The tip you put at the very end of the video where Luigi’s mentioned three would run better on Ryujinxand not yuzuwas super helpful and something that I didn’t think I would get from this video. I had already done hours of testing to find it out myself, but I think anyway that you can mention how to troubleshoot these games best like any good settings or good setups in general would be helpful
This is PERFECT for getting Switch emulation running on the Steam Deck! The fact that emulation works better on Steam OS than Windows is a huge win, and Pete's breakdown makes it so easy to follow. RyuJinx and Yuzu are solid choices, and I love that you can enhance the experience with Decky Loader plugins...like making the screen pop with Vibrant Deck! Honestly, once you've got your keys and firmware in place, this setup turns the Steam Deck into an even more powerful gaming beast. Anyone serious about emulation needs to try this out!
Having to do all that for each and every game is why im sticking with windows emulation is so much more simple and with playnite i can still have a steamos game mode look and feel
the games work. inserting the xbox360 joystick everything is perfect, with the native controls of the steam deck instead there is an input lag of almost 2 seconds after pressing the buttons. solutions?
I am trying to install the firmware on ryujinx but everytime i click the xci format game it says system update title was not found in the firmware package?
I installed the firmware in ryujinx I have the prod key and title keys. Bios checker is still red. I see the games directory in steam os and in the ryujinx list. The games launch in desktop mode fine but in gaming mode it says it cant find the prod keys. Not sure what I did wrong
Hmm I’d encourage you to try and get the latest keys you can and redo all the steps including installing the firmware from a game XCI file, let us know how ya get on! 👍
So I managed to get this all complete, game showing in ES, but, the BIOS is still red on emudeck, and when trying to start the game, I get the error message 'Couldn't find emulator Yuzu, has it been properly installed' although I set everything up with Ryujinx
Can you help me please? Im using old keys my game works perfect. I downloaded new games and keys dont work, i download new keys game works but old games dont work? Any idea what to do
Old games should work with new keys! Perhaps try keeping your old keys and new keys together in the same folder, and also try deleting the old keys and just having the new keys in the folder, and let us know how ya get on! 👍
Vibrant deck is not necessary on the steam deck anymore, as they've added a saturation slider in the display settings. Not sure about bazzite on the ally however.
Hey Cryp, haven’t tried yet, but as mentioned in this vid it UNREAL how much smoother Switch emulation is on SteamOS, and worth installing with Bazzite just for this (and true sleep/resume too!) - Bazzite setup guide coming SOON! 👀

