- Scotland's Outer Outer Hebrides is over 200Km long from north to south. So is it possible to fly this distance? Loganair operate flight to and from the Outer Hebrides out of Stornoway Airport, Benbecula Airport & Barra Airport but the Outer Hebrides has one domestic flight internally within the islands. Benbecula to Stornoway, which is the only flight that connects the Outer Hebrides internally. so how good is the short flight from Benbecula Airport to Stornoway Airport. how good is loganair on this route and what will this route be like once Hebridean Air Services take over from loganair.
This is a comprehensive self funded Trip report & aviation flight review of Loganair on a Travel Vlog from Benbecula Airport to Stornoway Airport in Scotland.

What are your thoughts on Hebridean Air Services take over this route from Loganair?
It seems like an odd move, given the limited capacity of their aircraft. Will it operate out of Oban, as it does for some of the other islands?
Didn’t know this. I think people used this service to connect to Glasgow or Inverness
Just looked and Hebridean Air Service are wanting £101.70 for the same flight .
Some of the Stornoway-Benebecula flights used to continue to Barra. I flew that route for work once and it was an unforgettable experience. We flew at about 3,000 feet over the machair, with waves of the mighty Atlantic breaking on the beaches to our right and the mountains of the Uists on our left before landing on the world's only beach runway. I was seated near the front and watched the whole thing over the shoulder of the pilot - who, when we landed, had exactly the kind of smile on your face you would have if you did that for a living.
As someone who worked in the support I worked in the Cafe which is no longer open I remember serving you 😁, it's a class airport I'm glad you enjoyed it. Ps. I was the one walking arround with a big camera lens
Great video as always and no need to apologise about your camera cutting out. Quite a cool idea to take this flight and do an Outer Hebrides "domestic hop", never seen anyone do that before. Interesting times afoot for the islanders with Hebridean Air Services taking over. They must be sourcing a second aircraft to operate these flights as their Summer schedule has flights operating from both Stornoway and Oban on Fridays. Look forward to your next video, safe travels until then.
Yet another great video, Dom. Looks like a great way to island hop. Thanks Dom 😊
Thanks I’m glad you liked it.
Another great video sir! It seems extreme to drop capacity on the route so dramatically but I suppose there are lots of factors at play here.
Great vlog boss keep it it up 😊😊😊
Thank you so much 😁 Glad you enjoyed it.
Looked a nice place. The footage change was hardly noticeable as it was dark anyway. It all depends if Hebridean give away Tunnocks bars.
Didnt know this flight existed before.
I've since sorted out my cameras so that this will not happen again. It will be interesting to see what happens with the route.
Great video Dom from my old home to my current home.
Glad you enjoyed it. You are very lucky to live in such unique amazing places.
The Shetland's have internal island flights too and perhaps the Orkney's have some as well?
They do but they both make up the northern isles and are not part of the Outer Hebrides/Western isles. Will definitely be do some flights there soon.
Nice video but tut tut Noel Philips never has these camera issues! 🤣🤣 🤣
I know right! 😅 I suppose we will just have to watch his videos from now on 😂
Nice vid 👍 Some of your voice at Benbecula was a bit muffled, new mic ?
A super vid of a beautiful part of the world.
Thanks Tim, it really is an amazing place and one I will have to explore further
Benbecula, a lovely little airport. Been there a few times.
Would love to see more flights there, definitely one of the best airport in Scotland
Absolutely outstanding vid keep them up mate honestly your smashing the content
Thanks, will do! Thanks for the kind words, I’m always trying to improve my content.
250 km from north to south. Sounds like a perfect cycling tour for me.
I recently flew from Edinburgh to Bergen in Norway with loganair and l flew back with wideroe into Aberdeen airport it is a really good you should try it but can you please do more flights out of Dundee airport I love Dundee airport
Can’t find the video you mention in this video - when you hire the car? The last one I can see is the Singapore video. Anyway another inspirational trip! Must get to Scotland this year!
I've done it back-to-front due to the recent news of the route change. That video will be out very soon.
Ah right! Cheers Dom, looking forward to that one! @@WorldWide_Dom
My lad was your FO. Hope he gave you a smooth flight😊
That’s amazing! It was indeed Buttery smooth! 😁
May I point out that the island's name changed in the 1960's to The Western Isles. This was to make them seem less remote.
Don't apologise. It's all good.
Thanks, the issues with the cameras have since hopefully been sorted.
Hiya. Great video for a rarely seen route but please don't speed up the video for the bits you think boring. If we think it's boring we can speed it up. You might say we can slow it down but that would affect the quality. Otherwise fantastic. Keep doing it please!
thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, I will take that onboard and work it in if feasible. There will definitely be more videos like this coming soon 😁
Speaking of (Worldwide Dom)estic flights, what is the longest true domestic (no passport req) nonstop flight within the UK? Is it London-Sumburgh? London-Inverness? And please do a video!!!
Inverness - Gatwick is it. Shetland doesn't connect directly to London. There are flights from the south coast and Cornwall, but they don't land far enough north to beat INV-LGW
If Barbie owned a jet, I'm sure it would be a Barbiejet, AKA ERJ-145.
100%
Caladh Inn!
Yep. Was a really nice place to stay.
