- Episode 187. A great way to celebrate 3000 subscribers! My brother-in-law Dave brought back this gift pack from London for me. Wow. Thanks Dave, and thanks to everyone who has tuned in over the years. Have you tried Clynelish? It is a complex, fruit forward dram for me. #whiskyfabric#whiskytube#whiskyneighbour

nice ! havent had the pleasure ! enjoy !!
Really an excellent dram!
Great review! Clynelish is one of my all-time favourites and I always have a bottle of it in my house. Thankfully it is readily available in my area - I paid 42 Euros for the last bottle, which is fantastic value in my book.
Congrats on 3000 Subscibers!
Awesome you can find it easily in your area. It is a challenge for me to get a hold of here, but a delightful dram! Thanks for dropping in and the congrats!
Félicitations/おめでとう/Congrats on 3,000 subscribers J!
Thank you!!
Congrats on 3000! Well deserved.
Thank you!!
Another one I have to order. I love all your reviews very educational
I'm glad I could help. The Clynelish was wonderful. Rich, and lots of layers to find.
Congrats on hitting 3000 subs! I look forward to every video you release. Keep them coming and thank you for all of the whisky notes and reviews!
Thank you for the encouragement. I certainly enjoy these moments too and hope my thoughts are helpful. Cheers!
Congratulations Jon! Thanks for another great review. I enjoyed Clynelish 14, and really loved the Compass Box Spice Tree
Thanks! This Clynelish is excellent and Spice Tree is always a treat. I don't think I have reviewed a bottle on the channel. I hope I can fix that soon. Take care.
Congrats. Really enjoy your reviews.
Thanks Greg! I sure enjoy sharing with everyone.
Congrats on 3000 subs Jon! I need to try this one!
Thanks. This is a really good dram I hope you can find it.
I got the exact same sampler pack from my local supermarket when it was on sale for 25% off. And it was what really cemented my love of scotch. Clynelish 14 was fruity, friendly and wonderful. Talisker 10 was smoky and delicious. Caol Ila 12 was a campfire in my mouth that I didn't appreciate at first, but since then I've really hit the peat train hard :)
Awesome! Certainly all great malts, and I liked the way they were packaged here too. Quailty!
Congratulations Jon. 🥂 here's to 3000 more.
Thanks! I'll drink to that!
Congratulations Jon on the 3K subs, keep up the good work, cheers Kev
Thanks! I hope I can keep finding time to talk whisky with everyone for a while to come, I really enjoy it. Take care.
Clynelish is just an incredible distillery. I love love the waxiness!!! This one is so good for how much it costs!
A little to hard to find , but excellent!!
Congratulations Jon! Very very nice whisky set, each bottle looks 200 ml. Such scope as your gives understanding what particular whisky is. Looks ahead for Caol ila
Thanks. Yes, they are each 200 ml which gives enough for a few pours. I really enjoy sample sets that allow a few different nights of enjoyment. Cheers!
Lovely stuff. Cheers.
And congrats on the 3K btw Jon. Well deserved.
Thank you so much! It is a privilege to have the time to sit and talk whisky online like this. Thanks for dropping in!
Excellent review Jon, not that I’ve had the pleasure of Clynelish 14, but in that you express what you are tasting and smelling at the moment and admit it! Totally honest review and I fully appreciate and look forward to these! Cheers!
Thanks Alan. This has been an excellent pour for me. Lots of layers to talk about. I hope you get the chance to try it one day.
Massive congratulations on the 3k subs - the only way is up! Interestingly, I'm just about to shoot my review of this too - and I'm in agreement with you. It's a great whisky and fantastic value too. Cheers and here's to more subs.
Thanks Al! I will be sure to catch your review too!
Congrats on 3k! Love your reviews, feels like you really let us in on your chill whisky journey on the deck. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Caol Ila 12!
Thanks, and I'm glad it feels like we're sharing a dram. That is all I want! Cheers!
FWIW, about a third to halfway into my fifth of Clynelish 14, it turned into one of the best whiskys I've had. Some air in the bottle transformed it from very good to amazing. Congrats on 3K!
I am certainly buying a full bottle of Clynelish when this disappears. I have clearly not had this long, but it is exceptional. Thanks for dropping in!
Congrats on 3000! New subscriber here. Ardbeg Uigeadail was the first video I saw, which I purchased shortly thereafter. Love it! I like your way of describing the whisky, making it easy-going yet educating for me as a whisky newbie. Cheers!
So awesome that you are on this journey. Love that Uigeadail, but it's a big bottle to live up to! Have you picked up some favourites along the way for Scotch?
