+blaster7 royal You can get good deadeye shots, it's just the good ones tend to be from a place that takes you out of the game for an extend period so you can get there. And he's the only offensive hero who has to do that, while also being the least mobile.
I love playing McCree even with these faults, it is just you have to play him just right or not at all.

Since he's supposed to be a cowboy "duelist" and his ultimate is supposed to replicate a "duel" of reflexes and speed, all they need to do is make his ultimate damage circle shrink double time against players who look directly at him. This way the concept of his fair dueling would make perfect sense and it would still be so easily counterable by hiding behind pretty much anything, but it would also feel useful and badass against those who dare duel you.

This would be too balanced for Overwatch. I think if you would tell this to Blizzard they wouldn't understand a single word.

Not to mention it should pierce shields (Reinhardt, Symmetra, ect.), McCree's ult is too easily blocked, the only way to avoid it should be to:
1. Get the hell away
or
2. Disrupt it

I find it funny that they did that and then the one thing he does well with, i.e his gun, they nerfed by making it tickle people at a moderate to longer range

Genji gets to keep every single ability plus a gaint fucking sword, mccree becomes a glowing stationary target and doesn't even get kills that often.
Aren't they nerfing Genji in the PTR too? My friend lives on Genji and now he's legitimately getting punished for learning his character.
Genji got 4 nerfs: Ult time decreased from 8 to 6 seconds, no more animation canceling combo, dash actually activates traps, and no more triple jumping with walls. Really none of this affects most people and the ult nerf was just making him not broken.
He could pop his ult and just wait out zenyatta..
People that learned how to animation cancel were effected. People that learned where you could get an advantage by triple jumping were effected. It's a sad time we live in where Blizzard will patch away certain tricks that'll separate stronger players from weaker players. Why don't we just remove all abilities and movement and have a true target practice game, since everything else are at some point going to get nerfed.

All they needed to nerf was the duration of Ganji's ultiamte. Thats it. Not a single person was annoyed about his mobility because it's what makes Genji, Genji.
And then they buffed Hazno way too much. The only "buff" he needed was the Hitbox revert. But no they buffed his arrow speed movement speed when charging an arrow and now his hit boxes are way too fucking big *AGAIN*. Go onto the PTR every game has at least one Hanzo on every team because hes so fucking broken right now.

He's in such a bad state now because he use to be crazy powerful. He got nurfed in the old Blizzard fashion. "Oh, so and so is OP? Now we will make them the worse..." It's how Blizzard handles character balance in all of their games. They have never been good at it.

Nope, it isn't even comparable to McCree back in the day.
He deserved his nerfs. Overpowered gun is not ok because he has an ultimate that makes almost nothing. And now his gun is balanced. wich makes him as a hero underpowered because his ultimate is STILL worse then his normal left klicks.
Juho Saarenpää his fan the hammer deserved the nerf because he was doing a better job at dropping tanks than reaper, but I do agree they could fix the damage drop off slightly.

As of August 2021, Blizzard now has a very different problem with McCree.
I just want a McCree ult that is usable without luck and being behind action. Something that isn't a press Q to commit suicide.
Exactly that, his ult is why I stopped playing him even tho he was my favorite and most played, I'd have my ult up heading into a team fight and I wouldn't use it cause its suicide, you know.. so the opposite of what a hero's ultimate should be..
he does have one your just bad at it it requires a little thing called teamwork and being good

Yeah the blizzard forums are the breeding grounds for oblivious casual gamers its very painful reading the comments.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure it's been said that McCree was designed with the idea of having a character using a revolver that feels amazing to use. So it's plausible that the revolver became the main focus of his design and his abilities suffered for it. Still doesn't excuse his abilities being so lackluster.
His kit isn't that bad tbh. Combat roll reloads your gun so there is plenty of utility with it also moving you a little bit, and that stun makes him one of the best duelists in the game. Fan the hammer is ass tho and high noon should really only be used as a free kill.

