- Olympic Champion of 2006 at the 2010 European Championships in Tallin. He won the gold medal.
I do not own anything of this. This video was made just for fun. All the rights belong to their owners.
Look at his face expressions in this video, his movements, his body language, he fits his art, his talent with the music, the ice, he is" the whole package". How does anybody say he is just jumping s? oh please, something is wrong with their computers or their glasses.
Nobody should be able to go away from competition for as long as Plushenko did and come back like THIS! He is absolutely amazing!
So, if some skater just performs doubles or no jumps at all, but cleaner than everybody else, he deserves the gold.
Olympic was invented to break records, to watch extraordinary men and women performing extraordinary achievements. Plushenko did it.
I don't care that Evgeni didn't skate smoothly, because he does it with so much passion, energy and emotions that it just amazes me each time I see him on ice.
Lysacek,,, I personally heard of him only at the Olympics in 2010 and forgot already. As for Plushenko, he's been there since 2000... and continues to be a champion even now!!! So this really tells who was the winner in 2010! :)
that's true mellowmarsh0220, the "wow!! factor", I agree, I am convinced the Olympics is to watch extraordinary men and women performing extraordinary accomplishments.
Evan and Plushenko did great performances, Evan cleaner but less difficult, he had a shaky landing too, Plushenko was the only one who did two quads in both programs, some shaky landings, but overall it was amazing, well done, as always.
Many people like Evan performance, in my opinion he was the robot.
He skated beautifully. He's a champion and an amazing athlete.
It's a sport with judges.
4 years from now the American's will be complaining.
This is how it is.
Plushenko, instead, when he got the ice rink is like you watch another person, completely transformed, possessed by his own genius, it's what the audience perceive, that's why the wow response.
he was amazing!!!here and at this year olympics!!!he always was the best, this was clear his medal!!!!!
Very good and modern program! He is brilliant skater. Such speed, energy, style.
Evgeni, we love and respect you!
Let's put last night into perspective. To come from a 3-year layoff and STILL achieve an Olympic medal (even if it's silver) is pretty remarkable! This, alone, proves what a great champion he is, especially since Lysa won by only 3 (more or less) points in the free skate.
I doubt very seriously that any of last night's other competitors could have achieved such a feat.
It doesn't get better than this!!! He is the best of all of them. A true champion.... I hope and wish that he'll win the gold on the olympics too because i can't think of anyone who deserves it more than him. And i hope that he will stay for another year at least cause figure skating is so much poorer and less fascinating without him.
❤
Pure elegance, style and grace. The legendary prince.
he should have won gold. I DONT CARE IF IM AMERICAN, HE SHOULD HAVE WON THE DAMN GOLD! HE WAS MUCH BETTTER!!!!
From NY Times ( /2010/02/20/sports/olympics/20longman.html) : Lysacek received only a judges warning for a wrong-edged takeoff on his triple flip, not a 2- or 3-point deduction that would have changed the outcome, which was narrowly decided in his favor by 257.67 points to 256.36.
Who is the real Champion???
Plushenko is the best of all!! He will be a legend, we have no doubt about it (to be honest he is already). :)
He deserved gold.
Only Plushenko can land those uneven swing jumps.
That's what makes him a God.
I will be glad to see him first in WINTER OLYMPICS 2010. He deserves it!
Zhenya, judges don't deserve even to watch your performance... Gorgeous!
I have to admit that Evan made his greatest performance ever but there is only one thing for what he must have been punished: He gave his routine to the judges that would include a quad followed by a triple that he didnt do which is considered by judges a "lack of confidence" at any international tournament. So Id like to know what the judges have to say about it. Plushenko performed his entire routine, well enough to win Gold that was stolen from him.!
Didn't know that. So Evan didn't follow his routing. How could he still had gold. He should receive penalty for that. 2010 Olympic gold is truly a marred gold and it had been stolen from Plushenko.
majestuoso , carismatico .
