  • In this video, I provided propagation and care tips as I show you how I successfully grow a Dracaena Marginata from a cutting. I was amazed by the roots that had developed by the 2 month update.

Wow! I think back to when a friend gave me a little 4" pot of Dracaena, which proceeded to grow to over 5" tall. I ended up giving it away to another friend because I didn't have space for it to grow any taller. Now, I want another one. Great informative video. Thanks a lot, Peggy.

It's fun to watch them grow. In the future, if it grows too tall, you can always cut it back down to a reasonable size and let it start over. Thanks for watching!

This gives me hope (and I need to be patient). I have three of these, one each in a six inch pot). Can't wait to see what they do!

I did not know how easy it was to propagate a dracaena. Thanks for sharing this Peggy! Now I want one! Lol

I was shocked at how easy they are to propagate when I did it the first time. Now I always seem to have a Dracaena propagating. Why buy more when you can just cut it and put it in soil? Thanks for watching!

I literally just took cuttings from my Dracaena Marginata this past weekend. I didn't know the cuttings could go straight into soil (I put mine in water). I also wasn't sure if the remaining stems would produce new ones. Thanks for the informative video!

@UCHNGwj2H8YTH-EMQ13XSVbg If your plant is losing leaves but you still have new growth happening, you may be able to save it. Mine was losing leaves rapidly because I over-watered it. It was dying a miserable death. I took cuttings the same way Peggy did in the video but I put mine in water (so far, they are doing okay). I took the remaining stems out of soil, cut off the rotted roots and planted them in fresh, better draining soil. I'm going to give it very light watering and see if new stems grow from them. If not, I still have the cuttings. I hope this helps and I hope you can save your plant.

This plant really is one of the easiest and decently priced plants next to a pothos for me lol.

If you still have live roots, it still has a chance. If there are good roots, cut the stem low (or down to where you find signs of life) and care for it as you would the plant. Make sure it has bright light. If you weather permits, I would put it outdoors. Good luck!
