I just joined the army. When straight to Ranger School after BCT so i was in training a whole year straight. When people ask me how the military has been I just dont know what to say cuz I havnt done shit other than want to die, and I havnt even started yet.
My uncle was an F-14 tomcat navigator until he crashed in 1993 due to pirate air in San Francisco. Because he decided to go out with a young newer pilot and well shit happened. But he did one time him and the pilot did miss the hook on the ship when they were landing and they went over, but that’s a costly mistake those things aren’t cheap.

Yea when it comes to getting orders for your next duty station in the navy, you just select your like too 6 available and wait to see which one they give you. It took me three cycles once just to find out my next duty station

My dad was his XO's orderly for a while. He had security clearance and managed to sneak a peak at the plans the Navy had for his ship. Massive overhaul: new electronics suite, new communications, new radars, entirely new weapons, it was going to be a completely different ship. Then Jimmy Carter happened. I mean, they did give the ship Harpoon missiles but it wasn't the refit the Navy had planned on. Though, I sometimes think about my dad handling sensitive information and I ponder the wisdom in that. I know my dad. He's my dad. He's also a lot like Curly Howard.
The thing about privates thinking they could pick a duty station was so real in my basic people tried to trade and pay for them.

The dream is real. They will try and send you to the bases you pic..BUT if there are no openings for your job then they send you where they need you. Hence why if you end up at a base you didn't pick, you go an apply again and tell them. Or you go to Korea for a year etc. Heck I knew a dude that loved Japan so much he was there for 10 years. All about knowing how to work the system
