The first time I saw this film, when it first came out, started a lifelong appreciation of Gershwin's music Allen's films. It also made me want to visit New York. Next year, some 46 latter, the promise I made to myself as a 20 year old will finally becoming true.
Superb. A masterpiece. Woody Allen's very own Casablanca. At the end, when Tracey says "Not everybody gets corrupted", his expression tells the whole story... because actually yes, yes they do.
Superior. Blew me away when I saw it in 1979. As if the story is not perfect enough, he layers on a spectacular soundtrack that further brings to light the drama and the feel and the emotions in his story and in his city.
I watched a 1987 interview when he basically said that he missed the mark with Manhattan. Not so much that he hated the movie. Could someone please point me where he said he hates the film. Not being snarky, I really want to I know.

That final line by Hemingway, that little smile by Allen......That my friends, is a perfect ending to a film.
Taken right from Chaplin
One of my favorite endings to a film. Just perfect.
At the end, Tracy is the mature one in the relationship. A perfect conclusion.

So perfect in everything. Thank you Woody for this movie
One of the best films Woody Allen has ever made, even he though he hates Manhattan.
His fans still like the movie regardless of what he thinks of it.
He loves New York city, lifelong New Yorker.
@@thehouseofcm Yes he loves New York City is where he lives with his wife and children.
I was referring to his film Manhattan which he hates.

Manhattan should have won the best picture Oscar. It’s better than Annie Hall.
Masterpiece!
Thanks for such beauty and genius, Master Allen. ❤
my favorite movie of all time! a masterpiece. a perfect ending🙏💞
His best film.
Brings a tear to my eye. . . ( for many reasons ). And I’d guess that it does the same for many of you . ,m
Perfection in retrospection.
He's afraid that he's not going to live up to her experiences and she is going to find a better guy.
He finally realised
What did her parents say about their relationship? Oh we cant be worried about that.
"It is not the end. It is the beginning." It was the idea. I made a mistake I guess.
Creepy, given what we now know about the guy.
What exactly do you know about the guy?
Don’t worry, Woody. She’ll still barely be legal after 6 months in London.
You notice how none of the characters have any personality?
Greater than anything by Bergman !
BS only a groomer old fart loves this crap of a movie
And Woody thinks it's his worst film.

@@jonahfalcon1970 I think that he believes The Curse Of Jade Scorpion to be his worst, actually.
@@candelise Did Woody offer to do films for free if they'd burn the negatives to Curse of the Jade Scorpion?
She is unbelievably beautiful in this great Woody Allen film. The guy was one of a kind. Kinda like another jew - Phil Spector.
