My 98 Corolla had a check engine light for the past 15 yrs of its life and it was the same code. I just ignored it and the car went on to reach 425k miles before the engine died.
In my experience, if you live in an area where inspections are required to renew your tag you will fail for a catalyst system failure code., that's the only time it's an issue to be honest.
i need HELP ,my 96 tacoma 2.4L check engine light appears and scanner wont communicate, check engine light disappear and scanner communicate with no code ,any suggestion
I recently changed my sparks plugs exact same engine and truck, when I changed them I found NGK R on the passenger side and Denso on the driver side, I replaced them all with Denso twin electrodes. Do you think I did the right thing or should’ve put NGK on the passenger side? Because couple of weeks after check engine light turned on, thank you for your videos, they’re so helpful. Greetings from Canada!

lol, sadly there was no point except to expect the code at around 200K. I got the same code too, one of the O2 sensor on the catalytic converter was dead.
Same exact code on my Tacoma at about the same mileage. Thanks for posting!!

I'm guessing you could fix this permanently if you replace the air fuel sensor, correct?
