Well that’s because UA-cam became too greedy. Look it’s a balance. You have to use UA-cam as an advertisement platform. Make infomercials to direct people to your website where they can watch the longer form videos etc.

That's essentially the service that UA-cam provide, and you DON'T want to handle that on your own, as that would practically require a business plan to compete with UA-cam. However, don't just rely on revenue from UA-cam, if you aim to become a millionaire or whatever. That's where selling products become necessary.
UA-cam cut a lot of people out of monetisation and will continue to frustrate creators. Hosting isn’t a big deal as you have flexible and scalable hosting right now with video streaming included. Most people still have to PROMOTE their videos using ads and do not get free traffic. There is no revenue from UA-cam anyhow and they do clamp down on people selling products too.