I heard some reporter asked Plushenko if he believed he was the winner, and Plushenko, honest, sincere and confident, replied "Yes", and I really think he was not the only one.
By the other hand, does anybody ask Evan if he thought he was the winner?
If they did, I am sure he would ve answered "No, or I was not sure". Thats what his face reflects when the cameras showed him on television after Plushenko's performance, he was sitting, calm, humble, admiring his idol.
Evgenii is the best - he deserves platinum not the gold. MASTER OF ICE!!!
Ahh he's wonderful. My absolute favourite to watch
You'll always be the best, Evgeni.
He's an excellent skater..I love the way he moves on the ice..
Such incredble height on the jumps!
I love both Plushenko and Yagudin. For me, Plushenko is a fighter, and his style is less meditated and more untamed than Yagudin. But that is his style and I love his energy and his courage to come back when he already had an Olympic gold.
To me he is the king of ice!!!
he's the ultimate best. hope he wins the olympics too!!!!!!! rock on plushhhh :))
Plushenko! You are my champion!!!
best in the world, he deserved the gold no doubt.
he always makes the public follow the music with claps ^^
fantasticoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! un grande !!!!!!!!!!!! l'espressione del suo essere commuove !!!!!!
Un grande atleta...emoziona ogni volta! :)))
Stefania Origlia :-))
:))))))))))))))) Tina Aceto !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love evgeni! best thing I've heard him say.... its not mens skating without the quad. true dat
I am a proud American, and I agree Plushenko was ROBBED!!!!!!!
This was awesome.
Can't believe he withdrew form worlds... there's really no competition now... everyone left.
He's really one of a kind! ^^
i love him. he really is the best on ice
I hate that the new scoring system forces him to do all those really ugly sit spin positions. His spins before his first retirement were much prettier. But this was a commanding performance - he had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand :) It was like that in Vancouver, too - you couldn't tear your eyes off him while he was performing. Lysacek's performance made me want to go to sleep.
simply the best!
@journeyway86 No matter his big nose. He is the most sexy skater, he has the most interesting personality, he is the best skater ever. Need something else?
Yeah same proformence too :D I love this one alot.
he is the greatest on ice, First place so far and he'll get the gold no chance the others will. Plushenko rocks!
I cant understand how he didn't win the gold medal, i guess that sports in politics after all
You are right, look at today, Russian athletes are band for world sports. Sports is politics and America is good at that. This 2010 Olympic was definitely political influenced.
Amazing! Very very good.
the man has the genes of a cat, he NEVER falls!
@imask8er123
Really - I agree about mens skating in general- but i think Lysacek and Chan both have less emotion than Plushenko, Plushenko responds to the music he skates too-dramatic and anguished for tosca, flirty and posing in a tango, elegant and heartbreaking for the ballet influenced Nijinsky, a lot of skaters just do what the choreographer tells them (Yagudin was another emotive skater AND a jump machine- they're rivalry was outstanding because they were such complete skaters technique and artistry which is what we want no?)
What?
Evgeni Plushenko is the best
He is the 2006 Winter Olympics gold medalist, 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics silver medalist, three-time World Champion, six-time European Champion, a four-time Grand Prix Final champion and an eight-time (1999-2002, 2004-2006, 2010) Russian national champion.
I now have a very deep respect for figure
skating as a whole, especially male figure skating. This is because not only are the men
performing feats of great physical strength and endurance (which is traditionally expected of them),
they are also performing feats of great flexibility and artistic expression (which is traditionally not).
Whereas this makes some people uncomfortable, in my case it serves only to impress.
@AstridSGarcia If Lysa was more artistry, why Plushy got more points for his presentation? This is an american ignorance in this matter. Evan won with the technically points, therefore was the big scandal. Evgeni should have won.
Evgeni Plushenko, "Cat on Ice!"
@maelou00 What do you think about Evan's underrotated 3A and wrong-edged 3F in Vancouver? Evan recieved only a judges warning for a wrong-edged 3F, not a 2-3 point deduction!!! This isn't my opinion, this is fact.
indeed, he left for three years but is back for the olympics.
