Starting our vlog with Japanese matcha fun games called Chakabuki at Simply Native Japan in Surry Hills. In this fun blind tasting matcha, we learnt about Japanese tea ceremony, different types of matcha from different region, and factors that make matcha tastes different for different purposes like ceremonial or culinary (food grade). We also tried to grind Japanese green tea tencha using the stone mill to matcha and taste the freshest grind matcha with some Japanese sweets imported from Kyoto. Simply Native with the workshop is very informative especially for you who love to learn more about Japanese culture, arts and craftsmanship.
Then, we started our food vlog with slurping some Hokkaido style ramen place in Sydney called Take Sushi and Sora Ramen in Newtown. We tried their Sapporo Soy Ramen once and this time decided to try the Hokkaido Miso Ramen, oh boy, it did not disappoint! This place also serves Hiroshima style okonomiyaki called Hiroshimayaki. Compared to Osaka style okonomiyaki, this one has noodle (yakisoba) with thinner dough. So far, this is the only place in Sydney that does Hokkaido or Sapporo style ramen plus Hiroshima style okonomiyaki.
Second ramen restaurant in Sydney is Lonely Mouth by Rara Ramen in Newtown as well. This is a vegan ramen restaurant in Sydney and this was our first time trying vegan ramen like Vegan Soy Miso and Sunflower & Hempseed Shoyu Ramen.
For Japanese cake dessert, we had to show you Azuki Bakery again - yes we've featured them before in this video: • This JAPANESE FOOD is ...

I've watch you videos 5x now and it never goes old i miss matcha and okonomiyaki nice video guys i miss watching you guys travel again but i love watching you guys try some foods in sydney keep same guys
@@selwensarmiento9024 thank you so much selwen🥰 next video has a bit of travel locally here, finally!😂
It's funny because we didn't love Japanese sweets when we went to Japan but we have slowly learned to love them. And they are truly fantastic with good green tea.
What a cool experience with the tasting. The host is so knowledgeable. I wanna be her best friend. 😄😃
Thanks for covering one of my favorite cuisines, cheesecake is looking extra delicious in the end!
You guys talking about Japan make us dream about all the things we love about Japan. Yes, Helmi, that is the right reaction to the noodles!
Now, I am going to have to cook some type of noodles for Lieles today 🤣🤣
Delicious Japanese food :) You guys are the best!
thanks man :)
Oh wow. That's how matcha powder is made! Ohhhh buckwheat flour bread with matcha 🍵🍵🍵 perfect combination 👏 nice... Really miss traveling to Japan, man...
Same here🥺😕
Sushi and Ramen are our favorite foods, everything is looking so good watching this video is really not easy!
Hahaha we should meet up in Japan, you guys would love the food there 🙂
Matcha tasting sounds like a dream, really craving for some right now! Love everything about Japanese cuisine!
Yesss🥰🥰
Ramen looks mouth watering.. so filling and so much toppings mmmm! 😋❤ definitely big portions!
Yesss so huge haha
I'm a green tea lover 🍵, thanks for this video 🥰🥰
Thank you🙂🙌🏻
Ooh cheesecake!! Delish!!!
What is this Helmi? 😂 We would try that vegan ramen. By the way, beautiful shot of the city at 16:48! Love how Helmi always gets super excited about dessert. That looks excellent.
Woots guys!!! Congrats on 40K! 😍
Thank you guys🙏🏼
Thanks for this wonderful video.
Thanks Yasin😁
@@nickandhelmi 😀
I would be just as excited as Helmi is to go to Azuki. Love Japanese bakeries, I would be there every day, and I would be a million kg
That cheesecake looks delish, good you guys got some rest and got ready for this!
Whoa 40K congrats guys! Matcha'd out 😂 love me some matcha!
Thanks guyss🤩
Those noodles do look quite thick. We like that. And we've been actually having Okonomiyaki a lot lately. It's a very addictive taste.
That Matcha place totally inspired me. I've been drinking Matcha for years as part of my morning routine and I was anxious about not finding a real good Matcha in Sydney when I go back from the US. Being a huge tea (almost a connoisseur) person quality matters alot. You gave me hope and I don't have to fill up my suitcases with Matcha 😂
That ramen place in Newtown... I just ate but got hungry watching it. Being a noodle nerd (I make my own hand made noodles) again I was inspired. Not all hope is gone 😂. First places I'm hitting are those top 3 minus vegan ramen. Nothing against vegan food, but anything that's rich in nutty flavor isn't my cup of tea.
Thanks guys for the content!
