You have no idea how many people you help by making these videos. I’m in Pensacola right now and one of my ac units went out. I told my buddy about how many of your videos I watch and I’m sure you have one like this so I went and bought me a new domestic yesterday and I’m gonna save some money and put it in myself.
You are very welcome.
Thank you very much for the informative and very helpful video.
You are welcome
Excellent tip on the warranty info. I had never thought about it, but it does make sense. It is definitely easier to process that without the emotion of dealing with broken things.
A lot of people are not aware of that. Thanks Jonathon
That’s way I always use those moving pads, also comfortable on the old knees you know great video as always my friend
Thanks buddy.
So funny thing, I was removing the mounting bolts/screws & 2 of them actually are hard stuck to the threads which is in a cylinder which now rotates with the bolt. So I ordered a set of 4 dometic bolts on amazon prime. I also got a control kit even though I have a working digital control box installed already, just encase the vibrations mess it up. I'm gonna use an oscillating tool to cut the heads of the 2 bolts stuck. It cuts pretty well I bought some heavy metal blades couple months ago haha. My theory is since the A/C was constantly freezing up those 2 bolts next to all the ice gave it so much rust it fused with it. There is only 1 RV service that comes out to your area around here, but that man is pretty backed up. They really need more people in the industry. But ya know theres been a big shortage in many relatable fields so it is what it is.
Sometimes those bolts will get stuck in those nutcerts. Good luck
Well good for that guy getting the parts early before summer hits good job on you guys fixing that in the cold snow. Thanks Don . PS February 8th it's now 52 degrees here in California LOL.... I'm still ready to move out of here
Oh wow Don....52 ? That sucks.....ha ha
Congratulations for having the sense to want to flee California. If you truly learned your lesson, there are many states that will welcome you under one condition. DON'T VOTE LIKE A CALIFORNIAN. LEAVE THAT B.S. THERE. Too many people flee Cali then are so short sighted that they try to enact the same laws, rules ,and regulations.
removing a dometic and replacing one should keep you busy for life, im replaceing 2 new ones now and im glad to say bye to dometic, I will never own another one, juice sucking nightmares, prone to tear up right out of the box, my opinion and what I have seen out of them through the years, rather stick my head out the window in Summer time than own another one.
Why don't you tell us how you really feel about Dometic......ha ha
From a friend I always use those moving pads 5x5 works great on any roof and comfortable on these old knees you know
Yes old knees.
No gasket on top or silicone used?
AC has a gasket. That's all that is needed.
I purchased a 15K Dometic to replace my non-cooling 13.5K unit about 15 months ago. I haven't opened the box yet but plan to install it next week. Due to space I stored the new unit box on its side and I'm hoping that won't affect the operation?
I hope not too.
How about that warrantee thing. I always thought it restarted from install date. I expect if it wasn’t replaced under warrantee - purchased new by the owner - then the two years coverage begins on install date.
Do you just throw away the old AC unit or is there a core return value? Great video Kenny. Stay safe on those slippery roofs.
That is why I took this opportunity to mention the warranty thing. A lot of people don't realize how it works. Occasionally they will want an AC unit returned, but most times they are just field scrapped.
Great job! Looks like you have done it before by the way you walked the old one down and the new one up.👍👍
Only a time or 2
If your Warranty was out and had to install a New One, what Model would you recommend based on Reliability and Cooling temps?? Thanks, also, if your Camper is still under Warranty, can you get any AC Repair business to trouble shoot/install a new one and send the bill to the Camper Trailer Dealership? Instead of having to gut the camper then deliver it yourself to the dealer parking lot.
You really need to stick with the same AC manufacturer and just find a good mobile RV guy in your area to work with. I do warranty work all the time.
Not duct tape but dumb ! Lollll
Glad you enjoyed it.
no dicor in the bolt holes or underneath the roof unit???
What bolt holes? This was a brisk air. You do realize there is a foam gasket under the AC.
@@hillbillyrv I will be replacing one soon does the gasket seal complete and keep the water out by itself or is sealant necessary?
@@meseahunt If you ever want to take it off ever again, don't put any sealer under it.
The cover just easily slides off? Mine is staying put and I'm afraid of breaking the cheap plastic, but it looks exactly like that one and I can't get it to just slide off.
What cover?
@@hillbillyrv The cover to the vent inside the trailer in the beginning of the video. You used a knife to help pop it off. There are little grooves on each side of the vent cover. I wasn't sure whether to pop it down, slide it off or what to do with it. You did it with such ease mine doesn't want to let loose.
@@DitchCCDC23 It shouldn't be that hard to get them off. Just pull a little harder, but not too hard.
@@hillbillyrv haha, can you just run over to Vegas and help me? 😅. I'll try again when our trip is over. Thanks a million for responding.
