Very elegant Orient. This just goes to show how much money goes into marketing/brand provenance amongst the big Swiss brands:Longines,Tag Heuer,Zenith. This model holds its own at an accessible price!
Good video!! These certainly can compare with mid tier Swiss brands ( eg. Candino, Certina, Mido, Hamilton, Zodiac, Revue Thommen, ) in terms of finish, movement quality: most importantly is value for the money. The mid tier swiss brand seem to be the same ( either coming with ETA or Sellita movements ) in guts but marketing themselves based on their history. This marketing is now crucial to the life or death of many lower tiered Swiss brands. Remember brands like Concord, Movado, Ebel,? Where do they stand now? Orient is set apart from such a crowded market of these lower to mid tier Swiss brands.
Love the review, I am exactly as you suggest a big grand seiko snowflake fan, and just ordered one of these for 347 usd for Christmas. Can’t wait! Such a nice finish, beautiful dial, applied markers, power indicator, even the bracelet is really nice. Such value!!!
Oriyent star,ın bu modelini çok ama çok beğendim bu modelin kadranında royal orient ve grnd seikonun bazı modellerinin kalitesini hissettim sizede tesekkur ederim bizleri saatler konusunda aydınlattığınız ićin
OStar watched are indeed spotless Japanese elegance. I just wish since Epson owns all the movement factories, in time, they will also improve the accuracy, to match swiss manufacturers like Sellitta or ETA.
Thanks for doing this review! It's the only real in depth review I've found on this watch. I think people are missing out not giving Orient Star any attention. I do have a question. All the store websites I've looked at list this as having 20mm lugs. Are you sure they are 22mm? That seems like an odd size for a watch just a little over 38mm. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the great video shots - it's really hit home the quality of the finishing. Only problem is 49mm L2L which will be too big for some people who go for 38mm for size reasons. I guess those amazing lugs need space to show off 😃. Orient have just released some 38mm Bambino's with 44mm L2L which I feel is a better proportion.
L2L is definitely not 49mm. Not sure where you get your info. Every website out there states it as 46.2mm which makes sense for a 38.5 watch case.@@wristwatchdave422
I've had the SARB in the past which was exquisite with classic good looks. This Orient is definitely more unique to look at and so well built but doesn't quite match the SARB for character.
It beats seiko SARB033 - 35 in all terms. The glass is AR coated and it looks almost as it doesn't have a glass at all. The dial is sunburst ( at least the white one ). The case finishing is way batter. The bracelet is better. Only the clasp is almost similar to the SARB. In real life it looks way better than in reviews. It is strange that it didn't make resonance among watch enthusiasts. It has a power reserve, which you get on other brands at a price point way above 1500 USD. The only thing that I was afraid of are the Roman numerals at 6 and 12. But they have grown on me and I really like them now. They are hight polished in contrast with the other markets and do look great.
I want one of these but cant find them in stock anywhere at a reasonable price. It's such a shame, I have an Orient kamasu and love it, so I wanted to try an Orient star, and this white dialled one has firmly stolen my attention.
I have this model and it's elegant and at the same time sporty. Very versatile watch. I just don't get it why Orient watches and Orient Star rarely have ant-magnetic properties in them. It's such a letdown that you really have to be conscious of your surroundings in avoiding magnetic fields.
Is it just me or are the VI applied markers to far to the right? Noticed it straight away haha. Lovely looking watch though, better value then what Seiko offers in it's presage line. Would prefer it without the display case back though, probably drop the thickness to 11mm.
I can see what you mean but it is perfectly central. It can look a bit off because it is not a symmetrical shape but if you drew a vertical line from the widest point on each side of the VI you would see it is applied correctly. Thanks for watching 👍
@@wristwatchdave422 thanks for the reply. After looking at it a little more and at pictures of it on some online stores they seem to have just gone with aligning the widest part of the top of the V which makes the lower part look a bit odd next to lume pip. They remind me of Casio Oceanus watches minus the titanium or quartz. Have a nice day sir
Nothing wrong with this watch. Me self don't like the roman number but I guess they added them to distinguish the watch from GS. The bracelet is way better than the one I got on my standard Orient line. This watch beats the Presage line in every corner. What does Orient Star line misses is an premium in house movement. Something with high beat. The F6XXX line is good but it's just like Seiko line with just a bit more complications.
Beautiful high grade orient star watch. I just ordered the haritage gothic orient star in white dial an blue indices. Waiting for it to arrive in the mail. It will be my everyday wear from now on. They only had the leather strap version. I really wanted the bracelet version. So i ordered a high quality stainless steel bracelet off of etsy for my star. Orient is so much better than seiko. 2 weeks ago i brought my first seiko. A seiko turtle. Well i will never buy another seiko. It was a nice watch... But... Nothing but bad luck with it. Wasted money. It was used an misalignment. Reminded myself why i dont like seiko. Id rather have a royal orient over a grand seiko.
@@laurentlefellic The heritage gothic will be delivered to my house tomorrow.. I will be adding a stainless steel bracelet to it. When it arrives. Im very excited for this star watch from orient. Do you still enjoy wearing yours ?
Thinking to buy it, but have in mind that nowdays you can buy even Chinese homages for about 120-150$ with similar quality as orient seiko citizen etc...

@@wristwatchdave422 Thanks i just wrote that because i think popular companies must sell their watches with more normal and cheapest prices.Thank you very much for the video Mr.
Have you owned both? I have this watch and it completely outshines my presage. It's not on GS level because of tiniest of surgical details (for instance the lume dots applied behind the hour markers at the edge of the dial, that are off centre by probably a 10th of a millimeter) and movement, but it feels way more in line with GS quality, detail and finish and 'handmade-ness' than any modern presage, that only focus on a quality dial.
