- As part of our tenth anniversary celebration Dr. James Cornelius and Dr. Sam Wheeler take you behind the scenes of Undying Words, the current exhibit in the Illinois Gallery. In this episode they take a look at various artifacts surrounding the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
Why show these 2 pin heads instead of the artifacts?
I assume they're looking at some interesting things. We get to inspect their nose hair through most of the video.
Dr. Cornelius is brilliant. So well fitted to his awesome role
Yeah I would like a tie like that. :D
How unfortunate he was summarily dismissed from his job. Springfield chalks up another loss out of stupidity. Lincoln's town not run very well top to bottom.
I saw 48 seconds of artifacts and 8 minutes of two guys in suits looking at artifacts.
TOO MUCH camera time on the faces of the the two men, not on the artifacts themselves.
Spend too much time on looking at & discussing the photo.. That was a big let down didn't show anything, but the bed & that was brief.
And the bed wasn't even the real bed Lincoln died in. It's a replica. The real bed he died in is in Chicago in a museum bought by a private bidder.
Looking for sue and Jacobs Williams that lives in jonestown
We only can see them looking at what we should be able to look at. Dumb
This reverence for glass display cases baffles me.
It's wonderful people can see these artifacts. They should.
I wanted to see the artifacts! WHY weren't they shown more???
So sorry to see Dr.Cornelius leave Spfld. and the ALM who greatly benefited by his presence. Would like to know the back story on that.
We sure know what THEY look like. crud
Has described the gloves hundreds, thousands of times, but still talks about the blood in the most respectful and reserved manner.
I met a Lincoln collector at a collectibles show who had a playbill from April 14, 1865 from My American Cousin signed by all four of the conspirators including Mary Surratt who were hanged. He said a relative of his was a guard at the prison and just before the prisoners were led out to the gallows he had each of them sign the Playbill. Now THAT is a fantastic piece of Lincoln memorabilia! He said he was taking the Playbill to Antique road so when it was in his area. I can't find any episode of that show with his item.
To all the people complaining about not seeing enough, if they showed you everything then you would never want to visit the exhibit in person.
Not everyone can visit the exhibition in person.
They want each of us to personally visit the locations so they can charge a fee to see the actual artifacts and exhibits.
Wow, they really didn't want to give anything away in this video. For the two artifacts actually shown jump to 3:45 and 5:17
I was fortunate to see a Lincoln exhibit at the California Women's Museum in Sacramento. Reading glasses, a 5 dollar bill, pen knife... and an early copy of the Gettysburg Address with typos and crossed out words. It was a lot more awesome than seeing these two fellas jabber on... and on... and on...
I thought I was gonna go out of mind with endless Minutiae! On and on and on I was pulling my hair out with one hand, as I only have one
ooo the Glincoln gloves...kid gleather..wonderful
Agree with other remarks. Too much talking, not enough focus on the relics themselves.
Outstanding insight gentleman .. thank you
Not a well done film as it focused on the faces of the two moderators. Viewers need to see what is being spoken about. Re-do and show artifacts.
Horrible filming! I'm not interested in seeing these two men discuss the items we hardly get to see... I want to see them! Poorly filmed.
Ms Keene is the actress from the play
It's interesting, I wonder if the Library loaned out the bed to the museum at the house lincoln died at, because they have glass around a bed in the house like it is the actual bed in videos i have seen more recent than this video.
I thought the bed was at the house too
I wonder what specific haplotype subset of R the dna if extracted is? There is variance within those tested in the Lincoln the Weaver line.
wheres ceaser dr
if they dont fit lets acquit! oops sorry wrong place
These Drs? are as interesting as watching paint dry...showed 2 artifacts.spent rest of the time looking at them talk
That bed is different though.
I thought the bed was still at Peterson house?
I thought so, too. The stained pillow was there when I was there in '81.
The real bed is in Chicago. The Peterson House has a replica.
Music too loud, can't hear information
Film actual artifacts while the two guys are talking please... Not interested in seeing all the video of them
Very frustrating! What is with the camera person that they couldn't take more time to view the exhibitions the curators are talking about???
Cool Lincoln tie.
Very interesting. Well done, thank you.
If it doesnt fit, you must acquit, It wasnt lincoln who got shot. In fact he's still living down in Bolivia
Don’t be an ass and make light of Lincoln’s assassination when there’s that current fool in the White House. Compare Lincoln’s resolve to hold the country together and Trump’s “I don’t care. Buy some Goya beans” attitude.
Y'all already posted this video yesterday.
7:22 WHO THE HECK ARE THEY? YA KNOW?!
lmao
Like these needs
I live in Springfield Illinois
That room where lincoln died, must have been huge. Look at all those people in there.
It is an artist rendition only finished in 1868 and not an actual photograph.
💜🙏
LIAR. Thats not the bef he died in
Its a replica. The real bed is in a Chicago museum.
Why did these people have to bad month Mr. Johnson.🖋
Never use Nets foot oil it destroy the threads
The items should be sold because then private collectors and members of the American public will have a chance to own them instead of them sitting in a vault at the library and held there forever and never put on display. I have seen this happen again and again. Rare items from a historical figure donated to a library or institution for the public to see and the items are permanently kept in boxes because "the library has a staff shortage right now and the collection is being held in a vault until funds become available to be able to catalog the collection first." You notice all the materials related to Lincoln in that vault. Only "verified researchers" are ever given access to it or someone working at the library makes the decision of exactly what will be placed on public display and that is usually less than 1% of the collection. Be happy when these institutions are forced to sell these items because then members of the public can buy them and see them and they are not permanently kept in a vault for " qualified researchers" only.
Show the gloves 😔 while they are talking
What a waste of my time..Yea lets make of vid of these to yo..yo talking..Duh
P[ease show acturally video .
not much in the way of exhibits, could be better.
Too much talking, and who ever happens to recording, its only focous on this two men rather then the actal obtects....
Blah, blah, blah, blah all talk and nothing to see.
The video was poorly done