I play mccree a lot. I have about a 75% win rate with him in competitive (rank 57 or so) and I still find his kit to be super underwhelming...his gun is op as fuck if you have good aim, but that's it. bad aim? bad day

Now that you have to charge it back from 0% even if you hit nobody is just.... Sad. If only you could at least force an ultimate from the other team, but nope...

they honestly gotta stop touching mccree. the mccree players won't stop playing mccree cause his guns fucking awesome, but they keep trying to balance him anyways. not that he even needs to be balanced in the first place, he's in line with soldier, the other alternative to a high damage ranged character.
His ult still doesn't need any more nerfs. Its viability is way too fucking low as it is.
we need him to be played less so soldier/widow/hanzo can be viable.
+Kana Fukakami Hanzo is definitely gonna be viable in this upcoming patch. The use of widow isn't mccree's fault, because they added a damage drop-off that means a good widow wins on long range engagements. It's not that mccree is strong, it's that widow was nerfed a lot. Her pick rate is down because another character is just a straight up "better pick" than widow. Soldiers pick rate is actually higher than mccree, because his potential damage output and range is higher than mccree. Soldier also just has a better kit, with sprinting being basically a limited lucio speedbuff (he can't shoot while doing it, so that's why it's less effective than just a lucio) he has a pretty good self heal, and helix rockets take his ttk to about half on normal hp heroes.
Lets not forget Soldier's biotic field isn't just a self heal, it can also be used for allies as well.

I agree with every single statement in this video, I've spent fucking 4 days playing McCree straight just for his 'It's High Noon' achievement which is a pain in the ass to attempt to accomplish. I even boosted McCree from 4 hours to 36 HOURS!!!

i joined a competitive game, and almost everyone on my team left. the enemy team let me just grind up achievements, i got the floor is lava, Zen's pixel spray, and Mcree's high noon

last time I got a quadruple kill with mcree's ultimate...but that was just pure luck! Now every time I use his ultimate I either get no kills or just one kill!
Use your brain, why stand in front of em and use your ult, stand behind be sneaky and creative, and when I do this I always get quad or more
route 66, as they were about to enter the 2nd checkpoint, i went above them from behind, quad kill could of had 5 but their genji hid behind the payload just in time, its all about positioning.

McCree's Ult is very situational and requires proper timing and strategic planning. Most other characters Ults are easier to utilize. McCree is almost the "All or nothing" Ult while other characters can get a few kills every time they press Q.

Ive pulled of some team kill moments with his ult. its simple game logic, dont use it if there is a rhine with a shield or a dva, use it in area's where there are no corners to run around. And dont use it close range / with a pharah near by and sidestep as you do. Also helps to have a mei boost you up before you fire to dodge things :3 i love mecree

here's what I say, make it so the only way to avoid his ult is by taking cover inside or by killing him first, that means nothing can avoid it, no barriers, no zarya shields, nothing. he's already vulnerable when using his ult an charging, why make it so half the roster can deny his ult with sleep darts, ice walls, barriers, and worse?

So yeah, McCree's only got, like 4 options of heroes that Can't counter him.

then it's even worse, sure it charges fast with 200 health every 1.18 seconds meaning in less than 4 seconds roadhog can be taken down and the time only gets faster the more damaged the enemy team is. his ult is meant to be used to take down weaker enemies in a short amount of time while they're distracted by his teammates yet people normally go in solo and try to flank full health enemies or everyone just blocks it or hides. He either needs his old ult charge back, or give him the ability to ignore defense matrix, barriers, and bubble shields with his ultimate.

Or... You know, make his ult better. Its PTR iteration is about as bad as DVA's ult pre-buff. Practically a liability to even use it. All it's good for is zoning out the enemy team.

How about this: (WARNING: long read)
McCree gets the Mercy treatment. Replace the roll with a "high noon" ability that locks on to the first person that the crosshairs are on. It's like the ultimate, except it charges slower, can only hit one person at a time, and you actually have to keep your crosshairs focused on the target to get the skull icon to appear. If your crosshairs are off of the target, it just pauses your progress on that target. If the target goes behind a wall or out of your sight, the ability is rendered useless. Whether or not you use it, it automatically reloads the six shooter, just like the roll does. 25 second cool-down. This could be the Pharmacy counter we've been waiting for.
New ultimate: the ghost train. McCree calls down an electric net that tazes anyone 5m in front of him and knocks them over. Then, a train car drops behind him, bounces up over him, and rolls right through the netted victims, resulting in 300 damage each.
They already buffed his ult since this video was made, its alright now.

every hero favors the shooter except mccree, you play pharah and shoot a concussive blast at mei just as she ice blocks she will go flying... throw a flashbang at her just before she ice blocks and it does nothing