I installed Ryujinx on my bazzite steam os on Rog AllyX but noticed in game mode the hotkeys don't work. I can't seem to go to full screen and then out of it (it works on Desktop mode tho). Even after mapping the keys manually in my steam controller layout. It makes it hard to set up controllers etc as we need to use a mouse to actually update the inputs etc. On the ROG AllyX without any touchpads dealing with Ryujinx UI which doesn't support gamepad mode is pretty tough. Have you found a good way to setup ryujinx and switch games to launch from Ally X SteamOS Game Mode for multiple controllers etc to play with friends easily? I would love a tutorial on that as it seems i need to run it with the UI top bar from ryujinx app directly rather than the game itself so i can configure controllers etc.
Ahh interesting problem! I haven't tried multiple controllers - if we set them up in Ryujinx in Linux, do they then still work when we play them in games in SteamOS? Can any viewers offer any tips too? 🤔
I tried yuzu under windows 11 on my x it works fine but i could see where this guide could be useful. I plan to get a steam deck oled for steamos and keep windows on my ally.
Good plan Joseph, although I’d highly encourage you instead to do what I did which is upgrade the Ally X’s SSD and install SteamOS on Ally X with Bazzite to dual boot with Windows for the best of both worlds - super easy guides for BOTH of these coming within the next week, stay tuned! 👀
Can someone just DM me where to download the switch bios files. I don’t have a switch. I’m following this video step by step…. But literally can’t find the bios files online?! Surely someone else is having this problem. I’ve had no issue downloading any other bios or roms
Quick question sorry - is there any need to install Yuzu if we’ve already installed Ryujinx??? Also it says on Emudeck that it’s been closed down. Any reason why you are still installing it :)? Thanks in advance!
Hey hurt by all means just stick with ryujinx.. it’s just that I’ve found quite a few games work better on yuzu so its trial and error to see which games work better on which emulator, hence having both is the ultimate switch setup 👍
@@PeteTalksTech Thanks mate! Yes about performance, I’ve just downloaded Mario odyssey and it was noticeably laggy during the first cut scene and when it first started. Played about in game for a couple of mins and it didn’t seem to bad. Do you have any recommended settings we can change to fix this? Or is this to be expected? It’s just noticeable, only on switch games the lag so any help would be great. Thanks again.
It does get smoother the more we play as it builds up the shaders, but also as mentioned many games are much smoother on yuzu, and a couple of games (like Luigi’s Mansion 3) are smoother on ryujinx 👍
If they run 60fps on Switch then they’ll run at that here too, plus we can get 60fps mods eg Luigi’s Mansion runs at 30fps on Switch but there’s a 60fps mod available online 🤩 Re. Achievements I don’t think Switch has achievements unless I’m mistaken? 🤷♂️
Yeah it's a shame it doesn't have achievements, very odd! I love how in setting up EmuDeck we can also setup Retro Achievements for stuff like snes games which is super cool!
@@PeteTalksTech yes it is, Nintendo should be disgusted ffs it’s 2024 every other platform has it, besides them, imo there staff and audience needs to grow up from a perspective of looking at the advancement and competitiveness of the gaming world.
i found sudachi but WHY is my game are laggy like they are fine at some moments and then fps drop at 20 fps or 30 for 2 3 esconds its horrible please help
Yes if we install Yuzu, then we can select either this or the default Ryujinx as I show at the end of this vid in the Alternative Emulators section within EmuDeck settings… 👍
I’d prob suggest delete the old yuzu version and install the newer version to avoid potential conflicts - remember that yuzu is no longer being updated too 👍
Thanks so much, it took a week to make this vid as I was figuring stuff out myself - for example I couldn't figure out for hours why Yuzu games didn't appear in SteamOS, which of course is why we need to toggle the Yuzu emulator itself to on in Steam ROM manager.... I try to make every single tutorial as easy and accessible to everyone as possible so your encouragement means a lot! 🙌
I’ve intentionally left ambiguous the more sensitive areas (like bios, as all other UA-camrs do) and clearly state the the vid to only play the switch games we own 👍
When we install EmuDeck, this Emulation where we place our roms and files is then created and we choose where this is - on c drive or on sd card d drive - in the EmuDeck setup process 👍

Sudachi seems the best on Steam Deck. Pretty much all games run at 60fps with hardly any performance issues (Due to Shader Compilation)
Hey, any idea how to setup sudachi on steam deck?
Having to do all that for each and every game is why im sticking with windows emulation is so much more simple and with playnite i can still have a steamos game mode look and feel

very helpful. all worked great except the games aren't showing in the ryujinx application on desktop mode so I can't update anything? Any help?
Thanks Joe! Games should automatically populate in the desktop ryujinx, perhaps make sure the path is to your folder containing all your switch games?
what sucks is that the only emulator that is left is Yuzu. Ryujinx got deleted by Nintendo themselves
yuzu did too
On Discover it is still downloadable but then I can't add the games to steam via emudeck's Rom manager

We can get these from dumping them from out Switch or they may also be online…
Any ideas for using the flat pack installer to add these games to steamrom manager? The emulator got pulled down and longer installs with EmuDeck.
What happens now that Ryujinx is gone

Why didn't you do this on the steam deck
i did everything right but my game won't appear in ryujinx. does it matter if the file type is nsp
Ryujinx supports nsp and xci so it should appear, so I’m guessing it may be a corrupted file perhaps?
Can i transfer my switch games data on it ?