I also feel that they are entitled to their opinions on the matter, even if those
opinions do not agree. Besides, I'm biased. I enjoy Plushenko's skating much more because there is
something very different about it. It strikes me as gutsier and more personal. I'm also impressed with
his entire career. In this olympics he had only recently come back to competition after a three year
break, and for his sport his is getting up there in years.
@Internal8Failure Plushenko exudes confidence, he moves with a lot of style and elegance and perfection and he does all that while still looking manly.
/watch?v=QAMATAtaVXc
I have to agree. Plushenko is in a class all of his own.
plushenko shouldve won the gold. it didnt make any sense i was there and devastated when he lost. i think he was unfairly judged.
1:15 was so beautiful!
No, I don't understand why he was silver,,,
To be honest, Takahashi's performance was the best at Olympic no matter he made mistakes, fell or what.
And Plushenko and Daisuke Takahashi were better than Lysacek.
@ohgoodgrief1 it seems that you haven't watched Plushchenko before, he is the master of the ice & it's him who got it all, trust me.
Yes!!! He is BACK!!!!!!!!
PERFECTO...
I bet no one in this world would dare to take this program. He is the best!!!
However, his body was too tight in Olympic 2010. I felt it when he missed the hit of the first note. Well...He did OK there in the olympic and he really should win. Stupid 1.** pointsT.T He is the best.
I agree with Helsayx. I still love Plushenko more. e we I enjoy watching him skate with his little flairs, while Lysacek is only technically impressive.
He is interesting in that while he is a figure skater and is often grouped in a kind of . . . shall we say, effeminate sport, he still manages to keep a very masculine confidence as well as definite sex appeal.
My favourite EVER ❤️
Sorry number one Evgeni Plushenko 👍👏👏👏
Beautiful routine. Does anyone know what song this is?
My mistake. I though that it looked better than I remembered it to have been. Still, even this performance, as I noted, was
you are the bast
love u
he's charming!! >< ^^
To me he is the king of ice
Had Plushenko skated 100% clean, he'd have won last night, but, let's be clear; it was EASY for Evan to skate clean because he took absolutely no risks, as did Plushenko, and since the judges were grading GOE higher than the actual athleticism, i.e. jumps, etc., the edge was given to Evan, unjustifiably so.
@Helsayx Here in America, the camera purposely stayed above his waist during the hip move during his Olympic LP, like Elvis on "Ed Sullivan", so, I didn't even see it until I saw this clip. LOL
cwcowles, this is a strong, brave, courage performance! in skating not everything has to be nice, smooth and girly, who said that? not because Evan had a perfect smoothy performance it means he is more artist than Plushenko, oh please! all kind of expressions in the art are completely valid and authentic.
Or do you think for example an actor just have to be romantic? no, of course, the best actor has to be, needs to be everything, romantic, comic, drama, etc, etc, that's a good actor
MON AMOUR SANS FIN
I was hoping that Michelle Kwan could have done this. There is still hope though in that this Olympics might indicate that judges look at total composition not just on the jumping. It would persuade a lot of older skaters in their late 20's and 30's to stay amateur longer, something they greatly need, instead of going pro.
best best best #1
Dang that rink is too small for him!
Yeah baby.... at 3.40 onwards is where the good stuff is happening. Should have got a Gold!!!!
Right, wrong or indifferent, Plushenko is a magnificent skater with a very distinctive style. He lost the gold by only 1.31 points. I don't know whether it was fair or not: Evan skated pretty much flawlessly, but Plushenko took risks. Risk is very important to me because it entails challenge. Anyway, I don't feel I'm knowledgeable enough to decide who was better. I'm sure the athletes themselves can
decide that in their hearts.
None at all, from all I hear, though, since he remarried recently to Dima Bilan's producer Yana Rudkovskaya, they've all had to take a back seat to the #1 lady in his life.:)
he is back!
