I received my Expert card February 1st from Newegg and it reached a clock of 3080mhz on LV and stock cooler in vertical mount. Vertical mount on these cards blesses your MB with great air flow, and usually remains below 70c. Good luck!
If the Founder's Edition is the classic version, this is what happens when a very good company redoes the body while keeping the car's heart. It's gorgeous for an air cooled card. The Suprim is the best looking card of this generation but this is a VERY close second.
MSI should shift their super gimmicky gamer-GPU designs to this style. It looks really good. It honestly looks nearly as good as the founder edition. And regarding the price increase, I don't see anything wrong in having to pay a bit more for a good looking card. Especially when you have a clean PC setup with a glass panel.
I think I’m finally decided on the 4080 super fe for my new itx build. Last time I built a system Paul was still at the height of his fame with Newegg 😊
For me it was what I could get. Availability is low and people are scalping, so picking this up for retail cost me less than a Founders Edition. Mad world! But I can’t wait to plug her in.
It's hard to beat the looks of the new Super series cards - that stealthy clean/sophisticated looking matte black finish. I already have an RTX 3080 but had to pick up an RTX 4070 Super after seeing how cool it looks.
I have an MSI RX 5700 EVOKE O.C and it's also completely metal with a very stylish design... It was also *the cheapest* RX 5700 around a few months after launch 🤔
Have an MSI Suprim X 4080 and appears to clock at 2820mhz (without overclocking) at around 57 degrees. I was expecting the expert cooler to perform a lot better than what it does.
It’s refreshing to see one oem making a new design, especially since the 40-series cooler designs really were lacking aesthetically compared to the 20 and 30 series generations. Perhaps with exception of ZOTAC, whose curvy coolers actually looked fresh.
if the clock speeds are higher on the expert, isn't cooling at the same temperature as the FE at base clock a good thing? or am i missing something here
I don't expect this card to sell very well given the context of the 4080 Super launch, but really hope MSI keeps making more premium, less "gamer-y" cards. I'm not sure drawing inspiration directly from the founders edition is the right move (because I don't know if they'll ever be able to compete on price) - but I'd definitely be willing to pay a bit extra for a well cooled, well built, and not obnoxious looking GPU
Pay extra over the already obnoxiously high price? I bought the cheapest 4080 I could (gigabyte gaming OC) because of the 200 bucks price drop and still resented the last 200 bucks of the new MSRP. Can't imagine paying another 200 bucks over that for anything, especially looks.
Thank you so much for this Paul!!! When i saw that design at CES: 1. I was happy to see a new design for a cooler, from anyone!! 2. I was curious how it performed. Caffeinator out.

It does look really nice, but the added cost and other properties like noise performance shown here make it a bit of an odd choice for people into that range of card.
I was able to snag one of these and I am pleased with it. It is out performing my dell MSI OEM RTX 3080 10gb.
