Unfortunately 2 years later the next time I saw her and talked to her she was in a hospice in an intubated state and transitioning and she passed away 2 days later of cancer. All that time she had been battling cancer and no one knew. Now I am left to grieve and I feel so horrible that I mentally cannot get out of this rut. If only I had been there for her when she reached out to me and I never responded to her message. Whew... My life has been nothing but a struggle ever since. I find myself some days in really really deep depression.

I don't know what else he should have done or said in this moment, his main responsibility was to make no further comments about her appearance which I don't think he did. I don't recall him making jokes about anyone's weight in future seasons either but I could definitely be wrong. Anyway I wouldn't have particularly cared to hear Simon speak more, this moment is about Mandisa extending grace to someone who didn't ask for it or deserve it.