Yes it's an exciting journey for sure, and it's nice to know that most of it is ahead of me. So far the sherry-derived flavors have been the best ones, both with and without peat.
some great whiskies on your table. congratulations on your 3,000th subscribers i have confidence that you will double that in the near future. stay safe neighbour
This was a great spread! Thanks for the good wishes and I hope I can continue to sip and enjoy whisky with you for a while to come yet. Take care!
Congratulations on your 3K subs. I enjoy a glass of Clynelish, and the Wildcat on its label.
I don't know the history of the cat, but it is a tasty dram!
Clynelish 14 is a good one.
I agree! It is a little hard to find here, but certainly a good dram!
Congratulations from Scotland. Here’s to another 3000. 🥃🥃🥃 Slainte
Thanks, and maybe one day I'll finally visit the distilleries in your great country!!
That would be awesome. Let me know if you ever do. Slainte 🥃
Congratulations on 3K! Appreciate the time and efforts you share with all of us passive viewers. No one will go wrong with a bottle of Clynelish 14 on their bar. I would appreciate a bit higher ABV (46%??) but just wonderful to sip! Cheers!
Thanks, and this is a great dram for me too. I have not had it before, but so much flavour and coats beautifully. Cheers indeed!
First of all, congratulations on the 3K😁. Clynelish is a whisky i have been wanting to try for a long time now. It is the the dominant whisky in the CB Spice Tree, which i love so much. If it is also in the JW Gold, that would also explain why i like that one so much as well👍
Thanks. I hope you get a chance to try it out. It is really good and worth hunting down IMO. Cheers!
Great review. Just opened a Clynelish for the first time tonight. Really impressive, not like anything I've tried before. I felt it was more citrus/orange and zest, than mango or tropical, but may just be what i'm getting today.
Glad you are enjoying it, and flavours are always aligned with our own tastes. Orange zest sounds great!
I love Clynelish 14 and Distiller's Edition! Too bad it's so hard to find here...
Saw some on shelf at 4 Mile Liquor Store in Langford a little while back. Might still be there!
@@TheWhiskyExplorer Ah! One of the places that I don't often frequent... Thanks!
I hop you can hunt it down. Great bottle!
👍
Thanks!
Cannot wait to find a bottle of this, Jon! It's on the website for the LCBO in Ontario, but no bottles yet. Congrats muchly on 3K! :)
It's really good and worth looking for. Thanks!
Thanks for the review Jon, I've got an unopened bottle of this in my stash will crack it open next chance I get now that I know it comes Whisky Neighbour recommended, did you find the waxy note to be very prominent? I found that note on a whisky before and really enjoyed think it was maybe Makers Mark. Just noticed you've reached 3k subs, well done, seems like only a short while ago that you reached 2k hope your channel continues to grow. Cheers.
The waxy note does come up strong for me. In a good way too, not off like in some heavily wine influenced bottles I've had. This is a rich dram and I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance!
Jon, can you get full bottles of Clynelish 14 and Caol Ila 12 out there? There isn't a bottle to be found of either here in Ontario.
Yes! Not everywhere, but if you hunt around. I just stumbled into a cache of Caol Ila 17 year bottles, but they want $153. A little rich for me. Clynelish was a surprise favourite in this box. Have you had it?
@@WhiskyNeighbour No, but I'm always looking for new ones to try and get rather frustrated when I see one excellent whisky after another in review videos and am unable to find it. I am not one for trusting the secondary whisky market because of the inevitable markup. Whenever caol Ila 12 does reappear in Ontario, I think I may just get myself half a dozen bottles.
@@davidbroughall3782 a favorite then!! I hope it comes back soon for you.
@@WhiskyNeighbour You could say that, yes.
Glenfiddich is not a highland malt. Not even close
Interesting. As I say in the video Highland or Speyside. It is in the Speyside region and could be considered either. What are your thoughts on the whisky? That is far more interesting then a debate about labels. Do you like or enjoy either?
@@WhiskyNeighbour the whisky is fantastic.
I grew up in the spey side region (lossiemouth to be exact) and the difference in terain is huge between the two destileries.
The term speyside is a little misleading and whisky like glendronach is considered highland when it's character is more of a speysider in nature, ie sherry cask.
The coastal nature of this whisky, IMO makes it a very different beast to any classic speyside whisky.
All the best and I did agree with much of your tasting notes
@@markmacknight9709 thank you for sharing more of your history and insight. One day I hope I can visit many of the regions and distilleries in Scotland and have a better insight into their history and character. Take care!
