    Very grateful for this video - thanks Amesie! With the vid and some descriptive links (Saabnet etc) on how to do a heater core replacement on my 1998 Saab 9000 (Anniversary model), I took the plunge. Trickiest was shifting (not completely removing) the evaporator and blower, both of which fit into the cavity, ever so snugly. It took my son and I some time to keep jiggling these to and fro, to get the units out and placed out of the way. I didn't disconnect the silver AC lines - I shifted the evaporator and there's enough flex in the AC lines to move the evaporator forward and up. Same for the blower. The heater hoses can be unclipped last, as it's much easier to get to the hose spring clips with everything else out. Getting the evaporator and blower back in place needed a bit of to and fro movement and some frustration once again but all worked in the end. Like I said, for an amateur like me, 2 people and a few hours got the job done.

    You can actually replace the heater core and cabin fan without removing the evaporator housing. I've done it couple of times on my '95 CDE.

    • @mds2465
      @mds2465 4 роки тому

      I know but that thing was in there for so long that I'm sure it needed a good thorough cleaning inside and out. I also would've replaced the CDE badges which I saw were missing on the car and perhaps the shift knob as well. I think I saw the gear pattern combination piece had snapped off which is very common on Saabs. Maybe throw some black paint on the wiper arms as well but other than that the car turned out great and hopefully Donny will get a lot more miles out of it.

    good job,but why did you leave the cabin air filter out of the air box at 8.25 and when you put new foam seal on the cover at 10.10

    This is one of the job I may need to do on my S9000CSE 98. There is some amount of coolant appearing under front passenger's carpet and I suspect the heater core is the reason. Can someone confirm this may be the case? Thank you for sharing.

    I think my next SAAB is gonna be a 9000.
    They're dirt cheap compared to classic 900's, but they're still very classic SAAB compared to my NG900's and my 9-5. Well, classic SAAB with some Italian flair...

    Ac tubes should be disconected?

  • @TheKrookodil
    @TheKrookodil 7 років тому

    Hi, how did you avoid leakage from the AC lines on the left side of the motor? by unplugging them dont you need to refill the AC system afterwards? I have the same problem with my heater core on my 9000. Greetings from Sweden!

    sir do you know anything electrolysis causing heater cores to go out my last car was a 95 Aurora when I got up the heater core was bad it cost $800 big money to get it fixed. a couple of months later heater core went out again the mechanic told me that it was due to the fact radiator was not properly grounded do you know anything about this???

    • @hugeslacker
