Poly 800 II with "Moog Slayer" filter, FM, and delay modifications

- Here's a video of the mods I performed on my Poly 800 II synthesizer!
Mods include:
The "Moog Slayer" mod, which are just knobs for cutoff and resonance
Filter mode switch, 12db/24db per octave
Filter FM, controllable from Osc1, Osc2, and Noise
Knobs for delay time and feedback adjustment
The synth was plugged straight into my interface and was recorded "dry" - any effect you're hearing (delay, chorus, etc) is what's built into the synth itself. The only thing I "added" was compression and limiting, as particularly the filter mod can get things screaming pretty loud.
Any distortion heard in the video is within the synth itself. The filter likes to overdrive itself when set to extreme resonance.
That's some wild mods. I have poly 800 II, knew of the Moog Slayer, but those FM mods take it to a whole other level.
They're worth doing - turns it into a whole different beast!
That's hecking neat-o
hoping to get in touch tomorrow finances willing. sounds great~
thanks
Nice demo, did adding the delay controls enable you to make the delay time slower than it was possible beforehand ? I don't think mine goes that slow !
Was there a guide for the delay and feedback mods? I have the circuitbenders kit but this sounds phenomenal.
IIRC there are a pair of trimpots on the board for the delay and feedback, you just replace those with actual pots.
@@SlyMan420 Well that makes it easy. Similar to the filter/cut off mod. Thanks
@@SlyMan420 I also would be interested if you could do a guide or schematic exactly where to solder and what potmeters and resistors did you use. Pls pls pls ( :
@@pecne I don't have the synth anymore, but if you google "Poly 800 Moog Slayer mod" and "Poly 800 FM mod" that'll probably get what you want.
@@SlyMan420 I did all the modifications, all works fine exept the delay mods... I replaced the trimpots on the board with 5k pots in the front panel, the feedback worked but when i replaced the time pot the entire delay effect shut down. I'm' stuck and I don't know what to do... Any idea ?
you wouldn't happen to be selling this bad boy would you? or do you do mods on poly 800's for other people? really awesome :)
Already sold, but I could be coerced into doing these mods again.
Waste of time for me sorry
