This is my home lake, and I love it for both smallmouth fishing and walleye fishing in the summer & fall. One of the best walleye fisheries around. Usually in the summer, I'm trolling for them with rapalas on leadcore line or in the fall, when they've moved up shallow a bit you can even catch em from shore or do a little wading. But if I'm not walleye fishing, I'm smalleye fishing on the shoals. I launch more often from the east end than the west end but the largemouth fishing on the west-end of the lake is actually pretty good too. But this lake is known for it's extremely temperamental conditions. It's exposed to the wind on all sides and it's a relatively shallow lake all things considered, even in the deepest holes. It's basically a big giant bowl. You can get out there in the morning on a calmer day and it'll be flat calm but if that wind picks up at all, you can go from flat calm to huge rollers slamming into the side of the boat in the snap of a finger. Even the conditions here in the video seem pretty typical/average and I've gotten caught out there in much worse, and a lot of boaters have gotten into trouble on this lake over the years. Oneida Lake is an amazing fishery, but it's a body of water that demands your respect out there. Always love it when the Pros show up on Oneida and lay the hammer into em.
