- Sung by the 100th Battalion, 442d Infantry in 2004 during a US Naturalization Ceremony for 130 soldiers. 120 of the soldiers were from American Samoa. The 100-442 INF has 2 companies based in American Samoa.
I’m not remotely islander, I’m from Ireland and born US, and something about this speaks to me spiritually. Bless you brothers
It speaks to you spiritualy because it's a song about our lord an saviour Jesus Christ who gave his life on the cross for our sins
Ua soona olioli nei lou loto ia iesu
My heart is rejoice in Jesu
Me too
You probably have a little bit of islander somewhere down your lineage
The Gospel hymns and messages translated into the native tounge gets the message across powerfully and better understanding and responses. In my country Papua New Guine where there is close to 1000 tribes and more than 800 different languages and English is the 2nd language translation is handy. A mountain of a job but is happening. 👍👊👏💟
I'm from the Island Nation of Palau in the North Pacific. We Islanders are talented and gifted in all sorts,..."But when it comes to choir singing and hymns, South Pacific Islanders are the best"! TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
Amen brother !

By God's Providence
an immense space grows
for the most beautiful that exists

I'm not Samoan, American or even a Christian/religious but this brings joy to my heart. I've been lucky enough to have lots of Polynesian people in my life here in Australia and their warmth, generosity and loyalty has made me a better man for it.
Love to all my Polynesian brothers and sisters from Australia! We are all one Pacific Family 💪🌏♥️

I myself am not Samoan, but I am half Tongan, the other side being Romanian. I love hearing Polynesians sing their hymns, their voices are so beautiful.

Storm Eagle Tongan and Romanian? Wow that's a first for me.
The James Anderson I'm told m a weird mix, it's great though. Two very different cultures under one roof.
Storm Eagle Very different. Literally worlds apart. 👍
Whoaaa what a cool mix !!!
Not surprised from a Fijian bro. All south sea islanders have the most beautiful harmony when singing hymns. It's taught from sunday school when kids.
The song acknowledges Christ is my joy because He loves me, He saved me and my heart is therefore with with Him, my Saviour and Redeemer. Glory to God. Thank you for the selection. This may be six years on, but the power of this hymn is so full of truth and liberating it is one of the most treasured of Samoan hymns. Most treasured when you are away from home and about to embark on a journey, you sing in faith and respect knowing that you are under His wing. No matter what happens the truth remains, you are HIS.
Amene ma Amene Your Excellency Hinauri Petana. The rhythms also brings joy and memories of loved ones in our trials and tribulations at home. To God be the Glory! Alofa tele atu.
Amen
Beautiful, thank you.

Gegard - there has been no such place as Western Samoa since 1997 anyway. It’s now called the Independent State of Samoa, or Independent Samoa, or just Samoa for short. Besides, there are many Am. Samoan soldiers who are from Independent Samoa or whose parents are from Independent Samoa. After all, all Am. Samoans have ties to independent Samoa, since we share the same history, culture and origins.
@@theephraimite and thats y i hate to use dat American Samoan flag bcuz it represents American colonies!!!!🇼🇸 🇼🇸 🇼🇸
Gegard - Actually, I do support Trump, and I am not ashamed of it. So no reason for me to distance myself from him. If it weren’t for America, the Pacific islands, including Samoa, would have been conquered by Japan during WWII. Americans were stationed on both Tutuila and Upolu. Stop being ignorant. By the way, I was born in America, but grew up in Tutuila, where my mom is from, but my dad is from Upolu. So a part if my life was spent in Upolu too.

I just translated as best I could word for word and line for line, the song is from a Samoan church Hymnal which was of course translated from an old English church hymnal called there is sunshine in my soul, and I do not hold any copywright to it, but just go ahead and copy and paste if you want, I'm sure whoever wrote the song is long gone and they won't notice lol. Revisiting here. I’m not a member of this Samoan denomination but, as an LDS (Mormon) I grew up singing this and other EFKS hymns in school every morning to start the day. Folks of the EFKS church, don’t lose your real Samoan style of singing praises to God. I love my church’s hymns too, but yours is a true Samoan style.
Tuesday - March 16, 2021.
Our old Samoan LDS hymnal from over 30 years ago has this tune 105 (Ua silisili Falesā)…we sang it as an upbeat hymn about learning while at church. But I love this LMS version for the softer and clam mood and the men’s voices ❤️❤️❤️❤️
L.M.S which is where the E.F.K.S church derives from was the first Christian denomination started in Sāmoa. It is I belive 113 years old now, 192 years since the arrival of the Gospel (Talalelei).
Every Samoan would know E.F.K.S hymns because at one point all our family and ancestors were part of the Traditional Samoan church.
Many pentecostal churches (S.A.O.G) still sing these hymns.
@@isaialeuila9327 I learned the lms hymns in school, not at home or anywhere. And yes, I do know the history of lms/efks, partly because my dad was lms before he married and had kids, and my mom’s side were always catholics, nothing else. So, the only reason I know the hymns, like I said, was because of school. It’s good to hear pentecostal churches still sing those hymns.

This This is what makes America great. If we do not value and promote this, Islanders desiring to join the US and willing to wear the uniform and protect the nation, but with an adding and promotion or this beautiful culture. If we do not share this, shout this, pridefully present this. . . we are lost.
Thank you, agreed. Except it's not about "protection", it's greed now. Samoans have so much wisdom we desperately need. If they desire citizenship, it should be granted without exception. Just be aware that the Samoan values are vastly superior to the values of most USians.
