  • When it comes to the Eucharist, knowledge and information can only take you so far. But as human beings, we find more fulfillment in life through love and communion. That is what the Eucharist fulfills.
In the latest episode of Drawing Flame, Matt and Shane sit down with Kris Frank about the Eucharistic Revival and what it means to love and be devoted to the Eucharist. When it comes to understanding the Eucharist and implementing it into our daily lives- catechetics and theology provide us with the foundation we need in understanding and strengthening our faith, but we need to willingly seek out loving and having a relationship with Christ through the Sacrament.

Knowing and loving Jesus takes time, effort, and humility. We can’t love Him if we don’t know Him and if we know Him we can’t help but love Him ❤

This is an amazing explanation of what the Church is desperately in need of today.

Bravo for the comment regarding saints among us and how we need to appreciate them and possibly be influenced by their actions. If I may make a suggestion, soften the "my money" with you want to share your blessings from God with your spouse.

I've been reflecting lately on the "necessity" of the crucifixion. There's much that I could write here, but I'd like to share just a quick bit of what I've thought.
I've heard theologians speculate (as they all do) that the cross wasn't necessary - that God could have simply declared us saved. So, on one hand, we can reason the cross as something like man owing a debt to God that he can't pay, as was said in the video, but on the other hand, in reality, I see the cross, and by extension quite literally everything else, as being unnecessary, and in that sense, a gift (Jn 15:13). Jesus didn't have to die for us, but He did, because God is love and He laid his life down for us. It was in His nature, so to speak, to do so.
In regards to the Church then, I've asked myself, what does this mean for the necessity of the Church? Again, I might argue that the Church isn't necessary, just as Christ's crucifixion wasn't necessary. In fact, nothing He did was necessary, but rather everything was done out of perfect love, as a gift. And as the bride follows after the bridegroom, we too must offer ourselves as a gift. The missionary activity of the Church isn't strictly necessary in the sense that God needs us to save souls, but we are commanded to imitate Christ and nonetheless offer ourselves most purely out of love, as a gift, just as He did.
It's not about whether or not it's necessary - it's simply about love. This is the theology of the primacy of grace.