Yess that place Simply Native has so much variety of matcha that the owner source herself from Japan and she was learning tea ceremony for years, super knowledgeable about matcha😁
I loved the matcha place and the ramen 🍜 looked Delicious ..The cakes looked good and I agree the vegan Ramen was too thick ..Loved watching Helmi and Nick always a great video ..x💖🥰
Thank you Irena 😊🙏🏼
Awwwh Ramen and okonomiyaki! Now I'm craving for it haha! Hokkaido miso ramen looks rich and thick, don't we all miss Japan ☹️ noodle looks perfectly cook, watching you guys eat I'm so hungry now! 🤣 Gosh more ramen, so jealous!!! 😆 I love your Donald duck sweater Helmi! That yuzu cheesecake looks so yums! 😍
Hahaha my fave sweatshirt!! Been wearing it for 5+ yrs loll
Thank you!! I have now discovered my Okonomiyaki spot in Sydney to eat! My ever first time trying it was in Hiroshima, there was a whole building level of this dish and it was made infront of me. Was so yummy, and I know its version is different to Osaka, so I was hoping to try that style again :)
Yay! Glad we can show you hehe hope you enjoy it though
Feels like you guys are in Japan! (Yeah sucks we can't travel...) So awesome to see you guys experiencing the tea griding! Lol yes Matcha hits me the same way too!
yes it does feel like in japan right hehe :D
The matcha tasting was so cool to see! I love matcha but I don't think I would be able to identify which is which either 😅
Same here lolll😂
Damn, we missed you again in Burwood last Sunday. We also were there for the evening markets. Next time we go there I have to look around better :) I might have seen the guy with the gimbal behind Nick in the outro :)))) thanks for another tasty video!
Hahaha😂 dont worry we are everywhere in sydney especially food places 👀
Great video
thank you jeff :)
Love that your brought your own spoon! You should get a cutlery set to use whenever you travel. Saves on all those takeaway cutlery, especially when you are trying so much in a day 🤣
What a great idea!!💯😁
Such a hassle
Yum the miso ramen looks so good! I find it so interesting how the dishes vary in Japan throughout the country. You don't really get that in the Uk because the weather is so similar everywhere. Hope you guys get to go to Japan soon!
Hopefully 🥰 and let's all meet up in Japan hehe
We were lucky enough to have Hiroshima okinomiyaki in Hiroshima. It is just so good. You definitely have to get to Hokkaido though, covid willing. The food and the countryside is gorgeous. We love it in Winter but sometimes there can be a lot of snow. A lot. We were stuck in Osaka for a few days because Sapporo airport was closed because of snow - but totally worth the wait. Oh yeah, if you do go to Hokkaido the best traditional Hokkaido cheesecake is from Farm Design in the north (we went to their farm) but I think they have a few places in Hokkaido now,
You're spoiled for choice with good ramen in Sydney. We moved to Melbourne a few years ago and the ramen is nowhere near as good as in Sydney.
Great video, thanks 😀
Yes shane, agreed we cannot wait to travel again! Melbourne has some good ones no? Let us know if u spot one! We love the ox tongue from menya ☺️👍
@@nickandhelmi ooh, will have to try the ox tongue. Otherwise in Melbourne we liked Gogyo, but that is also in Sydney. One of our faves in Sydney was Gumshara at Chinatown 😀
good video
Thanks Joseph🙌🏻
👍👍
😁😁
That last version of ramen in the vegan restaurant was TonkOtsu which is a cheat version of regular ramen. I have done it myself. I am back in Pyrmont = hopefully I will bump into you both
Oh nice hailey, welcome back :) will you be in sydney for sometimes or just short term?
@@nickandhelmi I am here permanently now. I live near the old Fishmarkets & Channel 10
I could sense some awkwardness and difficulty expressing your thoughts while inside Lonely Mouth. I walked past the restaurant once and I saw it was tiny. So I know you were holding back because they can hear you. 😁😁😁 I love Azuki. I have not found a bakeshop in Sydney that can do a proper melon pan like them. I just wish they served it with softserve.
Haha thank you! we love to be honest while give constructive feedback from our own opinion & experience 🙂 Yes I wish Azuki can put the ice cream like in Osaka 🥺
Im not vegan but i kinda want that vegan ramen! The broth looks tantalizing!
Hehe yea, was a bit much for us- it was heavy and rich , very personal preference on that one
Vegan Soy Miso seems like something I would love to try soon, I am huge fan of Miso soup (Gokce)
We love miso too😋
I am still in search of a decent gluten free ramen place. As I am allergic to wheat, so limited with food choices. let me know if you ever find a gluten free ramen place in Sydney.
Vegan ramen, wow, that is awesome, love how restaurants are stepping up around the world to offer vegan options.
If Nick is speechless, that means it surprised your tastebuds that much.
Lieles says, just go with him next time and he will take all the extra noodles from your dish 😂😂
hy nick and helmy im ricky from indonesia
can i ask you somethink for information
Yes :) please ask!
First LET"S GOO
thank you tommy :)
I have tried hokkaido ramen today as I am craving but so sad the taste is way way to far from the authentic hokkaido ramen😔. Also, the toppings are to little compare to other ramen resto. Not worth the penny......
I will explore the matcha nextime. 😊😊
Owhh we've never been to Hokkaido so we couldn't compare it with authentic flavour in Hokkaido, sorry!
Hokkaido miso ramen.. no butter? No Butter?
Maybe it got dissolved already haha😅 but got corn 👌🏻
