"The Kelly Family" have good songs and are great live. But your songs, Eric, have a higher quality, they are MASTERPIECES!
"Johnny B", "Karla with K" & "Satellite" are very unique. The production is also on a high level.
And we love the passion and joy how you, The Hooters, play live. You are so gifted being excellent musicians.

I used to have to listen to all the instruments on your record to show the guys in my school band. It was great ear training. Now I enjoy the subtleties. The song has one of the best arranged intros of all time.

That was great! I had no idea these videos existed. Would love to see more. Always found it fun that this song only hits the dominant chord once.

I second that! (Also, the live album from the 90s should be released to streaming sites. The version of 500 Miles from that is stratospheric.)

Awesome musician. I found it AND Eric by watching Joe Bonamassa in concert ( i believe it was the Carnegie Hall concert). I am always intrigued by new musicians who play with Joe Bonamassa and I researched Eric because Joe would only ever play with the best. I had surprisingly heard a couple of the Hooters songs before and to rediscover their music again is special. Their music never seems old to me and what musician would not appreciate that 'gear' section of the video. Keep them coming Eric and I'll be watching and giving thumbs up to everything.

In a world full of criminally unheralded solos, this may be the number one.

Thanks for this video Eric. Grew up listening to your songs, Johnny B being my all time favourite. It's great to see the "building blocks" of how the song came to be, and really impressed with you being able to recreate it almost better than the original. I've been trying to find a good acoustic live performance of Johnny B by The Hooters or at least a decent cover for a while, but no luck... original (and now this version) are still top of the charts! Thanks for this video, and thanks for the great music over the years!

What fun! The guitar and amp talk is way over my head, but I love hearing the mandolin and recorder!

Hi Eric! It’s really thrilling to hear the details of this amazing, timeless song. If you decide to do another of these Under The Hood videos I would be eternally grateful to learn absolutely everything about Engine 999. That song still makes me feel like I’m soaring, even after all of these years. All the best!

Cool to see you showing us how it's done. I love that solo....gets me fired up whenever I hear it. BTW, how come you don't play it live anymore? I only see John play it...which he slays, of course. But, I just love the angst and attitude and fire that you had on the original recording!

Good question, I've just watched a video from 1987 where Eric plays it and totally slays...
