This was a massive song in the UK back in the 90's. One of the rare 'pop' songs that had such beauty. Sure there were a few, but not many between the 'boy/ girl' bands and the emergence of modern R&B.
This band is absolutely amazing, every album by EBTG is sonically and lyrically different and very well crafted. I believe you would enjoy something from "The Language of Life", it's one of the greatest pop records out there. "Letting Love Go" and "Imagining America" are personal favourites, but you can't go wrong with any track.
When this started it didn't seem familiar, but the minute that "like the deserts miss the rain" chorus hit I just got hit with the nostalgia train. Apparently, it was the remix that got played on the radio in the mid-90s. I probably would've been around 10 at the time, but was definitely listening to the radio all the time back then and this is one of those songs they played a ton, stopped, and then I completely forgot about it... until now! Always liked this one, but it feels strange hearing it in the unfamiliar original version, but I liked this one too. Interested now to revisit the remix to see how different it was.
The 1995 remix keeps a lot of that effective miminalism but definitely accentuates the inherent danceability. This is how many people first heard the song. It’s actually the first time I had heard the original.

Yes the Todd Terry remix, only version I knew. Wondered what was going on, waiting for it to kick in listening to the original here.
The remix was awful
Paradise Lost covered this? huh. Everything But The Girl is great. Their first album is especially top notch.
