That can happen with many celebrities. A lot of times they are unrecognizable in public or it could be an actor that’s in a big TV show but his or her name is not really known in the mainstream

Woody Allen follows his heart and I attribute that to his many successes. I have followed his films since Take the Money and Run and Bananas of the Sixties. Thereafter I have been a loyal fan. Having read his autobiography “Apropos of Nothing” I saw a glimpse of his growing up and who and what influenced him. There is an authenticity here helping me understand the logistics of his choices in his living spaces. His taste is impeccable. He is a wizard of film and profound in his artistry and his eloquence in his film dialogue captures my poetic nerve endearing me onward to his commentary of social mores and inspirational passages. I am forever grateful. Love this sequence. Thanks for sharing.

The thing is that in every Woody Allen movie I've taken more notice of The Interiors.
Of course he has books , a library, love the needle work too the plush deep red comfort of chairs, even the light hearted sunflowers. This home is as one would expect, near culture and one of the most beautiful parks in the World. Manhattan is a melting pot of style, eclectic, antique, deco etc married with modern. Fabulous, thank you for sharing.

That 1951 Olympia typewriter of his has been serviced yearly and parts replaced from other exact models at great expense. This is the typewriter on which, while still in high school he wrote jokes published in the newspaper columns of the day. A nephew saw my old typewriter and didn't know what it was, he asked me "Where's the screen?"

Sometimes in interviews, Woody can seem extremely humble and simple. Like it was forced. But when we look at certain features of his home, such as the minimalist space where he writes, we say to ourselves that he really is what he says he is, which is completely adorable and charming.

Love, respect, admiration ,and most of all gratitude to this genius who has lifted me out of the darkest times or facilitated my most joyful phases I often re watch any of his films that show themself suddenly on TV or elsewhere .Thank you for this presentation. As far as the townhouse I am rather surprised to see the furniture that resembles Early American ,the chairs, the dining room ..I would have never guessed that Of course he still writes on the old typewriter 😊 That must be a wonderful sound echoing throughout the home

    • @RattledPan

Indeed, that was my take on seeing Americana in his home. Marie Calendars' was a restaurant chain on the west coast before they moved to frozen foods. Wonderful dining rooms with a heavy spoon of Americanna in the decorating. It was fitting considering how the restaurants were marketed, even back then. The juxtaposition of Americana and Woody and his roots in NYC, is jarring. I understand this is his personal space and not beholden to fashion, Wouldn't he have been more pleased with late 19th early 20th century pieces that were a bit more unique?
I shall hush. If someone that didn't know me criticized my decorations and wall hangings, I'd backhand the runt so face was on sideways!
Also: I never have guests over, so my thinking is more hypothetical.

Ummm ... what's the problem? You realize Allen never lived with Crazy Farrow, right? It's true they were a couple, and coworkers, but never shared a home (he never stayed the night). He also never had anything to do with the 'adoption projects' with which Farrow filled the empty place that should have been her soul. He didn't even have anything to do with his theoretical 'biological' child, Satchel Ronan (those were the only terms under which Allen was willing to procreate with Farrow). Allen barely even knew Soon Yi until Farrow asked him to start taking her to basketball games and other events to help her to become more social. Mission accomplished! Soon Yi blossomed into a confident, headstrong woman, wife, and mother to two grown daughters with Allen. Everyone should be so blessed as to have someone like Allen to help them overcome the misfortunes of her first 18 years.

    • @JennaRight
      @JennaRight 8 місяців тому +2

@@madeleinerose7090 Yeah, it's totally normal. (sarcasm) A man 85 years old with a woman 53 year old and she was how old when she got involved with Allen? Was he 53 and she was 21 years old? And you are calling Mia crazy? Seriously? There is so much wrong with what you wrote and you don't even know it. No matter how you try to make it seem normal it is concerning that a 53 year old man became involved with his long term partner's adopted 21 year old daughter. Mia was the mother of Allen's child Ronan and that child was a sibling of Soon Yi. How do you think Allen's and Soon Yi's relationship affected the other siblings especially Ronan? You don't think the daughter betrayed her mother? I am so happy that she "found her confidence" if that is what you call it. I call it something else.

I'm glad he's not living in all white, so popular now, but I find to be so icy and boring. This is much better, but it seems a little too country. It's more of a design that would fit at a country place in Vermont. It could be a bit more elegant, while still being comfortable.

The photographs are good. The narrative, however, is confusing. Are all the photographs of his (current?) townhouse on E. 70th or are some of his previous townhouse on 92nd Street (I think) or of his apartment in Manhattan's Carnegie Hill neighborhood (not borough). Using consistent terminology would be helpful -- is it a townhouse, mansion, estate, or apartment?

That interior is only a deaf and dumb reflexion of Woody's mind. Woody is the voice and the interior is the framed shot. Liked his films and the deep (self) reflexions on humans in alldays realations. Now i am sitting at the other end of the ocean and as a kid on sunday evenings Woody's movies were played on televison. Nice and cosy in winter in front of the stove, and Woody in NYC on 5th ave reminiscign about his relation to a co-worker and developping plans ..you know . That was very nice. Mist coming up out those holes in the streets, the city train and yellow Mercury cabs and city noises. It could have been my city ..

He used to give them all to his parents, and they were on display in his parents' apartment. There is a scene toward the end of the documentary "Wild Man Blues" where Woody, with Soon Yi, visits his parents at their apartment, and he has gifts for them; he says something like "You can keep them with the others". Now that his parents of course are long ago deceased, they are likely with him - but I imiagine probably locked away in a closet, because he never gave much weight to awards.

Good question. Though many of his movies are box office flops he obviously makes a comfortable living from them. He once said in an interview that he's made more money from real estate than from his movies. Probably true. He started making good money at a young age with his writing and comedy act, and probably kept selling his homes at a good profit and trading up to better digs as he got older. Part of his success can be attributed to to his work ethic. He's constantly working on something and this produces results.

Really can’t appreciate his taste, it’s a waste of the townhouse in such a nice location, interior design looks like in a farm house, even though he is talented in many ways but his home taste is not great to share with others, the truth is famous person with talent is not necessarily got good tastes!

The home doesn’t look expensive. Which is guess feels cozy. I guess it looks like something in one of his movies, but it’s surprisingly down low key to me. Almost looks poor. Like a Jewish Brooklyn row house.

Looks like he dragged stuff in from the prop room after some period movie. The images here are repetitive.

Surprising I expected more Asian accent pieces and less folk art. I really liked the cozy feel except for Micky and Minnie.

Depressing house. Inhabited by someone still living in the past, not moving into the future. It's kind of an emotional crutch.

Still, pretty good for a robot reading this narration. It gets it closer on the second mention of ER.
