I got my Asus Rog Ally recently and yes it is just an incredible device ! But I also owned a Nintendo Switch and I tell ya …it is a wonderful console and its unique games are just incomparable. Very very different devices but definitely Nintendo still amazing despite of not being that powerful.

They both definitely have their strengths and unique characteristics. They are both very similar and very different devices at the same time ! 😄

You could also mention that if you mod your Switch you can get much more out of it (android, linux, overclocking) and that rog can basically emulate Switch games with minor hickups.

      I could but ...
      1. Never moded my switch and I think most people don't do it too
      2. For sure more people would emulate switch games on the Ally, which I wanted to try but never got around to doing it sooo ... Yeah, don't want to talk about something in the video I don't have experience with or knowledge about. 😄
(As far as I got to emulating was downloading Emudeck 😅, no idea where to get roms from etc.)

Thanks for your video, it takes a lot of work to put them together and you did a great job!
I own the original Nintendo Switch and have really enjoyed it over the years. One BIG advantage that it has over the ROG ALLY is the ability to connect four controllers to it for Mario Cart Racing and other such games. When getting together for family events it’s always cool to set it up and get everyone involved.
I just picked up a ROG Ally X and am still on the fence as to whether to keep it or not. I got a good price on it as it was a return and missing the charger and stand. The unit looks and works perfect. I like PC Gaming and have found the hand held version to be a little challenging due to the tiny menu’s and the need to do a lot of adjustments to get the games running their best … or running at all. I do like that I can play almost my full Steam and Epic library. Some games seem to have challenges with the hardware/software configuration.
I was considering updating to the Switch OLED but then I started looking at the games that I really enjoy playing, Doom, Doom Eternal, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Jedi series, Red Dear Redemption II, Borderlands, Tomb Raider, etc that I already own on Steam and Epic, and then looked at the cost of repurchasing them so that I can play them on the switch and I found that I quickly cost justified the difference between the two systems. That’s not taking into account the number of games that I have that have not been or cannot be ported to the switch. In addition to that, Epic has the weekly free game giveaway and I’ve gotten some really big titles for free that I can play on the Ally X (Guardians of the Galaxy). If they came to the Switch they would be pricy for sure.
While I too like to purchase the cartridges for the Switch, I’m not sure how valuable that is since all updates must be downloaded and the games often will not run without the updates.
I’ll take some more time and play around with the Ally X and then decide if I’m going to keep or return it, your video gave me some good input.

      Thank You very much !
This video did indeed take a bit of time to make.
I personally have a love/hate relationship with both.
On one hand the Switch is great, but the games aren't my favorite (they are good, just not exactly my prefered type.)
on another hand the Ally is great but.... there is a lot of little details that I dislike that come from it being basically a PC.

I have Switch old, I like to play other than Nintendo games, Assassin's creed Black Flack is the best, other ACs too. Company of Heroes is wonderful with Switch.

Acually lcd looks better to some. In real life I have noticed a black car is not so black you can't see detail but on an oled often they are too black and lose detail. I also know someone that gets a headache using oled screens and they hate them. The Rog Ally seems to have more accurate colors than oleds which usually have over saturated colors. I found the Rog Ally in vivid mode looks a lot like the Steam deck oled but I would never want to run vivid mode. I just don't like that my game gets shut down on the Ally because of a dead battery in about 45 minutes. You can run physical pc games on the Ally by just connecting a disk drive and installing the game. A no cd patch would stop the need for the disk.

I am picking up a Switch Lite until Ally 2 arrives. No point in buying an Ally so close to a refresh.

Well I didn't see any new info about Ally 2 but I would be surprised if it was just a smaller refresh 🤔
