I enjoyed this immensely! Wonderfully done, as if I were listening to the real Mary Todd Lincoln.

I am imagining myself having tea with Mrs. Lincoln while she tells her story. I am a widow too. I understand the emptiness. I wish I could hop in a time machine and just listen and be a friend.

Love this. This portrayal of Mary is how I always pictured her. When someone suffers so much tragic loss has to breakdown somehow. I think Robert wanted her to get help and rest. I believe Mary might have had form of depression since the loss of her Mom..Shopping or, hoarding later is from loss....I enjoyed this, thank you!🇺🇸

Maybe Mr. Lincoln was following tradition. Molly was a traditional nickname for Mary, the same way that Peggy was (and still is) a nickname for Margaret.

Such a lovingly expressed (deeply researched) portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln [Miss Pamela has her blessing, I believe]. So ahead of her time!

Great actress...to be pedantic..born in Lexington, Kentucky and living there as a child, couldn't we expect a little Southern accent. She was an academic and spoke fluent French so maybe the drawl could have been extinguished somewhat.

I occasionally heard a southern drawl.
I vaguely recall reading that the accents/dialects were different before the civil war than what they were after reconstruction. Especially with wealthy people.

@@Nyx773 Very interesting, because when they try to replicate Lincoln's accent there never seems to be much of southern touch, he was dirt poor of course. Gone with the Wind, the movie, obviously flies in the face of this. PS I am not even American but can differentiate some different accents from the South, I have TN pretty much down pat.

History has treated Mrs Lincoln very badly.....There are three things we know 1. she suffered unbelievable tragedy 2. She was a supreme patriot. 3. She loved her husband, undoubtable the most famous president, deeply,. Guiding him through the most traumatic period.....As a first lady I rank her right up there. Grifters such as H Clinton at the bottom.

She did have a habit of excessive overspending and perhaps using her position to enrich herself.
I agree she had unimaginable tragedy.

@@LibertyStation92106 there is a theory that it was an author in the 1930s that promoted the excessive spending stuff and this has been blown out of all proportion. revisionist history has run with it....and is all she is known for

spoiler alert !!!!!! They dont interview the real Mary Lincoln at any time during this broadcast nor do they include any videos of other interviews she had done so its pretty much left to your imagination while their puppet told these stories.
