I dont remember who but I heard someone sah that season 1 felt like a series of 1st drafts. There was potential in each episode, but it never felt like any real effort went into the script/storyline. It felt cheap to me, despite the massively increased budget.

I personally didnt think it felt cheap but im shocked that with the higher budget and fewer episodes that the stories were lacking a bit.

It was all nonsense. We didn’t make Ruby’s mum important, RTD did and there was no payoff 🙄

      I agree fully.

FrFr I didn’t even care that she was just a normal person, but RTD literally made her out to be something more or special. It was a terrible twist.

@@OfficialKequan 100%, if it wasnt so setup it would have worked but everything around ruby was just a false mystery

been watching clips and "whovians" try to make it all make sense, from "well my head cannon is..." to "well in this episode it mentions this, and then this episode....."
the cope is real. The whole series never made any sense. The new fans are soo fake that i saw one recently say "When will Nchuti Doctor find Galifrey?" Last i checked, Jodie's Doctor found it, and the Master turned the time lords into Cyberman Hybrids and had destroyed Galifrey, again.
I'm still waiting for Capaldi to just wake up at the north pole and reveal that everything from him turning to Jodie on was just a midlife nightmare, a post regeneration crisis.

I personally like to think that Sutekh was not truly attached to the TARDIS that whole time.
My personal head canon was that Donna spilling coffee onto the TARDIS in Wild Blue Yonder caused the TARDIS to spin out of control, into and through Sutekh's time tunnel prison. That was when Sutekh managed to grab a hold of the TARDIS. We then see Susan Triad as Isaac Newton's maid, the first time we meet a Triad. I think during the crash, it's possible that 73 yards away, Triad was there and Sutekh and The TARDIS' perception saw and catalogued this random woman. He very well couldn't do it to Isaac Newton as he was too well known and popular, meaning Sutekh's best choice was some ordinary woman.
The TARDIS then crashes into the edge of the universe as it has been trying to fling Sutekh off it, exhausting it leading to its groaning in Wild Blue Yonder. the TARDIS even warns The Doctor that something more is wrong with a song about aerial war, indicating the battle the TARDIS is having with Sutekh while flying.
The TARDIS runs away, and they say it's because something scared it away and are made to believe that it was the Not Things, but I believe that the TARDIS lost and Sutekh takes full control as the TARDIS needs time to mend and steals the TARDIS to enact his plan. (Sutekh's transformation is possibly due to The Doctor spilling the salt giving Sutekh tons of power due to all of the superstitions, this causing his transformation during his flight through the time stream with The TARDIS rather than the time stream itself transforming him which is what he may have assumed based on the experience from his perspective).
Then, while using his powers combined with the control of the TARDIS, "goes back" to each time when The Doctor landed after his initial encounter with him, making it so he was also there, generating a bunch of Susan Triads. This would be why The Doctor says his memory of the night Ruby was left keeps changing, because everywhere the TARDIS has ever landed is now vulnerable to change, because those landings are being revisited. This is why Sutekh isn't destroyed by The Silence when they blow up the TARDIS or when the TARDIS imploded in Journey To the Center of the TARDIS or why Idris never told him when The TARDIS inhabited her body, because he didn't stop everywhere to avoid damage or being found (Explosion, implosion, getting thrown into a star, anytime defenses are down or when Jack or Clara hold onto the TARDIS in travel).
After the TARDIS regains some strength to take controls back, it goes to save the Doctor, still playing the war song signifying that its battle is ongoing.
So, why is Ruby's mom important?
Because just like Sutekh chose a random woman when it landed in Susan while the TARDIS was damaged, The TARDIS chooses Ruby's mother when it landed on Ruby Road after regaining some control. A woman the doctor didn't think would be consequential to him. A random woman to hide from everyone vs the random woman who is everywhere. A mystery that the TARDIS couldn't let The Doctor or Ruby find out. Why was her face blurred in the memories? The TARDIS didn't want anyone to knew and the memory TARDIS was enacting that will. They couldn't see her. Otherwise, Sutekh wouldn't have anything unknown to fear. But as long as The TARDIS could protect this woman's identity, Sutekh had an exploitable weakness. Fear of the unknown.

Sutekh only destroys living material? So the clothing and possessions of everyone "dusted" were left behind?
