  • Part 2 of our journey between Germany and Italy by train.
A day train from Zagreb to Split in Croatia. We used the excellent information on the Man at Seat Sixty One website when we planned the trip. The tickets cost €32 Euro each (£27 GBP) The trip was scheduled to take six and a half hours but it ended up about 90 minutes late. When we got on the train at Zagreb the conductor tried to explain that we would have to alight in the mountains and use a bus service between station as there were track works further down the line (the message was lost in translation but we soon found out what she meant!). The bus took about 60 minutes and then we boarded another train for the final part of the journey to Split.

Jeste li vi to predvodili željeznički put tramvajem Zagreb Split takav put je otežan zbog terena. Morate predvoditi onda nešto za upotrebu wc i mogućnost vezivanja na sjedištima jer taj teren ima puno okuka.

I miss old trains In Europe, travel on modern trains is so uncomfortable. It’s often too hot and seats are hard.

If you wanna get faster from Zagreb to Split ,it's better to take a buss whole way to Split, driving motor road, it take only 4 hours and 30 min. This new Croatian trains have a lot delays sometimes up to 3-4 hours delays. Seat on the train are not build for 7-8 (10-12 with delay) hours trip. Old train wagons was better and had more comfort plus restaurant . But if you have good time and you no rushing then just take a train and enjoy the view ;)
