  • The florescent lighting is so bad in the breakroom of the hospital where Rafe works that I decided to turn them off for this video. I'm just using the light from the camera and the light coming in from the hallway.
Check out Ellen's wonderful knitting/beading store! Best customer service around!

And "Web's", America's Yarn Store, but I like to think of them as my "local" (3 hrs away) knitting/spinning/weaving store!

Since I started finally feeling better and finally went back to work last Friday (after nearly 2 weeks off for medical leave) we have been working frantically on the house. Our latest goal is to be in and celebrating Christmas there! I won't say that we will be finished, not by a long shot! But I can live with painting, etc. while living there once we move!

I'm so glad you are feeling better. And your house is almost done enough to live in? Wow. That's a dream come true, eh? I'm so excited for you both. Congratulations. I'm off to look for part II. PS, I'm knitting a scarf (k2p2repeat to total 24 stitches. I like them because in cold weather you can stretch it out to breath through. Gary has asthma and I want him to be warm at the Grand Canyon next week. I made him a hat too with a DEEP 'cuff' to fold up over his ears.

I always tell new knitters to start with any book by Elizabeth Zimmerman. Knitting Without Tears is my favorite. You should be able to get them at your local library through inter-library loan. Knitting and crochet have their own "language" for patterns. The good news is they are simple languages and once you learn them and what symbols people use to represent the stitches on patterns, you have it down! Start small and practice with a simple pattern, when you feel comfortable start a sweater!

Sorry to not reply sooner! That was a pattern I just made up and I tell you how I did it in the vid. I decided how long I wanted it and cast on that many stitches on circular needs, NOT joining the end. the knit three row of knit, three rows of purl and kept alternating until it was the width I liked and ended with 3 rows of knit. Basically you are knitting in lengthwise, not from one end to the other. Comprende' ? :-) Makes a nice stretchy scarf.