Mccree's Ult is better when you combo it with other ults Mei, Reinhardt, Zarya, Ana and whoever else all work.
also, you dont necessarily need to get kills for his ult to be good. Use it as a scare tactic. Ive won plenty of king of the hill games like that. Pop your ult, enemy team hides, overtime counter ticks down, by the time they come out, too late.
pandulce an ultimate shouldn't need another ult on top of it to get kills mcrees ultimate should definitely be changed some how I think it should shoot quicker after u click or just have better tracking
an ult combo should be the cherry on top, not the fucking ice cream.
U can use it on it's own you just need to get good timing and a good position I've had loads of times on maps like volskaya where my teams failing to push and I go round the back high noon and get at least three kills

Except they don't balance vs overall player win rate, as it would destroy the competitive scene, McCree has a very high pick and win rate in competitive, he's consistently picked above any of the other DPS actually. Many of the examples you used there, like shooting a railing are just player error. His left click is amazing and can 2 shot non tank heros at range. He's in really good shape.
That was what he was complaining about. Literally the only good thing about him is his left click, and everything else conflicts with it. It makes him feel like a walking left click because using any of his other abilities would probably just get you killed or do nothing at all.
The video was very clear that McCree's gun is the only reason he's awesome and the argument was that his whole kit is built for a different style of character, but that his gun is so fucking awesome that none of it matters when people can aim.
It also doesn't change that Blizzard seems to hate McCree. So I don't get why you posted what you posted.

I don't get why you commented. Hes right, mcree is pretty good in the competitive scene but has a kit that you barely use. His left click is the only useful ability he has and the rest are either only situationally useful or not useful at all. None of that matters though because his left click is so powerful it doesn't matter that the rest of his kit is garbage. He has a high skill cap because he is basically a sniper without a scope. He has a right click that you literally never use because it is more efficient to left click. He has a flashbang that you never use because you are too far away left clicking. He has an instant reload that is only used so that he can start left clicking again without having to wait for the reload animation. He has the weakest ult in the game except for maybe hanzo so you usually don't use it because it is more efficient to left click. This is the problem with mceee. It isn't that he is bad, its just that his kit is incredibly lopsided and most likely unfixable without a complete rework of his abilities.

As a Mccree main, 40+ hrs, I can safely say mccree needs some work to his ultimate.
1. No delay after I click God dammit
2. Increase roll distance
3. Decrease left click damage and increase right click, not by much just feels underwhelming
4. Ult goes down like others, maybe 1/4 per second so I can safely cancel
5. Lock on time buffed.
As a McCree main i agree with the most things. But not with the left / right click thing. It should be worth using leftclick alot more then right click because it requires more skill.

He's also getting nerfed so that he uses up the entire ult even if he cancels it or dies. Everyone can keep a percentage of their ult. But not McCree. Fuck that guy.
No, he's getting put onto the same ult depletion as everyone else. They're moving McCree from a drop to 50 (which allowed for easy canceling for area denial with the ult) to a .25 second drop AND changing every hero's ult meter to fall in .25 seconds instead of 1 second as well. No one will be keeping much ult charge if they die mid-use.
Honestly the idea that McCree is any way, shape or form the 'worst' offense is somewhat ludicrous, especially if we're looking at ults. Pharah's ult is basically a giant "Gank me now" button and Soldier's is just an aimbot that can't do anything being very good wouldn't already do. Reaper's is like Pharah's in leaving a user very open and Tracer's is one of the most underwhelming in the game, if somewhat practical to use. The only offense ult that's hands down better than Dead Eye is Genji's and that's getting nerfed. If McCree has fewer ult kills, it's because a lot of what his ult is used for is controlling space, making people move away rather than getting kills (rather than deciding to use it while a railing's between you and everyone you're trying to shoot).
In the competitive scene, Pharah and Soldier 76 have been essentially unused recently (though the Zeny nerf may help Pharah rise up) while McCree, Tracer, Genji and Reaper have popped up comparably often in recent matches. Notably, going by match type, McCree (with his current pre-PTR kit) is played more than any other offense hero on both offense and defense, losing out in absolute frequency largely due to the fact that King of the Hill is the most common map in recent data sets.
He kind of did address this with him saying how McCree's gun was OP. Hence why he is used in competitive Overwatch. I understand him saying McCree's Q is the worst because it has no immediate payoff like most of the hero's with damage coming out immediately like with Pharah or Reaper, despite the lack of movement from the hero. And while Tracer does have a similar delay, she has a near guarantee of at least 1 person if she can stick her bomb. I am in no way saying McCree isn't extremely strong, but his ultimate is the least fun to use and doesn't do much besides controlling space, and he is easily killed and has no escapes while Q-ing.
For your counterpoints on the other hero' s Q's. Pharah's and Genji's have some sort of payoff when you use them. Even if you are killed, some damage has come out. Soldier 76's Q is not as useful for better players but it makes it so you can't miss at all (even at 90% acc you are still missing shots) and there is no recoil or bullet spread on the gun so it is still useful for better players in that sense. Tracer's Q is very underwhelming, but at a very low cost to herself due to her consistently high mobility and that using her Q causes no additional risk than if she had emptied her pistols.
McCree is definitely strong but, his ult is terrible considering what danger he puts himself in for little to no payoff.

