Hapkido is the most well-grounded martial art for self defence

GB's jokes need work and it was always so but his HKD does work. I studied with both Geoff and his teacher as well as the Grand master. All three are not perfect men but HKD does work, I assure you. I have it in the tool kit and it works.

This is a bit interesting maybe the arm break will cause him to lose his grip most things i see just make him drop the knife and only work 4to 5 times out of 10 or you have to have your own knife to me the force and you still mite get cut ,and the last bat avoidance is something to think about as well so good stuff to think about if your serious about street defence !

I can't agree more with his rule at 1:05, I think that Korean martial arts in general subscribe to that single rule. In fact, I think it is not just a rule for them it is a commandment, written in stone, handed down by their all mighty. I can't say that, in general, that isn't a bad idea but when it is the only idea, I think it is a problem. As I see it, it is there only method.

Hapkido is, as far as I think, the only Korean art I can even half way stomach but any art that spends a lot of time on unrealistic knife s.d. Most knife defense is very unrealistic for a real street fight.

I’m sure there is a reason he always tosses the knife to the ground after each move and his student picks it up. Can someone explain why? Because from my point of view it’s looks rude.

Legendary Hapkido master, and I respect his ability in the fields of joint locks and throws - but these knife defenses are suicide. Anyone who truly wants to understand realistic knife defense must study Silat or Kali.
