I definitely feel like the first few looked the way they looked because the Qu tried to mimic some of Earth's other natural species. They might have been inspired by how unique each creature was and wanted to see if they could recreate human versions of them. Either way the Qu most definitely were very full of themselves. Like they were leagues above the rest of the universe because of how intelligent they were.
The same way we come up with such horrifying abominations, we sub-consciously combine qualities that represent certain concepts, relevant to the message we're trying to send through a specific work, and among all humans arts, there are constants. The real question is, what is the subject matter, and internal processes the Qu use to express their ideas through their genetic abominations? What possible reference for the imagination, and internalization of those ideas, could these insectoid, interplanetary species of godly power wielding, overt- narcissists, POSSIBLY FUCKING REQUIRE?!
I could imagine the colonials not only being a punishment for their extreme retaliation, but also something along the lines of "You want to defend this planet so badly? Then be part of it!"
as always, interesting and cool ps. In my opinion Qu also lerned our old culture and bring to reality our legends. There is mention in book that dome species of predators were simular to goblins or trolls, some flying humans that looks like angels or demons from christian religion and simular to orks bone crushers.
Oh, I think that turning humans back into their near-paleolithic state (with some changes like claws and sharper teeth) was very probable, seeing that killer folks ended up looking most "human" of them all (with satyriacs being close second because they weren't really changed much). The Qu reverted humans back to be more or less like their distant ancestors, so they relived the evolution of us humans. Bloodshed and wars that plagued their history is also reminiscent of us.
I figure its a mix of logistic to the worlds ecology fae trickery! Thinking up ironic fates for their victims whilst keeping in mind what’s suppose to fit for the environment.
If I may, I'd want to propose an idea for a video. I would be great to hear you speculate about the descendants of the Striders, the Titans and the Mantelopes, if they had come to exist. You do a fantastic work expanding the AT universe with your theories.
That is an excellent idea, and I'm now kicking myself for not having thought of it myself lol. I will get around to making that video one day soon, and I'll make sure to credit you for it too :)
I like to imagine that each separate group of the Qu re-designing the humans had different ideas. I wonder if they ever met together back on their Qu-ships and headquarters, swapping ideas. "So, what did you make?" "Oh, I turned them into mindless creatures that'll soon become enslaved by the lizards they once raised. Quite ironic." "I turned some humans into worms that'll burn up in the Sun if they go outside their tunnels. Now they need to live underground!" "I created a permanently-horny race of creatures that have orgies all the time!" "... What?"
Intresting to think about, good to get a video from you, they likely got their inspiration from a range of things probably the planet and Star people culture like you said, also from their own species like the aquatic larve and swimmers or because they fly they made alot of flying humans, they probably also made them just from their imagination or their image of the perfect human animal or pet for that world, also from nature aswell but some where simply a punishment like the colonials and symbiotes. Looking forward to future videos
I would turn the qu into powerless, unmovable organisms that were able to see and survive well, (with fully retained memory) then spread them across the galaxy to the planets they modified, and let them live and me tormented by what they created
why do the Qu feel so ironic to themself eccpecialy on the segment of the predator and prey and in some sort of irony they just described themself like man thats some good irony and metaphors right there
If you are wondering, yes i am currently in the way to watch all the videos you made lol, also, i feel like the Qu used the weapon they hold in the image as an actual weapon to strerminate
My take has always been that the qu are either from, or carried great interest in earth, since everything we know about the qu is over a billion years diluted anyways. It would explain why the first odd fossil found was one of earthen origen, and it'd explain the way the qu just spliced humanity, maybe they thought these lesser beings from a planet they've long outgrown don't deserve to keep the empire they've made in their footsteps, and instead have just been reverted back into the animals they'd be relative to the qu, though I think a part of the whole point of the book is that humanity could have easily been another species version of the qu, just showing up and making them weird as hell for no reason, and then one day all leaving off to some place an unknowable amount away. Either that or they just showed up and decided to optimize humanity for the planets they wanted to live on so desperately, showing them how hellish it'd be if they stayed too long.
Actually the colonials bring up some strange questions. They are said to be useful to clean Qu sewage but, if they were so highly advanced and modified themselves to be perfect then why would they need sewer systems? Wouldn't they have the equivalent of a laser bidet? Or wouldn't you just modify your body to be a perfect metabolism or to excrete infinitesimal amounts of waste? I feel like little clues like this point out that the Author is indeed just that. Whatever his professional qualifications his purpose in the work is to ultimately sell more books. And much like the story teller in Aladin he knows that a good story helps sell stuff.
The Qu wanted to torture them for millions of years, so while they most definitely didn’t need organic waste systems, they liked the idea of punishing humans for the very act of existing, let alone resisting their invasion.
Little did the Qu know that there own intervention with human genetics is what caused the entire qu civilization to fall. It's like the old saying goes in science. "Just because we can do something doesn't necessarily mean we should."

I like this explanation. Before, I was inclined to think that the Qu were purely cruel and evil. However, though I definitely do not agree with it, I can understand their philosophy and how they could come to the conclusion that what they were doing was right. The Gravitals are certainly worse than the Qu, and honestly the Asteromorphs are not much better than the Qu, just a different set of circumstances.
The Asteromorphs were the chilliest ones. All they did was genetically modify the subjects to repopulate planets with new life forms. The subjects were “just” animals or non intelligent organisms at that point. And non of the forms were cruel or torture in nature like with the Qu and Gravitals. Just remade into new animal forms. And some subject species were made into intelligent civilization species. They even kept the Gravitals around after the war. The galaxy became a peaceful community again. With a prosperous highly advanced technology with the help of other extra galactic species. The Asteromorphs basically became a good/less self importance version of the Qu. Of which they later defeated. They had highly advanced philosophy after all, to counter balance their high intelligence.
You should do an all others tomorrow where the predators go extinct and the price species of post humans becomes dominant but I like thinking of the idea of all the prey post humans go out and all but one species of prayer post humans die out and that's the killer folk.
