be playable in TOTK if it does happen.
They've stated that Link is their focus of the main games and Zelda can be playable in spin offs
@@mr.awesome6011 I already know that. I was just saying it would be awesome if Zelda was playable in the main game.
You need to be able to go gator hunting on fan boats in this game!
It looks interesting like I can't wait to build stuff like Minecraft lol
Feels like Nintendo has no American presence anymore. In 2010s we had y'all, plus a million other "treehouse" people. Now it's like every 6 months we get 30 minutes of straight up ads. Maybe it's for the best. But I miss feeling like Nintendo was a community of young people
I started to watch this but I am going to try and stay away from spoilers. Playing Zelda is like an event for me and I don’t want to see anything that will ruin it.
1:20 I doubt he even touched these controls other than picking it up. All an act. Someone else played, he just voiced the demo. They would rather probably show the Switch joy cons rather than a sold-separately pro controller.
4:45 Your reaction, lmao

Helloo Nintendo Minute :D
I cant fake it, it looks good but thats about it. you combine a stick with a rock and get a stone club... okay? and you can fly around in the sky...
It’s just a 10 minute tease from a 90 hour game and they aren’t going to spoil any surprises.
Game of the Year is going to a hard decision this year.
i already have the splatoon oled and i have 2 pro controllers...i dont need anymore of either. right??
Are you asking if you need the new Switch to play the game? Because if so, no. You can play the game on any Switch.
@@wayland513 oh no not at all. I’m just expressing my temptation to not purchase any of these because I don’t “need” them. Thank you for the response tho
Isn’t the winter section from the great plateau
Most expansive DLC evarrrrrrrr
Zelda Dev: Aonuma-san... players are manipulating the game physics to create bizarre machines.
Aonuma: Well then, you know how we handle that.
Dev: Get Legal to send a series of Cease and Desists to try and make them stop?
Aonuma: No. The OTHER thing we do here.
Dev: Use it as inspiration to develop in-game mechanics for them to build even more bizarre machines?
Aonuma: There ya go! I knew you were smart.
Wasn't too excited for this tbh. But I'm looking forward to this game.
I hate the ascend ability in a sense where it seems like you can escape certain battle situations just by hitting a button.
I love you guys and the channel but I have to be honest, I’m not excited for tears of the kingdom. I’ve loved the Zelda series since I was little, up until BOTW. The changes they made to the series just wasn’t for me. And this new sequel is so exception.I HOPE I’m wrong and the game is phenomenal, but so far this just looks Iike BOTW DLC.
I started with zelda back on the nes in 1991 and while I thought breath of the wild was a very cool and intresting game, I was DONE with it after I finished it. I had some issues with it but yeah, coming back to it AGAIn doesnt do anything for me. I almost enjoyed skyward sword more...
@@quezcatol I’m glad I’m not alone. I know majority of people love BOTW and i can appreciate the game from a technical point of view but the game just lacks so much charm that previous installments had. Maybe they’ll fix that with tears of the kingdom.. but for now I’m skeptical.
This gameplay video deflated my hopes for this game even more. I'm definitely not excited about the extremely gimmicky stuff shown here. I want new scary enemies, amazing, acrobatic combat moves (like in Wind Waker and Twilight Princess), dungeons, amazing electronic soundtrack like Ocarina of Time, and more traditional Zelda stuff. Instead, I'm just seeing stuff that looks lame and not at all what I want from a Zelda game.
Though, your reaction to this was very enjoyable. It's always fun to hear your discussions on Nintendo stuff, Kit & Krysta.
Hype 👏🏽
You see, if you put a rock on a stick...the stick becomes stronger, even unbreakable! Game logic!
Part of my reaction was:
Wait a minute...... I know you........ You are not only Zelda..... YOU ARE MINECRAFT!!!!
Feels closer to what I wanted out of BoTW but still not quite enough... At this point I'm not really into it and really just want a pixel art 2D Zelda again...
sorry couldn't finish the video only got halfway. you might as well have been watching it muted and chopped in to 5 sec clips from every 15 seconds cause from my point of view of what I seen there was no reaction.
A bit underwhelming so far... let's hope there's a lot more than what's on the surface because the surface looks... mostly the same as BotW
The fuse mechanic opens up a world of a possibilities. I think this is every bit as worthy of a true sequel to the openess of BotW.
what?
Why these reaction videos peopl act like they’re 5 years old .
So, my excitement and interest for TOTK just kinda flipped after watching this gameplay footage. I did not like BOTW, particularly because of the survival mechanics, like the weapon durability & stamina system. The fusion system looks rather gimmicky and tedious and I do not find the fusion combo concept all that exciting, but I will give the arrow attachments feature props because the utility of that does seem rather useful. Overall, however, I feel rather deflated and disappointed and after seeing this, I'm starting to doubt whether or not I should get the game. Based on what's been shown so far, it really doesn't look different enough for me to justify the $70 price tag.
Lol
It’s crazy how similar my take is to this. I didn’t really like BOTW to the extent that a majority of people did, and the only part of the main gameplay I liked was the arrow variation. Finally a good use for enemy items! Makes me actually want to fight monsters. I’m getting it for $50 with the online voucher stuff.
Its just BOTW 1.5. PASS
sure....
You do you.. personally I’ll excited to play and explore the new mechanics
I liked my Zelda more linear and focused. Why does everything have to be an open world game with crafting elements these days? Meh!
They talk too much & must of it’s nonsense & silly.
This is their reactions. Why would they just be silent? You can watch the version non Nintendo without them speaking.
