The universe was definitely up to something that day.... there were two areas my dad and I wanted to go that day, and we just so happened to pick that area first.... we had a slow look at a few galleries, walked down AnFu Rd to take the metro to The Bund, but we saw those giant lego bricks across the road so we went over to have a look what was goin on and there Staffan was smiling waving at me haha, it was a hard no for baba at first, but we wanted to help so we went around my dad holding up the sign asking people if they wanted to be his best friend haha, got a few yes's but no to the adventure.....we got hungry, said goodbye and went to get pizza. While later turns out Staffan was having coffee a few joints down and spotted us again haha we were going to leave to meet the rest of the fam, but me instead they came over to us for an emergency meeting........ story goes from there. Staffan I can't thank you enough, you've made some lifelong memories for my dad and the entire fam ❤❤❤my mum wished she was the on the adventure hahahaaha also baba returns the first bump digitally👊

This chinese dad had 100 in his pocket when he went to Australia and had to spend 50 for the taxi ride. And now he's a doctor, he worked hard and built something from ground up
Amazing and would have taken so much hard work, some people think it's luck, he would say it was years of hard work just to become a doctor. That qualification is everything, same with any qualification in a world wide industry in demand. It's why I believe people shouldn't be afraid to move cities/countries!
Only works in a county where employers are either not afraid to hire somone without the official process or just have easier employment rules.
Otherwise, yeah, if it is only dependent on you, you can make it if you work hard.
I wish I get the chance in another country to work hard to achieve my dreams. To bad I am stuck here.

I went out to watch our Christmas Light Parade last night. And met three women from L.A. We watched the parade together. They were so amazed at our small little community. And me yelling out to our police officers and mayor by name. I love my little town and meeting new visitors from all over the world. But it would be nice to switch places sometimes. Your videos are probably going to be the closest I ever get to that which I am very grateful for.
omg, staffan. That's the place where I met my husband ten years ago. And the hotel that you were staying in yangshuo is actually owned by my ex-boss before I left the job for seeking discomfort together with my now husband. What a small world 😂😂

Why am I crying?! Thank you for giving him a chance to be just himself again for a while. I think when parents become parents that's all they are and that's all everyone sees them as. He looked so free!
I felt overwhelming emotions throughout this entire video. James embodies the true perseverance of Asians. Look at his incredible family, him beautiful wife and kids. Even grandma is still around. Just incredible!

I was yelling and crying at the same time watching this. Brought back wonderful memories of when my daughter and I went to China and on to Yangzhou- we did almost all the activities Stefan did - that spectacular show on the river is the most amazing part. We did the bamboo rafting but strongly recommend- if you’re going - to go on a big boat trip along the Li river from Guilin. The landscape you’ll pass by on this river is mesmerizing. Steffan is becoming the beloved frontman of this channel. Best ever channel(s) on UA-cam!

As a 60+ Australian working bin Wenzhou China atm this was a fabulous episode . The doctor made this episode so real and Fun. I would like to see some more women on your adventures.

I had never thought about visiting China. But this video of that place where you took 'Dad' to is unbelievable. I live in giant mountains of petrified sandstone. But those look so much bigger! And greener! So beautiful!
China is amazing, dont believe the fearmongering of western media, even in Korea the government and media always spins China as a hated place, people because their government is villainous. but in reality, people food culture places are amazing
China is the most diverse country in the world, so much to see. I have stayed there for a year and it was the best time of my life.

I think maybe because they said long time ago (in a comment, I forgot the video) that the videos on the main channel are mainly for stranger's adventures that don't know yes theory at all or has no one for them to tell what yes theory is about. Here, the son recognized the "Seek Discomfort and asked about yes theory. Just a thought.

I was in China in 2014 as a tourist, it is a beautiful country, especially this mountainous area, and local people were always very open and friendly. I’m 76 years young/old grandma from Montréal and love following all your adventures, keep up the good work, je vous aime💕

as Indonesian who often go to china for working trip. (i mean there are pickpocket everywhere), except their public toilet. China ( generally East Asia) is a really safe country. Meanwhile, there are always be so many tips and warning when we have working trips to Europe and USA. i can make an essay all unfortunate events with our asian coworkers in Europe and NYC. 4-5 people were unlucky while they visited some city in USA there were some riot, looting or mass shooting. what a horror.
extreme things happened in Europe mostly about extreme pickpocket, being robbed.
btw YangZhou surely be my wishlist now. i mostly visited industrial and finance city in China
This is what I got from this series as well and I'm so grateful for it. It made me change my mind from not wanting to go there to really wanting to go there. I definitely wanna take part in Chinese night time, it seems so wonderful to experience!
I stumbled across your channel when you first arrived in Shanghai. As a Canadian who lived & worked (including Shanghai), then later travelled solo, in China I discovered many stunning places to visit. Of course I returned to Yangshuo - it had developed far beyond what I thought possible. Most beautiful, natural place IMO is Jiuzhaigou. I met a young Chinese man there who took me under his wing to visit the national park. (I think I reminded him of grandparents) Just be prepared for altitude sickness. Longmen Grottoes are also a wonder, manmade, where another young traveller (not from China) joined me on a tour. China is so vast and wonderful that sharing it is a treat to share with someone else. I would love to return but do not see another solo trip happening now I am beyond retirement age.

I'm only at the part where he discussed being a doctor... as a nurse, I 100% agree with him. Being in the medical field is one of the best jobs... very busy, very fulfilling but also VERY MENTALLY TAXING. I've been through my ups and downs as a nurse but i still love doing the job. Looking forward to watching the rest of the video and how he is in the end and maybe how wife is in the end cause wow... she was a brick wall at first lol

This ended up being really touching. It's nice to see people just make friends regardless of all other circumstances. Can't say enough good things about James, he was game for all the little challenges that were thrown at him and really seemed to be having the time of his life. And big ups to Staffan for being a great host/guest and bringing another person on the adventure of a lifetime.
Only problem though, this title seems inaccurate. Should be "two best friends go to the most beautiful place in China." since I'm sure by the end of it, they were, in fact, best friends.

@@MsBhappyI guess moving to a new place, I don’t overthink it. If I try to figure out all the variables, it becomes overwhelming really fast. So I just have a want, or a dream, or something inviting me to a new place and I just go. Once there, I try to figure out the basics of daily life. SIM card, bank, a place to stay, a job… New friends usually start being formed in a new job, and then it’s just a matter of being open when there any gatherings or invitation to meet more people. Like anything after work. Even if it’s uncomfortable I just find it easier to start being part of things so there are more opportunities to meet new people. Anyways. I’m moving from Switzerland to Bangkok this January… so I’ll have to start everything once again a literal year after starting life in Switzerland. (No im far from rich 😅 you just need a little bit on the beginning until you get a local job if you’re not a digital nomad). No words of wisdom 😅 but just sharing what’s been like for me.