I agree with the fact his deley shouldn't happen buit if you're flanking and going for kills you're using his ult wrong. Use it as a zonign tool, to distract a push or force enemies into hiding, or towards your dps's. But flash and roll are also pretty balanced.

Actually mccree's ult charges the fastest in 6 offense heroes as he can pop heads from mid range and deal massive damage (140 per shot jeez), i can totally understand the ult energy drain nerf... And since he starts locking ppl and spend energy immediately after clicking ult, it requires more positioning and planning rather than genji or s76's ult which gives one second of "time for regret", or reaper/pharah's instant damage dealing ults. It's good to have a hero who does not simply press Q for ez kill/POTG, and it kinda balances out the OP revolver he had (and it is not as op today as it has been, we used to have 70 dmg fan-the-hammer shots remember?)
From my experience I've been able to 3-4 tap most heroes (bar tanks) from nearly any range. Most of the maps aren't long range anyway so he can easily 3 tap.

The way pros play compared to an average player are way too different things. Just because he's picked a lot in the pro scene, doesn't make him over powered.
Being picked a lot in the pro scene doesn't make you over powered, it means that only certain team comps are viable. If defense heroes were worth picking, or soldier got a buff (he's getting one, btw) mccree would have a much lower pick rate.
Also, if widowmaker got a buff, he wouldn't be the go-to headshot hero anymore.
Soldier buff turned out to be a nerf, the spray starts much sooner and hurts your overall accuracy, if you wait for crosshair to reset then youre not doing damage and starts a vicious circle that dumbs down your dps

okay but Mccree's ultimate is incredibly powerful, you can't just implement a move that will instantly kill any visible heroes without granting player fair warning and giving them time to escape. Like it probably has the lowest kill rating because it is designed to be counterable but also have extreme potential. can you imagine how OP his Ult would be without these implications. If he could be completely undetected, lock on quickly and ensure death of every skull, singl handed team kills would be garunteed every game.

Junk rats ult also loses full charge if you die while deploying it, even if the tire itself isn’t destroyed it dies anyway, but at least when you deploy the riptire successfully you can kill up to 6 guys.

Well... Here we are, in a timeline where damage falloff begins at 20 meters, basically preventing you from taking any highground or cover, because most of actual fights happen somewhere in-between 20-30 meters.

His fan the hammer used to do like 420 damage for one. Tanks weren't even in the meta because McCree would just Flash, fan, roll, (fan again). That's pretty much it. They updated his damage fall off distance recently so he's better at range.

I understand where you're coming from, and I know this sounds fucking stupid, but his ult is REALLY good at zoning people off than actually killing people despite it being a 1 shot kill. It functions way too well as a defensive ultimate than an offensive one.
That's the problem. He's an Offensive hero with an ult that just forces people to back off rather than being a genuine threat in a big fight like Soldier's ult. Sure, it suffers from similar problems like the shields, Defense Matrix, and such, but at least he has full reign of his abilities and can be synergized pretty well with other abilities like Zarya's Barriers, Lucio's Sound Barrier/Amp it up Speed Boost, or Ana's Nano Boost (my personal fav with the Zarya Barrier). McCree's ult just doesn't synergize well with anybody's ability except for Lucio's Amp it up Speed if you want to zone them out which is what it shouldn't be doing in the first place or Zarya's own ult which is honestly more useful with other ults like Rocket Barrage, DragonBlade, DragonStrike, or just having everybody just press the mouse button at the same time.
"zenyatta is a support so he shouldn't do damage" is the same as saying "mcree is an offense hero, his entire set up should be for offense."

McCree entire kit is cowboy based only. He goes around corners and you are best to ult from a high area or from near cover.
