I feel like with fertile crescent you can delay that wheelbarrow cause your lumber camps are cheaper and you can just update camps to lower walk time for vils. Only few other vils will benefit from wheelbarrow until like 6-7 minutes so you still get em early but maybe click on wheelbarrow last when getting all the feudal upgrades and rally to stone quicker (you move your gold vils to stone quicker but keep one on gold to eventually get the wheelbarrow). I think you can get a sub 5 minute TC if you build your TC of stone that way and this allows you to go for mutiple TCs. Also with fertile crescent you can get your golden age way quicker which is neat.
I think its better to get early golden age over foodstuffs (FFS) right after fertile crescent then get FFS after 2nd tc has been placed. 10% extra resources gathered over approx 20 vils is worth +2 vils vs foodstuffs worth +0.5 vils (=+1.5 - 1). You should be at 7 buildings at 4:20 so will need to spend minimum of around 111 extra wood for 3 buildings for the golden age by around 5 min. Once you have 2tc up FFS is worth +2 vils (=2x1.5-1).
I think you might be right, I also made a comment that in some matchups 535 might be too late to start building your second TC without any military support. French knights, or English archers comes to mind. Skipping fresh food stuff, and possibly wheel barrow might make it safer if you are expecting early aggression
Actually even better to go for golden age before feudal. Dronggas has the wood for it at 4:06 in the video and with some reprioirtising in the macro (gold to wood) should get it done even before wheelbarrow..
My only question is what aggression are you likely to see at 5:35? French knights? English Archers? If yes, then maybe missing freshfood stuff until after getting the second TC down might be a little safer... Though that might be situational, I don't actually know the timings. I guess im just a little concerned that if you don't have it complete when the knights arrive its almost game ending. Just looked up a season 3 build order for French, their first knight arrived at the enemy base at 5 min flat. Not sure how much time you would save by skipping freshfood stuff, or even wheel barrow but situationally it might be safer against certain civs/certain other openings.
nice BO, however if you remember the time where pro players were spamming abbasid mirrors on lipany we had some people go down to the nitty gritty of the efficiency. it was definitly apparant that wheelbarrow doesnt do as much as you think and golden age does a lot. so probably a slightly different bo with early golden age instead might be even better. also interested in trying a BO where you go trade wing and drop 3 markets+ get trade tech on age up. 2 markets next to marketplace and 1 across the map. get those traders to spawn with food+ gold in them as soon as they come out, will also be good
Thanks for these videos. This will be the first season I(ll ever dabble in playing the abbasid. I started of with English and learned ottoman last season. This season is gonna be all about delhi and Abbasid
Awesome build order break down, will have to be giving it a try! I am an English main now but want to main something in new Season 4, maybe the Abbasid
Why not utilize the stragglers instead of spending the wood on a lumber camp? 1 villager goes to stragglers while all additional wood gatherers go for a lumber camp on the main treeline. That 1 villager should produce enough lumber to fund houses, eco buildings and house of wisdom. That extra lumber could be invested into a quicker TC, eco upgrades, or my personal favourite, to get a fast golden age for the flat eco bonus.
Personally I always go horses or spearmen to start either to harass or defend, but the rest is solid. If the plan is staying in feudal I would get some armor upgrades at the very least which means 2 or 3 vils on gold just after the 2nd tc is built. Cheers!
I'm definitely going to try this out, though I feel like the barracks has to come down way earlier against french, and I am trying to figure out how to answer a man at arms rush. I suppose you outunit them but they can take forever to kill
Thanks for coming back. Dinner time wasn’t the same without your soothing tone. Food just wasn’t tasting the same. I may never escape the reigns of bronze league, but I’ll always watch a new upload and toss it a 👍.
gonna try it! Just two questions: 1. Is there too much excess wood at the start? 2. I feel like this might struggle against HRE (my worst nightmare) , or any fast castle builds because by the time you push out they might already be close to a castle, of course scouting is key, but not sure how good this fares against other boom civs with strong mid game , gonna try it out like i said tho! Thx
1. I'd say no, you can immediatly use all of that wood for early military buildings, houses (to get the golden age) or build army. You'll need it. 2. I agree, it will always depend on match ups, the French were just an example. But on the bright side: FC with Abbasid got huge buffs, so going culture wing for second age will almost certainly be an option
Anybody try Abbasid with fertile crescent on water and just spam 56 wood docks? I feel like you could never lose water that way if you spam docks and research emplacements on em. You could even afford to go 1 dock per 3 boats realistically lol so that you can garrison everything
There's no point waiting for the golden age bonus to research techs in most cases, because most tech buildings aren't doing anything else, so there's no sacrifice in not getting the 15% faster research speeds. If it was 15% cheaper, then I would understand waiting.
I was sure I was subscribed yet but no, so I've fixed that immediately! Great content, I do think Abbassid will stay with Economic -> Cultural wing order, they are great with these news! Great content again, keep it up! :D

Wish we could see how this works on the ladder tbh... I usually get mauled by an early English push by 5th minute.
get an early tower or 2 (placed a little towards enemy not back in case of english archers)
