Having a disrespectful child is challenging, but the only way to win is to fight in God's way and strength and not your own. We have to treat them with fruits of the Spirit and not of the flesh and give it to God. That's the only way things will get better.

@@Tess_Minded I agree with you. My father would never have spoken to us that way as kids or adults. Even if we were upset or irritated. I had an argument with my dad recently because he doesn’t listen and as an Adult I am frustrated. I got the courage to speak out on it and he didn’t get angry, he listened he apologized and our relationship has improved 10 fold. Idc how old his son is, the relationship is broken and as a father he missed the opportunity to fix it before things got to that point. As a father it’s still his responsibility because his son only got to that point because of the sins of his father so to speak. I absolutely feel like as a first born, that young man is still suffering from abandonment issues. That isht can haunt you your whole life. He was likely treated like a prince and loved beyond measure until Kirk married and had other children. If you listen to the call he states several times how things changed when he got to be a certain age. I think that was when his dad married and his siblings were born. I’m not saying that as a grown man he’s not accountable for his own actions, but they both will need to stop blaming each other and actually listen with discernment and an open heart and mind to resolve their issues.

Although they easily forgive, still...if he were to ignore it, it would send a different message. It should not be belabored, but I think addressing it is probably a good thing. Let me say...I have went through severe behavioral challenges with my daughter and I understand the struggle. I just need to say God can use anybody in any situation to help his own. This incident with Kirk and his son gave me the clarity I need to move to another space in my mind from my own estranged relationship with my daughter. I saw myself in this man, this parent. Doing all he can to love this person, support this person, understand this person. Only to realize no matter what you do, it’s never gonna be enough for them. Sometimes, you have to pull up, let go and let God. You have to. Or the vitriol they have in their spirit will destroy all that pure love and joy you have for your child. I pray for Kirk and his son and the entire family. God can and He will heal them. But Kirk has to let go and trust God for this one. FRFR

My relationship with my father was bad. I am angry with him to this day for his cruelty and alcoholism. I would never go to social media and expose our disagreements to strangers. We are still blood and we love each other plus I respect him. I cannot imagine going through this publicly.

I am a mother of 5 boys and a strong believer in God. Yet, I understand how a parent can become unhinged with a disrespectful child because I been there. Quite frankly, I think Kirk showed more restraint then I could have in that heated argument. The son seem like he wanted his dad to result in violence. Where I come from a lot of dads would have gladly went to jail in terms of showing that child (grown or not) that disrespect of any kind will not be tolerated. But at the end of the day, the love for a child will never die. I do wish Kirk and his family the very best. I'm not mad at him. And he that goes without sin, cast the first stone.

When I was younger I disrespected my parents a lot. I was not happy with my life therefore I didn’t allow anyone around me to be happy. It wasn’t until I was successful in life and in a healthier physical, mental and emotional space that I realized that my behavior was disrespectful and have since apologized immensely to them. I know that might sound odd but back then I truly felt I was the one being being disrespected, I was wrong, the anger clouds your judgment.
He feels like he does so he does. To whome much is given, much is required. He's rich and successful bc of his fans so he knows the significance of being transparent to those who has been with him since the start. No leave this unaddressed is very tough!
