Thanks for the videos. I've learned alot through them. Also a PNW native. Most of the time i'm looking for bonsai but I'll keep an eye out for mushrooms next time I'm out in the mtns.

Tough Spring, had better hopes after the worst Fall ever. Temps have been too low. Worst part is the photo apps that show you "one year ago today." Pics of tons of mushrooms, last Spring was awesome. Checked one of my best spots on Sunday and found a lone Gemmata that bravely punched through. Warmer weather and rain on the way soon so I have my hopes up. Getting awfully late though.
Your knowledge of mushrooms always amazed me. I try and pronounce the species after you and never get it right. Thanks for the spring walk. Give Gunner a pat on the head for me.
Pretty mushrooms. I found Morels on the side of the road in Richmond BC. Near parked cars. So rare. Are they safe even eating. I'm a beginner so lots of questions about mushrooms. Love your videos.

Damn Aaron that was an excellent introduction very smooth. Finding some springtime Amanita in northern California and wondering if you eat those. All the descriptions are there to the eye and doing a sporprint. What would be your hesitation any look alike's? Thanks for your input. Keep up the great work
Amanita is a genus that people should use extreme caution with the coccora That grow down there in the spring are amazing, kind of a metallic orange color with large patches of universal veil remnant and a cup like volva. They all have a white spore print, But don't get it confused with the death cap! It also has the cup like volva, But is usually olive green to tanish white. Make sure you do your research! Thanks for the kind words.
@@mushroomwonderland1 Every year I lived in Santa Cruz, there would be a story in the paper about a family mis identifying a Coccora, with devastating consequences. I positively i.d.'d many, but didn't eat due to those stories. It wasn't until 2008 that I finally ate one (got it in the Demonstration Forest in Santa Cruz Mtns.)

January & February were the best when I lived in Sant Cruz. Fungus Federation Santa Cruz has a Fungus Fair annually, usually in February. Stuff still comes up in March, April & May, but things start to dry up by then. There are some great Fungus groups in the Bay Area. Some led by members of FFSC.
Michigan is well known for all of its Mycological Societies, It's a very fungaly rich area. Many many species have been described from that area. Maybe a simple Google search would reveal a club nearby you. If not, the internet is full of resources to help you get started forming a new club in your area.
@@mushroomwonderland1 thanks brother appreciate there text back and yes I live in very small town im going to try and start one we have many burch popilpores that are being g killed and destroyed for homes and I want to advocate for them since no one else is some take 25 years to mature and these rich ducks would rather have them as house decor then safe the species

Hang in there. The God of the Bible is the creator. He is active in the worlds and loves you. Sometimes these things happen to us, and if we take notice, we can see him at work. Jesus died for your sins, and he loves you more than you can imagine. It's not about tomorrow, its about eternity.
We get a smaller sub species of the Chanterelle, less than an inch tall, orange/yellow, delicious. Lots of Black trumpets in my neighborhood park. Found my first Lions Mane 2 years ago in a different public park. Lots of variety and a longer season than the central coast of CA (home.)
kinda wild for scientists to name a mushroom that turns into rocket fuel in your system "esculenta" ("edible"). i guess it's about dedication and cultural differences (not sure if you don't count it as an entoloma but shrimp of the woods is the one i want to find here on the east coast)
In Sweden and nordic countries we still eat them, you just need to dry it first then boil it or just boil it 2-3times changing water between each time and its a delicious mushroom, at least the genus of it that exist in Europe and also Russia I think. Murkelsås ( morelsauce) is a delicay in Sweden and Finland, the Fins love the mushroom.
@@rickybus8525 This is why it can be difficult to talk about mushrooms on the internet. You do not want to steer anyone wrong.
