    i literally just commented on your spark plug vid. man ihave the same hard shift and its so bad. thought the trans was bad and the truck wasnt worth putting another dollar into. this is a game changer

      Lol yeah main reason I had bought the truck with a good deal was because it had a bad trans supposedly an sat for 20 years an didn't run Either . which the videos are on the channel of me bringing it home you'll havw to check out!
      Long story short was told trans slipped bad in 2nd-3rd gear but what happened it ended up being 3 or so quarts low an after that it was good again besides the jerking an slaming that started . An come find out ecm was bad

    Hey man, my 93 s10 tahoe, 4.3 v6 does the same exact thing when shifting from 1st to 2nd. Every once in a while, when I start down the road early in the morning, the engine light comes on and...I don't know the best way to describe it, but it revs up really really high before kicking like a mule into 2nd. What I do is park it and unhook the battery for about 5 minutes and then hook it back up and it works fine. It only does it if I drive to my mother in laws the afternoon before which is about 80 ish miles extra on my regular commute. After I let the battery sit unhooked and head to work, I notice the hard shift isn't near as bad. I know this is a long ass post lol but I was wondering if you had any idea.

    • @KnuckleHeadGarage27
      @KnuckleHeadGarage27  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah probably same issues then as I had . However cause u drove 80 some miles the computer does a drive has every vehicle does after it's reset and it takes at least 50 miles to complete . so whenever you have driven that far it's done went and completed everything that it checks and that's usally when u start to see the issues happen and usually it will detect it and throw the light on giving the code for whatever it finds wrong.
      But if your not getting codes then not sure could be a bad shift solenoid

    When you asked or said you're not sure what that brown wire with the plug was. It's almost in a location where it would be for setting the ignition timing.
    My trucks and 93 and there's a brown wire tucked up underneath that wire bundle and when you set the ignition timing you unplug that wire first and then after setting the ignition timing where it's supposed to be you plug that wire back in so it can communicate with the computer. Then of course would have to be the other end of that wire very close by.
    Maybe the 94s are different?

    Any help you could offer in getting the new ECM back in place would be appreciated as I have spent hours trying to find the spot where it should sit. How hard do you have to push on the ECM to get seated. I should have felt the location before dropping it but I didn't and no matter where I try to position the ECM, it won't go. I thought I would just pull the glove box to be able to position the ECM, only to find that the glove box is molded to the rest of the dash. Thanks for any help.

      Okay there is two little black studs that are rubber on the end of that computer at least most of them for the S10 they have to pop into the little inserts up under the dash you should see it or you should feel it with your hand as you put the computer up in there you may have to lay down and look under the dash because that's the way I had to do it.

    affter trying 2 junkyard computers and getting no results what made you keep thinking it was the computer and not the trans? What exactly goes wrong in the computer that causes shifting problems?

    • @KnuckleHeadGarage27
      @KnuckleHeadGarage27  2 роки тому +1

      This actually had more issues than just trans shifting hard and codes for it . The coolant temperature sensor and 2 knock sensors kept throwing codes for them which after replacing them it still kepg throwing codes and the truck ran terribly.
      So after all of that and replaced the computer it was fixed and also fixed the transmission codes and issues

  • @RonaldHartman-p2w
    @RonaldHartman-p2w 10 місяців тому +1

    Thank you for the reply. After asking for your help, I was able to get the ECM back in place. I did finally feel the bracket and gain some understanding how it works. I did not feel any rubber tipped supports on my truck. One problem on my truck was an HVAC control cable was partially blocking the location and catching the ECM when trying to seat it. Another thing that may have been helpful was to remove the two 10 mm bolts on the bottom of the dash, one by the passenger side door and one over to the left about 18 inches to allow the dash to come slightly forward. I have removed these bolts to replace the heater core before and now I see that it is leaking again during this ECM drop and reinstall process. Thanks again.

      This one doesn't have a kickdown cable or TV cable for the transmission and I thought I had mentioned that . So this is what it does, takes about 3 reps of the motor spinning then it’ll fire over, then it’ll decline idle , then stop hood idle for about 3 seconds then it’ll dip down and up with idle like a surge. Then you put it in gear it still will do the surge you press on the gas a little and it’ll act like it’s gonna die then wake up and fry the tires off cause you gave it more pedal afraid it was gonna stall, if you give it the whole pedal it’ll pull of it. Seems like it lost power and you can feel just sitting in gear it’s not running right
