Although they easily forgive, still...if he were to ignore it, it would send a different message. It should not be belabored, but I think addressing it is probably a good thing. Let me say...I have went through severe behavioral challenges with my daughter and I understand the struggle. Sometimes the nonsense catches you off guard and you will find yourself saying things that are not a part of your character. I learned that there were times I had to disconnect with my child because the disrespect was just too much. Much prayer for this family

I treated my mom like this growing up, allowed my boyfriend to do it too, she rarely said much back, just prayed. One day she finally snapped, and she beat the brakes off me, still made my dad whoop me, then made me read my Bible at the table. I am grown with 2 teens now and she is my BEST FRIEND who has my absolute respect, heck I gave her some of my stimmy money too lol. I had an argument with my dad recently because he doesn’t listen and as an Adult I am frustrated. I got the courage to speak out on it and he didn’t get angry, he listened he apologized and our relationship has improved 10 fold. Idc how old his son is, the relationship is broken and as a father he missed the opportunity to fix it before things got to that point. As a father it’s still his responsibility because his son only got to that point because of the sins of his father so to speak. I absolutely feel like as a first born, that young man is still suffering from abandonment issues. That isht can haunt you your whole life. He was likely treated like a prince and loved beyond measure until Kirk married and had other children. If you listen to the call he states several times how things changed when he got to be a certain age. I think that was when his dad married and his siblings were born. That is so true and so to the point. I had that same issue with both my daughters but more with the youngest. They get to beva young adult and think they are your equal now that they have come of age . Kirk has nothing to be ashamed of. God is perfect we are not. @@Tess_Minded I agree with you. My father would never have spoken to us that way as kids or adults. Even if we were upset or irritated. I had an argument with my dad recently because he doesn’t listen and as an Adult I am frustrated. I got the courage to speak out on it and he didn’t get angry, he listened he apologized and our relationship has improved 10 fold. Idc how old his son is, the relationship is broken and as a father he missed the opportunity to fix it before things got to that point. As a father it’s still his responsibility because his son only got to that point because of the sins of his father so to speak. I absolutely feel like as a first born, that young man is still suffering from abandonment issues. That isht can haunt you your whole life. He was likely treated like a prince and loved beyond measure until Kirk married and had other children. If you listen to the call he states several times how things changed when he got to be a certain age. I think that was when his dad married and his siblings were born. I’m not saying that as a grown man he’s not accountable for his own actions, but they both will need to stop blaming each other and actually listen with discernment and an open heart and mind to resolve their issues.
