@@butterflymoon6368 Most of the bishops I've known have been very personable. Even sometimes quite wise. And without exception, they have insisted on being called by their first name.
@@butterflymoon6368 Why do you assume I'm a man? Anyway, yes, different experiences and probably different bishops. But a sweeping statement like "all bishops are arrogant" requires only one counterexample to be proved wrong.
The casting of this sitcom was brilliant, all the actors (and actress - not forgetting Mrs. Doyle) were perfectly chosen for their respective roles. Jim Norton was also absolutely fantastic as Bishop Brennan.
The actor who plays Bishop Brennan narrated a beautiful programme shown on Irish TV(RTE) called "Lighthouses of Ireland". He even turned up in an episode of "Cheers".
Pure genuis comedy throwing shade and jovial amenities to the Catholic Church at a time when IRA and attitudes towards the Irish were in the gutter late 80s / 90s. It’s a shame RTE didn’t pick this up in which case it got sold to channel 4 but people went wild for it and enjoyed the Irish humour (even though there are so many underlying and small jokes only the Irish will understand) I think C4 UK gave fr ted the platform it deserved. Amazingly brilliant comedy and based on real life x
The writers were irreligious. I love Thomas Aquinas - taught that God is eternal existence, and on Earth manifested as WATER. I remember the scene where Fr Jack drinks water by mistake.
This would have cheered me up, but it is too painful to laugh, after a couple of days of coughing up my Covid infested lungs. I couldn't make it past Ted and Jack's tug of war. Father Ted is one of my all time favourites...I will return, healthier and stronger. 😀
Bishop Brennan, disguised as a doctor, also appeared in an episode of Maigret with Michael Gambon in the early 1990's. No one kicked him up the arse in that though.
What a great show this was. So sad that Dermot Morgan died so young. He was a comedy genius. R.I.P.
rip Frank Kelly also
@@fwef7445 Yes definitely, I was unaware that Frank Kelly had passed. What a terrific character he played. R.I.P.
@@skithewhitestuff They were all very talented. Very sad they have now passed.

What a show. The battle between Ted and Jack over the bottle is priceless.
This Len fellow seems like an unpleaseant chap. I sure hope no one has to kick him in the arse!
Or set rabbits on him
Or give him a bed with Jack sleeping in it
I'll get a camera to capture the moment.

Bishop Brennan was my favourite recurring character, and an obvious jab at Bishop Eamon Casey!
who???? All Catholic bishops are this arrogant.
Bishop Casey? Was he the one that had a "sabbatical" with a parishioner? And there was a kid as a result, wasn't there?

Thank you Graham Linehan, Father Ted is up there with the Comedy Greats.
You know, Dougal's got a point - that WAS the last place I'd expect to find them.

Is it wrong to allow my 7yr old son watch Father Ted? He does love it a lot.
Not really. I watched it as a kid & it didn't affect me in any way.
I think father ted is a perfect comedy for a young mind, it has great messaging that almost any age can pick up on.
Great taste 😂
No way I cuddle up to my daddy when it came to air every Sunday it was our I am very religious but it ok to have laugh sometimes god bless x
Absolutely manic: just the series for all ages, genders and religious persuasions!
Howya Len don't call me Len I'm a bishop 😅😅😅
The best Irish comedy show EVER
Bishop Len actually played an ombuds (magistrate) on Babylon 5. Best series ever!
I watched both series and never made the connection! I knew he looked familiar (on B5). Thank you.
He also played Albert Einstein in two episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation.
Jim Norton - great character actor.
He was also in an episode of the best American comedy sitcom "Cheers".
I miss this show. Comical genius
Ah hello Len. Makes me smile every time 😂😂😂😂😂
No one says "Len" like Doual McGuire
Don't call me 'Len' you little bollocks - I'm a bishop!

Can't wait to see Father Ted The Musical. How about taking the Neo-McCarthyite handbrake off the production and making it happen?
Yep!
That would be an ecumenical matter.
My favourite character.
As For This cabbage
I wish we got a scene where Len got into his car and it didn’t start due to Mrs Doyle filling it with petrol 😂😂😂
Len? *You address him by his proper title, you little bollocks!*
Oh right. Well done.
very very funny this episode
My favourite, I love farther Ted!
I prefer closer Ted.
Ted, did Len find the rabbits?
Did he call me Len again?! *You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!*
Loved this show back in the day
If your looking for the wipers 😂
Perfect!!!
A bishop without a pectoral cross. An oversight I think.
Sad broken individual 😊

I ask my dads sister in ireland if she liked father ted.She nearly bit my head off was very upset because shes proper Catholic.Felt awful asking her😦😕
Father Ted is brilliant. Graham Linehan is a genius. Where is the musical?
You'll have to ask Jimmy Mulville. Hat Trick couldn't buy Graham Linehan out of the show.

How long do we reckon it took Mrs Doyle to suck all the petrol back out of Len’s car?
