Hi Andy nice to see that you seems to have found the problem, will be interesting to see if you get the same problem with your other filters, thanks for sharing your findings
I agree with the comments about it being the coma corrector, removing mine seems to have cured the problem which just leaves the clean up in PI with blur exterminator.
Very timely upload! I am literally right now breaking my head around the very same issue. I definitely can attribute this to Dual NB filters but unfortunately also seeing this issue with the camera built in UV/IR Cut, I have two newts, 6" and 10" and only one exhibits same issue as you are seeing it - 10", it is worst as I can't even use it "naked" without getting dreaded rings (in my case there are more of a circular band as opposed to the ring). I am going to test it again without coma corrector as I have a feeling this may be down to the poor quality of Anti Reflection coatings on the CC I use (SkyWatcher x0.86 for their Quattros, I have GSO TS branded one).
Nice Orion image Andy something I should mention though, don't all Altair cameras come supplied with a built in it cut filter? Good to see you fixed the ring of doom though who would have thought that certain filter would cause it.
You should try to calibrate the NB data using the UVIR-cut flats. I know it sounds crazy but your flat light may produce a different vignetting then the sky does. I helps me sometimes.
I think this is a reflection from your filter back on to the CC that then then reflects back to the sensor. you could try fitting the filter on the other end of you CC if it is threaded. Probably in the flats since it is a continuous ring as if from an even light source.
This is what I have found as well. I have been getting the rings with both L-pro and L-extreme filters on both lights and flats but removing the coma corrector seems to have sorted it. Blur exterminator in PI does the rest to remove the coma.
As a recent 130PDS owner, you had me worried for a bit there. I am lucky though to live in a bortle 4 zone, so I don't own a filter. I see that, like me, having 3D printed a spider, you also have extra diffraction spikes! I kinda like them, but decided to try to rectify it anyway. I remixed the spider .stl and turned the veins 45° so they sit as the originals. I still have an extra spike! Have you looked into this at all Andy? A video drops later today showing my images.
Thanks Andy.

Hi Tich, yes you are correct. I'm a bit belt and braces with these things! Hope you are well. Best wishes.

Worth a try

which dual band filter are you using?
