  • We took the J-16 on a weekend trip last December to catch some fish and bring back a good haul of oysters. It was a fantastic, calm and sunny day and we spent most of it on the water. We caught a good number of redfish and a handful of trout before stopping for some oysters. It was the first time for Corey to gather oysters, next time we'll make sure to have some gloves that fit! Afterward we headed up to Fripp and caught a few more lazy trout. Overall a fun day on the water with a lot of action and a little bit of relaxing.

Wow what an awesome day’s fishing. Didn’t know it was legal to harvest oysters like that. You guys killed it. Good memories.

Yes, for Trout and sheepshead drive to the visitors center at the entrance to the Fripp bridge. All the way out towards the surf (and across the walking bridge) there’s a small lagoon/creek with lots of dead trees in it. Set up there as the tide comes in, starting around low tide. There should be several boats in there most days, and often someone wading or shore fishing. Fan cast zman lures with a chartreuse tail and a 3/16 to 1/4 jig head. Vary retrieve speed and search them out. For sheepshead, cast a fiddler crab under a cork right up against the tree trunks and keep trying, they’re great at taking your bait. There are likely redfish there too, try mud minnows under a cork for them. There’s also a large lagoon near the lighthouse with a few ppl fishing. Last one would be fishing in the Johnson creek inlet mouth for bull reds.

@@terrywatson7836 I was thinking the same thing. I frequent that area quite a bit and that looks nothing like it
