I really like this format. It would make a great series. Sharing background on cool amps and dialing in tones.

Thanks for the feedback! I can definitely do more like this. I'm also planning to launch a series called, "Why I love this...." and then guitar/amp/pedal/speaker, etc.

Probably the most detailed overview of both amps.

    Good talk!
Billy Howerdel is a mysterious person but has a great sound. He was the reason I bought a Les Paul in the early 2000s.

Damn that Naked sounds outrageously good.

Hello, thank you. Here in Belgium I found a new Naylor Duel 60 six years ago, it's like wishing a sweet spot between these two amps. Every knobs position is useful, it can be vintage, smooth or modern and it can reveal pedals which are no-starter on traditional amps. Anvil Naylor pickups are great with that. But with no powersoak option it's loud, it could kill myself with a bad move on the master, so at home I use it with a second master in the loop and a loadbox to slave the head to a matrix amp (post fx rack) and this is just perfect (V30 + Gold in Orange closed cab)

Nice demo! On the standard MI Dual 60 at least, the bite only works on the clean side.

Excellent video! Thanks for taking the time to share with us...Here's where I'm confused...Why wouldn't the user just slave the Naylor out to a more powerful Power Amp section?
I mean I get the idea (of taking it to Friedman for a hybridization) as a long-term solution, but wouldn't slaving the amp be a more feasible solution?

This is such a good video for someone who doesn't know anything about the Super Drive 60 or the Naked. I know they sound good, but had no idea what the difference was.
Just out of curiosity, do you have any experience with the Budda Superdrives? My understanding is Dave Friedman designed the pre-amp section of the Superdrive 30 mk 1 to go into a Vox style power section with EL84s and then Budda moved that same pre-amp to all of the other wattage versions such as the Superdrive 18 and Superdrive 80. I also know people say that the Budda stuff changed when Peavey bought Budda, but I don't know anything about that or if the mk 1 or mk 2 are actually very different.
I would be curious if the Budda Superdrives were in the same family.

Thanks for the comment! I have never owned nor played a Budda but my understanding is that they are similar to the Naylor but even darker and smoother.

13:30 A long time ago, demoing a Naylor, this is why it was never an amp for me. Was a Lp player and just couldn’t dial in enough top end to be happy with it. Was often tuned down a whole step as well back then.

Yep, you totally understand the use case for the Naked now! You ran into the same issue as Billy Howerdel.

So you think the naked is less compressed like a 2203 ? To me, the 2203 is kind of open sounding, which I like…..

Yes, to me the Naked feels less compressed. More like a stock higher voltage (500mv+) old metal panel Plexi.

Are you just using the mic on the camera? The overall sound is fine but it doesn’t pick up most of the changes you say are making a big difference.
