This music allows you to dance however you like and no one else cares about it. As it’s the a carefree attitude

@Night Owl / David Merion Owen...…...Mmm - although it's great to see these lovely tributes and for [younger] Northern Soul fans to maintain this unique and inspiring music 'scene', NS completely bypassed Birmingham back in the day.
In fact, 'Uptempo / Rare Soul' music [as it was known as before Dave Godin famously labeled it as 'Northern Soul'] was far more established and popular in 'Black Country' clubs such as 'Oldhill Plaza', 'The Summerhill' Kingswinford, 'Colley Gate Labour Club' etc.
Indeed, two of the most influential venues ever in the development of Northern Soul were the 'Catacombs' Wolverhampton and 'Chateaux Impney' in Droitwich [circa 1971-72]. These two highly respected venues were absolutely pivotal in the growth of NS yet are tragically overlooked by many 'Johnny-cum-lately' fans who only ever went to Wigan.
It was only in the late 70's [and with the unwanted mass popularity of Wigan Casino], that Northern Soul was finally embraced in Birmingham - when the Locarno Hurst Street started holding regular Sunday afternoon events and occasional 'All-dayers'.

Wish you'd Soul Source'd me about this event, gritty northerners I love it, I get a natural high when thinking of Lancashire Soul from my Wigan Casino night's. They're great, shows next generation how to unwind and really to be cool with it. Thank you .
